The 4th book with Freddie and Grace! I definitely recommend reading these books in order as it’s an ongoing story. This time Grace and Freddie go home and find her sister in a compromising position, it looks like she murdered her husband. However, all is not what it seems. There is also a matter of an inheritance for Grace and her sister in Scotland. I enjoyed getting to read another mystery with Grace and Freddie! They are such a great couple and I just love Grace’s personality. I also liked the little twists that the reader may not see coming. Great Christian content. Overall, a great story and I recommend!

The Highland Heist is book 4 in Pepper Basham's fun series featuring the charming and engaging Freddie and Grace. Such a delightful read. Of course there's a murder mystery. As usual more fun than dark. As in all the other books in this series the bantering and sweet relationship between Freddie and Grace is light and adventurous and filled with faith. Pepper Basham has quickly become a favorite author across all her varied genres and this book continues that.
Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Publishers for the opportunity to read for my honest review

This was such a fun, cozy, historical mystery. The mystery was full of family drama and plot twists that made this read engaging. I enjoyed being back with Grace and Frederick and Zahra. Seeing them work together through tough situations but also still bringing the banter was so heartwarming. I loved that there was lots of faith naturally woven into the story. Books like that always leave me uplifted.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC. All opinions are my own.

The Highland Heist is book number 4 of a series based on main characters Frederick and Grace Percy. I had not read the first three books and was quite pleased with the way Pepper Basham, ‘peppered’ little tidbits of the past 3 books into this story so I never felt lost! The reader could most certainly get away with reading this book as a standalone. However, I will say, once you finish this story you will fall so in love with Grace and Frederick that you will be unable to pass up the opportunity to go back and read the series from the beginning! At least that was the case for me!
The Highland Heist was not completely predictable from beginning to end as most clean mysteries tend to be. Pepper has an excellent way of keeping the storyline driving forward with great momentum, twists and turns!
I truly loved her writing style and getting to know each of the characters. What a fun series, bring on book number 5?!
Highly recommended, 5 out of 5 stars! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Thank you, NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Books, for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The reason why I was interested in this one was because I read <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/216052869-some-like-it-scot">Some Like It Scot</a> in January, and I fell in love with Pepper Basham's writing and storytelling.

When I started reading it, I didn't realize this was part of a series (this is book 4, which means I missed three books). However, it wasn't hard to catch up with the storyline.
There were numerous references to Grace and Frederick's past adventures and friends, but nothing too specific to confuse me. In fact, it was very easy to guess what happened just from their mentions.

Grace is a great main character; you can either relate to her or feel deep empathy. Frederick is the definition of husband material, and I have zero complaints about them. I only wish I had read the previous books to see how they fell in love <spoiler>(they mentioned a past situation with Lillias and implied what happened, but I believe it would be better if I had read it.)</spoiler>

Lillias is unbearable. The kind of woman who thinks she's better than others because she was raised to be a lady or something like that. I didn't care about her at all. <spoiler> and that scene when she was talking trash about Grace to Frederick, saying they were supposed to be married? Girl?? Your husband had just died, and this was your sister's husband. </spoiler> I don't even know if she realized Grace wasn't as silly as she thought she was. She also never apologized. <spoiler> I also don't think she deserved that house, but okay. </spoiler>

<spoiler> The fact that Tony was alive is wilddd. I didn't expect that at all. I was more invested in the story after this, I confess. </spoiler>

It took me a while to finish this book. Not because it wasn't good, but because I was in a reading slump. So I would definitely recommend this one.

With another exciting and fun-filled Freddie and Grace book, Pepper Basham takes readers on a trip to Scotland with a side trip to America to start this new mystery. Shocking and unknown bad surprises pile on as Grace finds out how many things her family has been hiding from her for years. Now she must face a murder charge for her sister and an unknown inheritance from her Mother. With the normal wit, laughter, faith and daring shown in the first 7 months of their marriage, Frederick and Grace use the strength of their marriage and united front to face each obstacle in their path.
The character development moves forward in a natural and wonderful pace, showing how the newly weds continue to grow and mature. With wonderful side characters added to increase the interest and depth in this series, the reader will never grow bored. There is enough adventure, mystery, wit, laughter, and swoon worthy romance to keep everyone entertained. The faith of each character is a natural flow in the book, adding to the entire story. The characters are fit into marvelous settings, constructed to paint a vivid picture of where the story is taking place. Pepper Basham's attention to detail brings the setting to life, like a movie playing out the book.
I have been eagerly anticipating this new addition to the Freddie and Grace series. I laughed out loud at the wit and fun moments these characters always work into the seriousness of life. Pepper Basham has found a marvelous way to make such realistic characters feed into the reader's life. Mystery and danger are often present but met with ways to lift the seriousness and bring enjoyment out of all phases of life. The romance continues to burn bright and add another dimension to this thrilling book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a story filled with mystery, laughter, danger, wit and sigh worthy romance. I truly hope there is another book to come following Frederick and Grace in their ongoing adventures. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Spectacular read! Fun characters, I love the chemistry between Grace and Frederick. The fact they are so close they can read what the other is thinking is romantic along with all the sleuthing talk that leads to kissing. This is my favorite adventure out of them all. The castle, The many surprises that are thrown in, and the laugh-out-loud moments! It is so fun to be hanging on the edge of your seat from all the mystery and intrigue that pops up many times throughout the story. Danger lurks at every turn and the castle with all the secrets passages and carvings were so exciting! I felt like I was on an adventure myself. Pepper Basham has outdone herself with this book. Smart, witty, exceptional storytelling. Seriously, how does she come up with such ideas? Now I want to see fun-loving Blake on an adventure with Grace and Frederick where he gets the girl.

In the sweet and humorous novel, Highland Heist by Pepper Basham, Grace Percy and Frederick Astley find themselves in America after a long, event filled honeymoon in Europe. Just like always with these two, nothing goes as planned and they find themselves investigating a murder. After many a misstep, troubles around every corner, and even a trans-Atlantic journey they are sure to solve the case!

I began reading Highland Heist without realizing that it was the fourth in a series. Nonetheless, despite a few references to the previous books that I did not fully understand, I genuinely enjoyed this novel and did not want to put it down. In fact, I enjoyed this book so much that I had to run to my library (figuratively, I don’t do much literal running these days) and get the earlier books in this series. Ever since then, I have been listening to them on audiobook trying to catch up on all the hijinks of this hilarious couple! My biggest suggestion to other readers is to read these books in order because then you get all the references.

As I have journeyed through these books, I deeply appreciate that somehow, Ms. Basham knows how to plot and write a mystery/murder story in a way that is not too dark or overly serious and makes for a lighter read. I have begun to lose track of how many of Ms. Basham’s books I have read because every time I see that she has a new one, it goes immediately into my TBR pile right away. She is a talented writer and one that I will keep returning to again and again.

I would suggest Highland Heist for anyone who likes clean Rom-coms with a dash of mystery. Highland Heist is thefourth book in the Freddie and Grace Mystery series and Pepper Basham has a number of other great books I have been privileged to review, including the forthcoming Sense and Suitability (Oct. 14, 2025), Some Like it Scot, and the Skymar series.

Many thanks to Pepper Basham, Barbour Publishing Inc., and NetGalley for an ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are offered freely and are entirely my own.

Oh my gosh - I love Freddie and Grace mysteries. They manage to get themselves into the most incredible situations, which they also somehow manage to get out of! Zahra, their adopted Egyptian daughter, fits in so well and even helps with solving mysteries.

Once again they find that the unexpected culprits are often the most dangerous. There is murder, an inheritance in Scotland and more to keep you guessing and even laughing out loud at times. An ebook was made available through Barbour Publishing and NetGalley. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited. You really don’t want to miss #4. Perhaps Blake could feature in #5??

What a fabulously fun and heartwarming book! Grace and Frederick are enjoying their honeymoon in the US when they stumble into a murder. A fast-paced mission ensues by these amateur sleuths, bringing them to a Scottish castle. Their love is so genuine that I was smiling throughout. This is the fourth book featuring Grace and Frederick and I had not previously read the others (I will now!!!!!). This is easily read as a standalone. I cannot wait to read more from this series as well as other Pepper Basham books.

I honestly think this is my favorite out of all the Freddie and Grace mysteries! Grace and Frederick always seem to find themselves embroiled in a mystery! In The Highland Heist (book 4 of the series) they go all the way to the states to see Grace's family only to have to go to Scotland to claim Grace and her sister, Lillias' castle inheritance. Grace and Freddie just adore one another and they're just so sweet together and with their adopted daughter. This was another great adventure for these two and I'm hoping there is more to come!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

The Highland Heist is another great installment to Pepper Basham's series. She combines mystery, romance and humor to make for a great read. Just like the previous books in this series, I thought I knew what would happen, yet still ended up surprised and wanting another mystery to read next. I appreciate this in a Christian author and look forward to more of her works.

Freddie and Grace are at it again and I loved it. I love the messes that Grace gets into and the heroics that Frederick goes to in order to save her. Their story is so sweet and the suspense is perfect. I escpecially loved this thought from Frederick- “And he had to trust the people he loved most to the one who loved them more.” What a beautiful truth. You really do not want to miss out on the Highland Heist!

The Highland Heist is a cute, cozy mystery with humor and heart. I love the setting in Scotland, and wish more of the book had taken place there.

The main character, Grace, and her husband, Frederick are just returning from their honeymoon. They go to visit Grace's family before settling into their home, but they are met with a mystery almost immediately. The characters were engaging, the banter was fun, and the plot was good.

I now know that it is not the first book in the series. While I had planned to go back and read the books that came before, there were spoilers about previous plots and the identities of several villains were revealed.

This was a quick, cozy read that I would definitely recommend.

The delightful newlyweds, Frederick and Grace, are back again with more mysterious happenings to sort through! The connection and love between these two characters is so wonderful. I am always so happy to read about how much they mean to each other.

The mystery they have to work through and the dangers they have to survive take place in both the United States as well as in Scotland. And Grace has to deal with her sister, Lillias, who is a lot to manage! I liked that Grace’s eyes were opened to the way Lillias really saw her and even though it was painful, it helped Grace stand stronger in herself as a person, as a wife, and as someone who trusts in God for their next steps.

This story kept me highly entertained and I hope there will be at least one more book in this series.

Lord and Lady Astley are drawn into another mystery, this time involving Grace’s sister and an unexpected inheritance in the Scottish Highlands. I love the Freddie and Grace mysteries, and I was thrilled that the fourth book is set in Scotland. The blend of suspense, clean romance, humor, and witty banter makes it a perfect cozy mystery. The Highland Heist is filled with plot twists, family, love, faith, and adventure.

I love Grace and Freddie together. Grace is hysterical with the way she uses fiction to solve cases that happen to come their way. I love that Freddie accepts her as she is and is even starting to embrace the unconventional life he leads with her. They are one of my favorite couples in literature. I hope Blake gets a focus in a future story. He seems like he's a lively one as well.

There was a ton of danger and urgency with a looming deadline. The story spanned continents. I'm glad Zahra had a key role to play. She's a special girl. I can't wait to read more in the next installment of this series. It's a great read. Go back and start with book one for everything to make sense.

Thank you to Barbour Fiction for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

A whirlwind of intrigue and family drama as Grace and Freddie race to find the answers and overcome the obstacles meant to foil their success.

Grace and Freddie return for a visit to America to find Grace's family in much reduced circumstances, and her sister looking guilty in a murder. While they work to get to the bottom of that mystery, the sisters are mysteriously summoned to Scotland to collect and inheritance on their mother's side, only someone doesn't want them to get there.

A fast-paced read with vibrant characters that brought a smile to my face. Filled with witty and humorous dialogue, husband and wife duo, Freddie and Grace are back to solve another mystery. I loved how Freddie always supports Grace's passions and interests, while also being a solid supporter in times of need. Another great addition to the series, with many familiar faces and new ones along the way. Could be read as a standalone, but not the most ideal way to enjoy this series. High adventure, mystery and romance, with a strong core of faith. Highly recommend this book and the entire series!

Pepper Basham does not disappoint! I have enjoyed each of the other books in this series and this one was no exception. Grace is still the same lovable sleuth, and Frederick seems to really be embracing his role as her partner in the mysteries they continue to find themselves in. I really enjoy watching their relationship continue to grow and deepen as they continue on in their marriage. They have a genuine love and care for each other, which is nice to see portrayed.

This time the mystery involves Grace’s family, so it was a joy to be reacquainted with characters that were met in previous stories. I appreciated the follow up to Lillias after she married Tony Dixon and getting to see how her life was turning out after everything that happened with her in the first book.

I also appreciate the way that genuine faith is positively portrayed in these books. The faith of these characters is woven throughout the story and has some substance to it.

Overall, this story is a cozy mystery with great dialogue and characters. I enjoyed reading it, and hope there are still more to come!

Frederick and Grace have had several exciting adventures on their honeymoon trip to Egypt and Italy, but before returning to England, Frederick surprises Grace with a visit to her family home in America. But the home has been sold and upon their arrival at her sister's house, there is another shock ― Lillias's husband has just been stabbed and she is the prime suspect and the household is in turmoil. Frederick and Grace try to take charge of the situation and find the real murderer. This is complicated by untrustworthy household staff, a phony police officer, and Lillias's uncooperative attitude.

Amidst all this drama, a solicitor arrives to inform the sisters that their late mother left them an inheritance in Scotland, and they need to claim it together. He has been delayed in finding them, and now time is of the essence if they are to claim the property before it is sold. Lillias grasps at this hope of salvaging her finances, but her name must be cleared before they can depart, so Frederick and Grace race to find out who killed Tony and keep themselves alive. It seems that someone wants to keep them from ever reaching Scotland and finding the original copy of the will!

When Lillias recklessly leaves for Scotland by herself, the pressure is really on Frederick and Grace to get there as quickly as possible not only to find the will but to rescue Lillias from the villain they realize is following her. More surprises await them all as they confront a ruthless killer and hunt for a will in a castle rumored to be haunted.

Coincidences and danger seem to follow Grace everywhere she goes, but her sense of adventure and love of books keeps her optimistic and high-spirited. As a character, she has matured over the series, but still seems very young, showing a childlike quality that borders on naivete at times, but her cheerful boldness and determination make her a very appealing and likeable character. She and Frederick are still in the early days of their marriage and both often reflect on the good fortune of their relationship and the devotion is accompanied by some starry-eyed newlywed behavior as well.

The adventures, coincidences, and character quirks are just exaggerated enough to provide drama and humor, although stretching credulity a bit. Grace's love of story and penchant for viewing everything through the lens of books she has read brings a lighthearted quality to the suspenseful situations, and one can't help but cheer for the fairytale happy endings along with her.
