Lord and Lady Astley are at it again!

In this fourth installment of the series, Frederick and Grace return to Grace’s family home—just in time for a new murder mystery to unravel The setting is charming, the tone light, and the plot unfolds at an enjoyable pace, making it a delightful continuation of the series.

I enjoyed the first two books in the series and was delightfully surprised to see a fourth! Although I missed the third book (and look forward to going back to read it), I didn’t feel like I missed any critical information or enjoyment in this one. That said, Book 1 is a must-read before diving into this one.

This is a true cozy mystery with low-stakes suspense—perfect for readers who enjoy wit over gore. Once again, the series delivers the same charm and cleverness that I associate with The Thin Man films. The banter between Frederick and Grace is sharp and engaging, the romance is sweet, and Grace continues to be a quirky, endearing heroine.

The novel is humorous, romantic, suspenseful, and refreshingly lighthearted for the genre.. I especially appreciated the continued development of Frederick and Grace’s relationship. It grows deeper with each installment, and I hope we’ll see them again—perhaps back at Havensbrook, or even in a book centered on Mr. Blake!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Such a wonderful adventure that I felt like I was there with Grace and her husband Lord Astley. I didn't want this to end.
Basham has done an excellent job with the guessing game for us readers. I thought I knew but it turned out a no. It was definitely a surprise
I got to visit Scotland without leaving the comfort of my home. Beautiful scenery!

I just finished The Highland Heist and what a fun story! I have read the previous adventures of Lord and Lady Astley and this is my favorite! You can read this as a stand-alone novel, but will enjoy it more if you have read the three books before.

In the Highland Heist, Grace and Frederick have finished their honeymoon and make a quick stop to America to surprise Grace's father and sister. Upon finding her father has sold the family home to pay his debts, they arrive at Grace's sister's house to find Lillias holding a knife over her dead husband's body! She maintains her innocence but the evidence mounts against her. To complicate matters, a solicitor arrives to inform Grace and Lillias that their dearly departed mother has left them an inheritance from beyond the grave! The sisters have just one month to claim their paternal grandfather's estate or it will be sold at auction. As the sisters prepare to leave for Scotland, strange things begin to happen. It becomes very clear that someone wants the estate for themselves and will do practically anything to keep the ladies from claiming their inheritance.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Highland Heist. It has humor, mystery, and a tough of romance. It is a Christian book, so it has strong themes of trusting God in all circumstances and being thankful for what you have without being preachy. I love the characters of Grace and Frederick and I hope the author will write more of their adventures!

Okay, I devoured this newest book by Pepper Basham. The Highland Heist is book 4 in her Frederick and Grace Mystery series. The adventures and shenanigans and the comedic relief throughout these books are Pepper at her finest. And, of course, you can’t read one of her fabulous tales without oodles of romance, especially kissing scenes. That’s just a given ;) I’m telling you, you want to read this series!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

Our favorite adventurous dynamic duo returns for another exciting, intense, and dangerous adventure. However Grace and Freddie can handle just about anything life throws at them.
Our story starts with a trip to America and from there problems seem to arise. There is the loss of the family home, a murder, and an unexpected inheritance. However, with everything going on danger seems to be lurking everywhere and almost everyone seems to be a suspect. A trip to Scotland also proves to be a daring adventure for our heros to solve a dark mystery.
I swear with each passing book in this series the adventures continue to amaze me. The characters are flawless and the villains will intrigue you. I've heard there will be a 5th book in this series so who knows what that will bring.
I received an ARC copy from NetGalley and all opinions are of my own

I love Grace and Freddie mysteries, and this one won’t disappoint! Go on a new adventure with Grace, Freddie, their new daughter and other mysterious characters. If you’ve enjoyed the other books in this series, you need to pick up The Highland Heist!

THE HIGHLAND HEIST is the third novel in the Grace and Frederick romantic suspense series by PEPPER BASHAM, but it can easily stand alone. I loved all three novels and this is definitely no exception - what a delightful read with interesting characters, humour, witty dialogue, and of course the adventures, complete with villains and even the odd ghost, that seem to follow Grace around, testing her sleuthing skills!
Grace and Frederick are still on honeymoon. The book opens with “ Perfect husbands were rare, except perhaps in fiction, but Grace Percy, Countess of Asrley, had married the equivalent, of this she was certain”, and carries on further with Grace reflecting that “married life certainly kept proving to be wonderfully exciting.” I love her sweet innocence and passion for life and the inagination and inspiration that comes from immersing herself in fiction. She and Freddie are unexpectedly well suited and adore each ther…..
Freddie decides to take Grace back to Harrington in the States to see her father and her sister Lillias, only to find her father bankrupt, their family home sold, and Lillias a suspect in her husband’s murder. Grace is determined to prove her sister’s innocence, and we see her kindness towards the rude and jealous Lillias coming out strongly……..
The story is largely based on the importance of trusting in the Lord in all situations. This is an altogether lovely book and one I highly recommend.
I am not going to tell you any more for fear of spoiling your read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Barbur Publishing. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

The Highland Heist
What a joy to be transported to the Scotland Highlands complete with castles and mystery. I enjoyed being drawn in to see how the storyline would play out and it did not disappoint. I did not realize this was part of a series so I will be looking for the previous books so I can become more familiar with Grace and Frederick.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.

Pepper Basham is one of my favorite authors, and The Highland Heist is another fantastic book by her! The mix of romance, adventure and Scottish charm was absolutely perfect. The characters are so well written, and the setting was beautifully described. I loved the plot and chemistry between the characters. This book was 5 stars and one everyone would enjoy!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of The Highland Heist by Pepper Basham

Thank you for allowing me to review The Highland Heist! **I will be submitting a review to Amazon as well after the book releases**

Can the dead come back to life? The Highland Heist captures with the thrill of a classic ghost story and a mystery twist that no one would suspect.

For those who have fallen in love with Lord and Lady Astley and their adventurous spirit, this next book in their story is every bit as sweet, spooky, and mysterious as the last three have proven to be.

When Frederick and Grace return to America, Grace finds her family in shambles. With the recent death of her brother-in-law and her sister under suspicion of murder, a secret inheritance and their very lives could hang in the balance. The Astleys must work together to unwind the mystery behind it all before it’s too late.

I highly recommend reading at least the first book in the series, The Mistletoe Countess, before diving into this one for some background info on the characters and storyline. For those with Abigail Wilson and Kristi Ann Hunter on their bookshelves, you won’t regret adding this one too!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

A good cozy mystery set in Scotland. Two sisters must go to claim their inheritance, but someone doesn’t want them to succeed. Good story, but at times felt like it could have been two different stories. Still though, enjoyed this one and would recommend it.

Pepper Basham’s "The Highland Heist" delivers another delightful installment in the Freddie and Grace Mystery series, brimming with charm, wit, and heart. This fourth adventure sees Lord Frederick Astley and his irrepressible wife, Grace, swept into a whirlwind of danger and intrigue as they race from America to the Scottish Highlands to clear Grace’s sister, Lillias, of a murder accusation and claim a mysterious inheritance.

Charming, Humorous Characters
Basham’s talent for crafting endearing, humorous characters shines throughout the novel. Freddie and Grace’s dynamic sparkles with playful banter and genuine affection. Their contrasting personalities-Freddie’s reserved seriousness and Grace’s adventurous spirit-continue to create both comedic and heartfelt moments, making their partnership as sleuths both believable and entertaining. The supporting cast, including the enigmatic Lillias and the resourceful Zahra, add further depth and warmth to the story. As for Blake, you'd want to set him up with your best friend or perhaps ditch your own husband for him the moment he arrives.

Freddie’s Growth as a Detective
One of the novel’s most rewarding aspects is witnessing Freddie’s evolution. Under Grace’s lively influence, Freddie emerges as a true detective, his worldview expanding beyond the rigid confines of his aristocratic upbringing. Basham skillfully shows how Grace’s relentless optimism and curiosity inspire Freddie to embrace adventure, face danger with courage, and approach mysteries with a sharper, more open mind. Their teamwork is a testament to the power of mutual growth in a loving relationship.

Lillias’s Redemption Arc
Lillias, whose introduction in the first book left readers with mixed feelings, finally gets her chance at redemption. Basham weaves Lillias’s journey with empathy and suspense, keeping readers guessing about her fate until the very end. The question of whether she can overcome her past and prove her innocence adds emotional resonance to the central mystery.

Grace’s Maternal Instincts and Zahra’s Role
A standout subplot is Grace’s evolving maternal side as Zahra, a spirited ten-year-old, becomes part of their found family. Zahra’s presence not only brings out Grace’s nurturing instincts but also injects youthful energy and mischief into the narrative. She proves to be the perfect companion for Grace’s adventurous nature, and their bond adds a tender, heartwarming layer to the story.

Conclusion
"The Highland Heist" is a sparkling blend of humor, heart, and high-stakes mystery, anchored by a cast of characters readers can’t help but adore. Basham’s deft touch with character development, especially Freddie’s growth and Lillias’s redemption, ensures this installment is both satisfying and memorable. Fans of the series-and newcomers alike-will find themselves swept up in the Astleys’ latest escapade, eagerly awaiting the next chapter in their adventures.

This is the first book I have read in this series, so I can definitely confirm that it can be read as a standalone. I loved the relationship between Frederick and Grace and the mystery was good too. I felt it finished a little abruptly though.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ah. My favorite little detective duo! I was so happy to go back into Freddie and Grace's world! They just make me smile. Their romance is so sweet. This book picks up shortly after the conclusion of the previous book--so while they aren't TOO connected, it wouldn't hurt to go back and start from teh beginning of the series to understand. Actually--you ESPECIALLY need book 1 before this one. Because it sort of picks up with the relationship of the sisters from that conclusion.

Grace's sister still annoys the crap out of me. LOL.

Blake is soooo much fun and I hope he gets his romance. I'd love to see Elliot again too.

I simply adore all the times that Grace gets lost in her train of thought as she's whisked away to comparisons to books she's read. And she can't ever forget her rope! ;)

I guessed the villain--and was tickled that I was correct. ;) ANNNNDDDD we got to go explore a castle in Scotland with Grace!

Very fun. Make me smile. So I will give it 5 stars.

*Thank you to the publishers and NetGAlley for my ARC of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.

Five stars!

Another win for Pepper Basham! Fredrick and Grace are still as adorable as the first book. I love that Grace relies on knowledge gained from books and Fredrick loves her just the way she is and has a knack for detective work. The mystery doesn’t feel forced and Grace’s enthusiasm is contagious.

There is adventure, humor, love, mystery, and imperfect characters who just fit perfectly into the narrative. I found myself sneaking pages in any chance I could.

PG: death, kisses, married couple wanting time for themselves, peril

*I received an ARC from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Pepper Basham's Freddie and Grace series has had my heart from the very beginning. It's so refreshing to read about this happily married couple as they embark on adventures around the world. The attention to detail when it comes to the locations (Scotland! Castles! ) they visit gives the book a nice atmospheric feel that really immerses you in the story. I especially appreciate that Freddie and Grace always grow in their faith and grow together when they encounter hardships and setbacks.

The witty banter, romance, mystery, and suspense that are hallmarks of the first three books bring this fourth installment to a very satisfying conclusion.

I believe I discovered Pepper Basham last year. She’s a gifted author and one of my personal favorites. I love this series about Freddie and Grace. Their growing relationship continues to proceed naturally. I loved the addition of Zahra, their adopted 10 year old daughter. She’s so spunky. This book had me laughing out loud several times. When I read a Pepoer Basham book it’s like being wrapped in a warm reading hug. The adventures and settings are always intriguing and unique. This is a series I will reread.

I was blessed with an ARC and the opinions expressed are my own and unbiased. Highly recommend the entire series.

I love Freddie and Grace! They remind me of the 80s TV show Hart To Hart, but set in the early 1900s. Freddie and Grace have a fabulous marriage and I enjoy reading about their adventures. I think adding their adopted daughter Zahra made their story even better! So grab a pot of tea, your umbrella because you never know, and curl up for a fantastic adventure to the Scottish Highlands!

I was given a copy of this book with no expectations. Al thought's are my own.
