What a lovely novel about grief and vulnerability and love!

People will try to trope-ify this book as “grumpy-sunshine” but I think that would do it a real disservice because it is so much more than that! Both of our main characters slip in and out of ‘grumpy’ or ‘sunshine’ throughout the novel, because the story is messy and raw and reflective of real life. I fell in love with our two main characters, all the side characters and perhaps the most important character of all—the setting itself. Kate Harley has given us a rich and textured setting, filled with complex characters and a beautiful love story.

While the pacing was a little rogue at times, including the rather abrupt ending, I thoroughly enjoyed this debut!

All that‘s left to say is… Take me to the Western Isles immediately!!!

go home Ivy. but where is home. and what does home really mean? a place? a person? a feeling?
this is the journey that Ivy unwittingly goes on. she is just going to do an assignment in order to get her dream job right? what could go wrong i skew her off course? well it turns out quite a few things not least the beauty of the place she lands or the beauty of the people who inhabit it.
but maybe it isnt so great when someone grumpy and unshakable keeps coming into her path. turns out though this man is the brother in law of the lady she has come to help. great. but as you learn more about Ivy and then learn more about Ross. and as they spend more time together you cant really do anything but fall in love with them, for them. and are rooting for this pair. how will they work it out though. they both need to deal with stuff in their own lives. some things can feel to big to heal from. but what if? what if?
this was comforting book that made me smile and want to read more of. the story and characters were really well done. and the scenes set by Kate had me right there with them. i could feel that beautiful flow of the Scotts woven through it too.

This book was so cute the entire way through. I loved the character interactions between Ivy and Ross. I love the golden retriever and grumpy cat combo. The side characters were all strong and contributed well to the story too.

I feel like a lot of people can relate to chasing your dream while having a different passion so it was really easy to root for Ivy. Ross was a little bit harder to relate to just because we don't know anything about him for so much of the book, but once we learn about him I just pitied him for the rest of the book. Especially because of how Ivy decides do deal with some things....

Overall I think it was a really good book that you can go through really quickly. I was a bit disappointed with the end because I felt like some things weren't resolved, but am generally happy with the book.

Go Home Ivy is a Scottish romance between an energetic marketing executive and her client's grump of a brother in law. Ivy and Ross have a couple of random encounters prior to being officially introduced by her clients. Ivy and Ross then go on a pre-launch tour that Ivy has set up. They get stranded on an island together for a few days and their relationship starts to change. Will Ivy be able to continue to pursue her dreams if she is in a relationship with Ross? Is Ross truly ready for a relationship after the death of his wife?

I enjoyed the characters of both Ivy and Ross. They were well developed and I enjoyed reading about their emotional journeys and journey to one another. However, I felt like the conflict between them lasted a long time compared to the resolution. Would recommend if you enjoy reading Scottish romance with deeper themes!

Thank you NetGalley and Ciampa's publishing for the ARC!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

Loved this! Can't believe it's a debut. Great writing style. You feel like you know the characters. Loved the setting too. I read a lot of Scotland-related books but you often don't see the islands represented. Hopefully there are more from this author in the future! Highly recommend.

LOVED the representation for the Scottish Isles and the foreword about learning Gaelic! It really added to the atmosphere of the rural island. I enjoyed Ivy's inner monologue and found myself rooting for her. However I didn't find myself drawn to Ross and didn't feel their chemistry.
