Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a digital copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The United States has sort of been living in a post-apocalyptic world since 2016, so why would I be interested in reading a speculative fiction account? I requested this book and didn't realize that it was the third book in the series. I found the first book on audio and tried listening to it, but I had to stop. I wasn't a big fan of the style of writing.
So, I picked up volume three and started. To say it was confusing is an understatement. You really should read volumes one and two. You just jump in on a lot of the action right away and there are so many established characters that I couldn't get a feel for them.
I also didn't like some of the dialogue, which was racist as all get out. Calling someone a "raghead". Yeah, I know people actually talk that way, but it soured me on the book.
