I couldn't get past the first chapter. I do not like when people write about a brother looking at his sisters booobs. Incest isn't for me.

I didn’t end up finishing this book. There were incestuous thought insinuations between brother and sister, which was a bit weird. Even if it was “normal” at the time. Since they both seemed to realize they shouldn’t have those thoughts, though, and acted *against* them, I was willing to give the book another chance.

That was until - whilst it might have been said at the time - the book includes a racist stereotypes towards Welsh people of “sheep shagging.” Which is an outdated reference and unnecessary. And I didn’t think was fair or particularly funny. The Welsh are a lovely people and don’t deserve these references towards themselves, even in historical fiction.

However I will say the English banter/inner thoughts were otherwise hilarious. I live in Canada but was born in England, so thoroughly enjoyed hearing slang I don’t often hear.

I’m giving it a three because, racism and incest “jokes”/references, aside, I did otherwise enjoy what I read of it.

William Hope and The Princess- Part One- "For England, Yar" by CHRIS VANCE is such a good book. I totally recommend everyone to read this book as fast as they can because it's really good and the characters are fantastic.

William Hope and the Princess is an action-packed adventure set in 1577 England, featuring pirates, magic, and betrayal. On paper, it promises an exciting journey, but unfortunately, I struggled to get into the story. The beginning felt off-putting, and though I pushed through, I never quite connected with the characters or the writing.

There were moments where I found myself engaged, but the writing style consistently pulled me out of the experience. It’s possible that this particular style just isn’t for me—there are certainly elements in the story that fans of historical fiction, magic, and adventure may appreciate.

If you enjoy a historical setting with magic, this could very well be a book for you. Though it didn’t fully land for me, I’d still encourage readers to give it a shot—it might click better for someone else.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy!

Review: Wow, this was totally pervy what with William "The Creepshow" Hope as head pervinator. 13 yo and mind grinding on his twin sisters naked butt and tatas. As an adult his twin sister Katie starts wondering why she looks like none of her relatives. Oh I see, how convenient that your sister might happen to be adopted. Who comes up with this shjt?

Anyhoo, the passages are long-winded as fuk with the common and high english verbosity coupled with the piratical deluge of yars and other conjoined phrases that make no sense. The characterization is quite good even with William whacking his paddle over his twinsie.

The overall adventure is really good and deserves consideration. The sequel should be a good follow up so I will stick it out.
