'Your Story Has a Villain' brings clarity to an oft-confusing topic, cutting through misunderstandings with honest and digestible explanations. JP expertly balances how Satan influences us and then how we are to respond, digging into topics like bitterness, idolatry/addiction, disunity, desensitization/apathy, and more.
For those curious about spiritual warfare, this book is an invaluable resource. Even for those pretty familiar with the topic but who need encouragement to not let Satan have a foothold in their lives, this is full of great challenges. The "Make It Stick" sections at the end of each chapter provide actionable steps, turning knowledge into practice. I highly recommend it to any follower of Jesus seeking truth, clarity, and exhortation in this spiritual battle!

Your Story Has a Villain: Identify Spiritual Warfare and Learn How to Defeat the Enemy
I absolutely loved this book.
This is quite possibly the best Christian book I have read in a couple years.
Pokluda has a real way of writing, it is engaging, interesting, and his points really hit you.
I couldn't help but to be reminded by the writings of John Mark Comer.
This is also such an uplifting and encouraging read. I felt truly inspired after reading, and I feel it made me really rethink how prevalent the enemy's pulls are to daily life.
I can totally see Pokluda's love for Jesus in his words.
The book is filled with excellent references to scripture, and lots of encouragement throughout.
Although the topic can be quite scary at times, but, Pokluda handles it with such a practical and encouraging way, that you are moved and captivated!
This is an excellent book for new Christians, but I highly recommend it even for veteran Christians as well.
A really powerful read, and I really look forward now to reading more of his books in the future.
In fact, it reminds me that I still have to read Why Do I Do What I Don't Want to Do?: Replace Deadly Vices with Life-Giving Virtues, which has been on my TBR for a while (too long)!

Overall 4.25 stars!
I really enjoyed this audiobook! I have to say this is the first audiobook I’ve personally been able to finish from the start! I usually find it difficult to concentrate with audiobooks due to the narration, especially when I don’t feel the message conveyed well by the narrator but this narrator did a great job with the book. The book itself was fascinating; although I have heard of spiritual warfarin it is not a daily thought and the author rightfully brings us this question - ‘why not?’ Why do we not this about spiritual warfare on a daily basis when we are involved in it almost every second of our life! The book is quite easy to read with simple anecdotes from the author’s life, that I personally found quite relatable.
It is a heavy topic made easy - positively for few like myself and negatively for those who are unable to grasp this Christian concept.

This book covers an important topic of Christianity, understanding the devil, demons, hell and spiritual warfare. Studies show 50% of evangelical Christians don’t believe the devil is a real entity despite believing the Bible is the word of God; this keeps Christians from being prepared for attacks and spiritual warfare. This book helps draw attention to the spiritual forces working against Christians in a context that also doesn’t give Satan more power than he really has (another common trap), while also providing real world ways to prepare for warfare and fight the enemy. I thought this was an easy to read and understand text that would be good for any level of Christian to learn from. Overall I really enjoyed it and felt the author did a great job narrating the audiobook as well.
Note: I received an ARC audiobook from W Publishing in exchange for an honest review of the book.

Seeing as I received this ARC as an audiobook, I have determined that I NEED to purchase the hard copy to continuously study!!
I've enjoyed every Jonathan "JP" Pokluda book I've read and, dare I say, this might just be his best yet!
JP opened my eyes to brand new ways of understanding the way the enemy or "the villain" comes to attack Christians today and how he operates in our modern world. I enjoyed JP's transparency and real-life, easy-to-incorporate applications to bringing prayer to the forefront of our daily walk as Christians and easy ways to embrace it as one of our strongest weapons in battle with the enemy and his minions across the earth. I found this book to be incredibly powerful. Again, I truly cannot wait to order a physical copy of my own to highlight and underline and annotate all over it and really hold these practices close to keep them accessible.
This is not something I would merely recommend to my friends, family, and followers, it's something I would classify as a "NEED to read" text that everyone should have on their shelves.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the audio ARC of this book!

This book was such a surprise and a blessing to me. Thank you to W Publishing Books and Netfalley for the audio copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I didn’t really read the description going in, I saw that it was Christian and saw the title so I thought I’d give it a try. It was really eye opening. I loved the way it outlined the different ways the enemy acts on our sin, encourages it, and even delights in our failure. The entire book was biblically sound, well thought out, and well researched. Ultimately it opened my eyes to the way we should view the world and how I can combat the problem in my own life. It was really good. I’m excited to recommend it to others!
