A sign of a good historical fiction book is that it does a great job at showing both the historical event but also helping you connect to the people it impacted. This book does a great job at helping you relate to the event, and also showing the similarities between being an older teenager/young adult in Spain and in the United States. It also doe a great job at bringing attention to a foreign crisis that has been mostly overlooked in the United States and left me wanting to learn about it. I am a high school teacher and I plan to add it to my class library.

i couldnt get into this book sadly. it felt like i was being thrown so many things all at once and too often. but maybe that is the chaos that was meant to come across over some of the events in the book. it also felt serious but some things i didnt think felt serious enough. but perhaps that is where the audience this is directed at comes into play.
with everything in the news maybe it also just hit home at the wrong time.
everything feels alot at the moment so i think i was biased against it just from being overwhelmed with current sociatal goings on. which isnt fair to the author or book. so i would say my review is only fault in picking a book that was a good read but that i wasnt ready for in the current times.
