I loved reading the second in what I think is a trilogy about Farrah and her life after finding out she's part-Jinn. I didn't realize this would have kind of a cliffhanger ending so was very shocked at the end but absolutely loved seeing all the kiddos together and hope the third one will bring her best friend back into the fold (as much as I loved seeing the other jinn kids) and the surprise about what's been going on with the realm of Nightmares!

Farrah's development has been one of the best parts of this series so far and I know so many kids who will see themselves in her and her adventures. I can't wait for the third one!

Farrah Noorzad's story continues to sparkle in this engaging follow-up, which delves deeper into the complexities of her dual heritage. After saving her jinn king father, Farrah is still finding her footing in both the human and jinn worlds. The narrative skillfully captures the emotional upheaval of moving away from her best friend, Arzu, while simultaneously navigating the precarious politics of the jinn realm.

The Al Qalam Academy for the Exceptional provides a vibrant and intriguing new setting, offering a glimpse into the structured yet magical education of the jinn. Farrah's determination to prove herself worthy of her father's side is a compelling driving force, and her efforts to help Idris uncover his missing memories add a heartwarming layer to the plot.

However, the lingering presence of the fire jinn Azar and his insidious whispers of doubt occasionally feel a bit repetitive, though they do effectively set up the central conflict of the prophecy. The stakes are raised considerably when the City of Jewels is threatened, leading to a thrilling climax that leaves readers eager for the next installment. While the pacing sometimes wavers, and some resolutions feel a touch too convenient, the rich world-building and the endearing characters make this a worthwhile read. It's a solid continuation that promises even more epic adventures for Farrah.

This was a strong sequel in the Farrah Noorzad series, it had that element that I was enjoying about the first book. The characters and concept worked well overall and was invested in getting back to this world. Deeba Zargarpur was able to weave a strong tale and was glad everything that I was looking for. It continued the story perfectly and had that element that I enjoyed from the world going on.

An engaging story, beautifully written. The urge to prove herself to her father, the hurt she felt on his absence feels very real. Love the connection Noorzad has with her Madar Jan. All the sacrifices mothers make for their kids, Madar Jan is a very strong character.
