Wow! What a great idea for a book. It provided an amazing recap of a lengthy series. This book is going to be extremely helpful when the next two books release to give me a very thorough recap of the series. This series is a doozy (a great one), but rereads take a LOT of time to get refreshed on the important happenings of previous books. I feel like I need a print version instead of an e-book so I can flip through when I need to reference things while reading the new books. If you are buying this book thinking it is going to be new material, there are some snippets of never before read material, but overall it was an overview of the books and characters of this series.
3 stars for lack of new content, but 4 stars for a great concept and provided a summary for my future reading.
Thanks for the e-copy for an honest opinion publisher!

Such a great way to do a recap of both FBAA and F&F series but also get material from the one and only Miss Willa! I loved it so much and I can't wait for the upcoming releases!!

Visions of Flesh and Blood this is a companion for the both the A Blood and Ash/Flesh and Fire series. It’s extremely in-depth and the perfect companion for a re-read. I would use it as such since there are spoilers if you haven’t read the series but it’s incredibly fascinating and truly enriched the knowledge of this world and deepens knowledge of key characters, creatures and belief systems. It’s very long but I devoured all the tidbits and thoroughly enjoyed rereading the books and highlighting what I wanted to read more about n finding it in this volume. I think it’s an invaluable reference for anyone who truly loves both of these series.
This also offers multiple perspectives/POV from various characters as well as a in-depth overview of each individual book. It even has a music playlist. I can’t think of a single thing missing from this compilation. I highly recommend it and suggest taking it either book by book or by topic. This is meant to be savored and I love how well this was written and appreciated how much time effort and love has been poured into to these pages. Definitely well done and worth the read!

If this was shorter I think it would be helpful for keeping track of who everyone is and what’s going on, but it’s just far too much information. Also I think there would be spoilers if you haven’t read all of the books, but if you have then you already know what happened so you probably don’t need the recap

Thank you to Netgalley/publisher/author for the arc/opportunity to read this book (compendium) I'm exchange for review
Visions of Flesh and Blood acts as a comprehensive guide, weaving together the complex narratives from both the FBAA and FAF series into a cohesive summary.
The book introduces exclusive scenes that add rich layers to the story. While the multi-character viewpoints can occasionally feel redundant, they offer deeper context and understanding of the plot (I think it would easily feel redundant if you just came off recently reading the series and immediately jumped into the compendium).
I loved the addition of the musical playlists- especially since a lot the songs were already on my playlists or I know them well enough that I could think ',yes, I can see this song setting this scene/book'
That being said, the compendium definitely gave off the wiki page vibes (minus the spicy scenes of course) with the summaries and the rather miles long list of characters, races, etc. the artwork was enjoyable.

This is exactly what I needed!
I love the From Blood and Ash book series, but will admit the more layers of details about gods and primals got added to the story, the more I got lost. This book will be the perfect companion for my re-read - it covers the characters, the bloodlines, history, etc.
It also has a really great synopsis of the various book series and how their storylines intertwine.
I think all authors that have detailed world building and intertwining stories should do something like this!

I overall enjoyed reading Visions of Flesh and Blood. I feel that is because I went in with appropriate expectations. I did not learn anything new, but more so solidified some concepts from both series that were more "hazy" in my understanding, Miss Willa compiling it was a clever idea and while putting in a little of the spice Poppy loved reading too. I fully intend to re-read this book before The Primal of Blood and Bone releases 9/23/25. This book provides a great recap of both series while not having to commit to reading all the books in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a fun companion to this series. I really enjoyed this book.

It's official: I WILL READ ANYTHING BY JLA™
This is the perfect companion to the FBAA / FAF series, whether you're a die hard fan or if you're new and looking for more context into the world.
I particularly found this book would be incredibly useful when I do a reread in preparation for the upcoming release of the next installment of the FBAA series.
I read this on a tablet but will be purchasing this in a physical edition as the illustrations are a wonderful addition.

Visions of Flesh and Blood is great for a refresher of things that's happened, various characters and places. When you have a series that is this long and there's such a delay in getting to the end of Poppy's story, it's super helpful in advance of the next book being released!

There is absolutely nothing I like more than a JA book to sink myself into. This really helped me with the synopsis of each tome. Can’t wait for your next adventure for us devoted fans!

It would have been great if this was Miss. Willa's full diary but sadly it's not. I knew it was advertised as a compendium. I guess it's ok as an overview if it's been a while since you've read the books en before The Primal of Blood and Bone will be released. However I skimmed through this book, only reading the exclusive content and diary entries.
There is a lot of repetition and it could have done with lesser pages. A lot is just page filling.
The prophecy is analyzed with what we know so far.
Thankfully I got to read it as an ARC on Netgalley because I would never pay for this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book. A gorgeous 4 star read book from me. What an exciting plot, vivid storytelling and relatable, rich characters. I couldn't put this book down – absolutely loved it.

This is a great recap for both Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire series!! I needed it, honestly. Love the art and the style of this book. Definitely recommend for a memory refresh!

This companion is everything I didn’t know I needed until I had it in my hands. A beautifully assembled collection of lore, history, art, and extra content from the Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire universes, told through the wonderfully chaotic lens of Miss Willa Collins herself.
From detailed notes to immersive journal-style entries, it offers fans a deeper dive into the world they love while giving a fresh perspective through Willa’s unique voice. The tone is playful and rich with detail, with plenty of nods to the steamy, dramatic, and tangled web of the series.
Getting more insight into Willa, who has always been a behind-the-scenes legend, was an absolute treat. Her wit, passion, and curious mind shine here. It felt like having tea with the most scandalous historian in all of the realms.
If you’re a fan of the series, this is a must-have. It doesn’t just recap, it expands. I’m so glad this exists; it’s both a love letter and a library.
Thank you to the Author & Net Galley for the ARC.

This compendium will probably be very useful if you're reading the Blood and Ash and Flesh and Fire series as the books are released, with the year or two gaps between them. I'm currently reading both series in order, alternating between the two so most of the information isn't really new but it is helpfully all contained here as a refresher of the lore of the world, ready for the final book(s) of the Blood and Ash series. I'll read through this again before The Primal of Blood and Bone later this year for refresh my memory!
The compendium contains:
A glossary of terms
A history of the world and world maps
Detailed breakdowns of all the significant characters and their stories to date, including fan art for each character
Exclusive scenes and letters
Willa's diary entries
Breakdown of the prophecy, phrase by phrase
Quotes
Playlists
History Timeline
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley, but this is my voluntary and honest review.

I love this series, but good lord, I am also ready for it to end. I think if you haven't picked up the series in a while and need a refresh on the magic, world, characters, and plot, this is worth the read since it does a great job recapping the past 7+ books set within this world. However otherwise, I think it is not worth the read. I definitely need the final book to know how it all wraps up.

This is the perfect addition to the series. . I absolutely love Miss Willa’s point of view. This definitely will tide me over into the next book in the series is out.

Great summary of the book already written and for the next one. Its good because theres such a long wait between these books its kinda needed. But I'd rather read the next book personally than a 'here's whats happened so far' book. But it is a good quick read if you need to familiarise yourself with it.

Exactly as expected - a fun compendium of the Blood and Ash world. I loved the backstories and history. It delivered!!
