I'm a person who normally doesn't pick up a mystery on my own unless it is for book club and there are some of those that I don't even read because they are too scary for me because I'm a fraidy cat. But this is the second mystery that I have read this month which is totally strange plus I have started another one that has a mystery over tone.
You might ask why read The Highland Heist if I don't like mysteries, well that is easy. First of all, it is the location being in Scotland I was sold. I love to read books that take place in places I have traveled to and every once in a while, the book will talk about something that I have seen while traveling and this book is no different. The second reason was the author Pepper Basham who is becoming one of my go to authors and I have read many of her other book including The Mistletoe Countess, which is the first book in this series, so I knew that Ms. Basham would add quite a bit of humor to go with the serious stuff. And I wasn't disappointed because it was a fun and a enjoyable read.
I was able to follow along with the story even though I didn't read The Cario Curse or The Juliet Code which are books two and three though I'm sure that it might have been helpful who know maybe one day I might go back and reread the whole series once again.
I want to thank Net Galley, Barbour Publishing and Pepper Basham for allowing me a chance to read an advance copy of this book.

I absolutely adored this book. The Freddie and Grace series have all captured my interest and this is no exception. The author, Pepper Basham, has continued adorable personality and fiction loving personality of Grace. And the calm demeanor of Freddie who is completely in love with his wife and her sleuth adventures that somehow seem to simply fall into her lap. I love the relationship that these two are building as they are on their honeymoon tour. And I truly hope this is not the last installment of this series.

Thanks to Netgalley and Barbour publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.. This is another delightfully charming story with Grace and Frederick solving another mystery, this one involving Grace's sister. So much fun!

This is book four in the Fredrick & Grace Mystery Series, even though it is a stand alone, I do feel like I not only missed some amazing books, but a lot of history in Fredrick and Grace, and would have helped to make this book even better. I will go back and read the other books in this series as I am sure they are all as good as this one. All that being said you can read this one without having to read the others to enjoy the book.
I loved the relationship between Fredrick and Grace. This book is full of mystery, humor, romance and more. I love the writing style of this author, she does a great job and keeping your interest, she develops her characters well and paints an amazing picture. I would recommend this book to anyone that love historical romance. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

The Highland Heist
Fredrick & Grace Mystery #4
Pepper Basham
This is the fourth book in the Fredrick & Gracie Mystery.
Lord Frederick and Gracie Astley are on their way home from their fabulous honeymoon. They toured Egypt and Italy. Frederick surprises Gracie with a trip to visit her family in America. Lillias, Grace’s sister, is suspected of murdering her husband. Gracie and Freddy investigate the murder. As if that wasn’t serious enough, the two sisters receive a visit from a solicitor; the sister’s must head to Scotland as soon as possible to claim their mother’s inheritance. Of course, Lillias name must be cleared of all suspicion. Could someone be trying to stop the sisters from arriving in Scotland in time. Freddie and Grace rush to Scotland after Lillias vanishes; they are sure they will find the answers to their questions in the old castle.
Mr. Kane, an odd man, is just waiting to claim the inheritance for himself. A person from Frederick’s past leaves hints for him. It is up to Freddie and Grace to storm the castle. They must save Lillias, but will they all survive?
This is the first book I’ve read in this series. It won’t be the last. This is a humorous tale. The characters are well done. I love watching Freddy and Grace as their love grows deeper. They are so good together, it is as if they are made for each other. Gracie leads the investigation and Freddie, who will follow her anywhere, assists the woman he adores. Trouble/murder seems to follow Grace. Zahra, the adopted daughter of Freddie and Grace, listens and observes. She stays quiet, rarely drawing attention to herself. This tale is Christian fiction; however, it is not an in-your-face tale nor is it preachy. While this book stands alone, I do recommend reading the books in order. I love this book and you will too
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

The Highland Heist is such a delightful mystery! Pepper Basham delivers witty banter, a clever plot, and all the charm of the Scottish Highlands wrapped into one fun and engaging story. The mystery kept me guessing, and the characters—especially the dynamic duo of Freemie & Grace—were absolutely fantastic.
If you enjoy cozy mysteries with humor, heart, and a splash of romance, this one’s a gem. A great read from start to finish!

It's astounding to think that Freddie and Grace are only just returning home after their grand honeymoon adventures in Egypt and Italy. Considering how well they work together—personally and professionally as amateur detectives—it has been wonderful to see their temperaments complement one another when they are such different people. This fact is reinforced even more upon encountering Lillias, Grace's sister, once again. Embroiled in another mystery that hits closer to home, Freddie and Grace further discover the strengths and gifts they see in each other. In facing one perilous situation after another, Lord and Lady Astley deepen their trust in God as they encounter the most unintentional skirmishes facing their loved ones, creating a thrilling adventure for readers.
Pepper Basham is skilled at adding a touch of whimsy to the Freddie and Grace mysteries, creating an effective recipe for charm, dashing love, and wit. Getting to observe a married couple work through issues together is a refreshing reminder that God can do incredible things when a husband and wife are united in Him. I love that Freddie and Grace pray for each other's protection and that their actions are selfless. Their adopted daughter, Zahra, is clever and proves to be the perfect scene-stealer. If you've been following along with these mysteries, you'll enjoy this foray into Scotland while discovering family secrets and seeing the Astleys deepen their spiritual bond in tending to their loved ones.

It was just supposed to be a quick trip to America to visit her family, but things are never quite that simple for Lord & Lady Astley. Trouble seems to follow them where ever they go!
Shocking murder accusations, a surprise inheritance, and a trail of clues leads Freddie and Grace on an adventure of a lifetime that takes them to a mysterious castle in Scotland.
I had a terrible time putting this book down! Delightfully witty and charming, swoonworthy romance, mystery and intrigue....this novel really has it all! I loved it so much!!
I especially love the deep affection that Freddie and Grace share for eachother. Their love goes so much further than skin deep and is especially evident in some difficult situations they encounter together. And Grace is just fantastic! While incredibly humorous, she is also a woman of great depth and character!
(A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own.)

Another adventure with Grace and Freddy, and as usual you wonder if either of these two will survive to the end.
As this read begins we are visiting back at Grace's home in America, but end up with startling news, and then with a visit to her sister, we find a murder. This happens in a few short pages, but we are quickly turning the rest of the book for answers.
We do end up in Scotland, and again, how or will they make it out alive?
The sister's are reunited, we meet the new baby, and find a fresh body. People keep getting hit on the head, and danger appears to be everywhere.
There is a new inheritance that needs to be found, and the adventures keep giving. A delightful read that sure keeps your attention from beginning to end.
In the end I wanted to to keep going on in these character's lives, I need or want to know more!
Hoping for more answers in the next book?
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour, and was not required to give a positive review.

Pepper Basham does it again! The Highland Heist is an action-filled, treacherous mystery for Lord and Lady Astley to solve, only this time, peril is overly close to home this time, and people are being injured or killed at an alarming rate. Basham has embraced the spookiness of an ancient castle, Mosslea, for part of this plot, and readers encounter ghosts and folklore as our dear, aristocratic sleuths dig for clues and fight to survive. Of course, as any Basham book fan knows, Freddie and Grace, are still just as in love as ever, so readers get to enjoy a small slice of romance amidst the peril and mystery. Blake once again joins the plot, and the reader must feel relief that Freddie and Grace for sure have someone in their corner to help them solve this case! Zahra, Freddie and Grace’s adopted daughter, is a sweet and lovely addition to the family and to the story. I appreciate that Freddie loves her well, and I also enjoy that Zahra and Grace seem to work well together during these mysterious escapades. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good mystery, adventure, and romance, or just to fans of Pepper Basham’s books. This book is an excellent continuation of the story of our dear Lord and Lady Astley. I cannot wait for the next adventure!

Lord and Lady Astley are at it again!
In this fourth installment of the series, Frederick and Grace return to Grace’s family home—just in time for a new murder mystery to unravel The setting is charming, the tone light, and the plot unfolds at an enjoyable pace, making it a delightful continuation of the series.
I enjoyed the first two books in the series and was delightfully surprised to see a fourth! Although I missed the third book (and look forward to going back to read it), I didn’t feel like I missed any critical information or enjoyment in this one. That said, Book 1 is a must-read before diving into this one.
This is a true cozy mystery with low-stakes suspense—perfect for readers who enjoy wit over gore. Once again, the series delivers the same charm and cleverness that I associate with The Thin Man films. The banter between Frederick and Grace is sharp and engaging, the romance is sweet, and Grace continues to be a quirky, endearing heroine.
The novel is humorous, romantic, suspenseful, and refreshingly lighthearted for the genre.. I especially appreciated the continued development of Frederick and Grace’s relationship. It grows deeper with each installment, and I hope we’ll see them again—perhaps back at Havensbrook, or even in a book centered on Mr. Blake!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've absolutely enjoyed this series and this is my favorite book in this series.
Wow! Such a wonderful adventure that I felt like I was there with Grace and her husband Lord Astley. I didn't want this to end.
Basham has done an excellent job with the guessing game for us readers. I thought I knew but it turned out a no. It was definitely a surprise
I got to visit Scotland without leaving the comfort of my home. Beautiful scenery!
Just some great all around writing and I'm giving this book 5 stars for a great adventure! I highly recommend!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

This is one of my absolute favorite book series!
Grace is off on another adventure, this time in America and Scotland!
There are so many dangers, twists, and turns throughout this storyline!
I love all the unexpected “surprises”. I didn’t want to put the book down!
Highly recommend this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

I just finished The Highland Heist and what a fun story! I have read the previous adventures of Lord and Lady Astley and this is my favorite! You can read this as a stand-alone novel, but will enjoy it more if you have read the three books before.
In the Highland Heist, Grace and Frederick have finished their honeymoon and make a quick stop to America to surprise Grace's father and sister. Upon finding her father has sold the family home to pay his debts, they arrive at Grace's sister's house to find Lillias holding a knife over her dead husband's body! She maintains her innocence but the evidence mounts against her. To complicate matters, a solicitor arrives to inform Grace and Lillias that their dearly departed mother has left them an inheritance from beyond the grave! The sisters have just one month to claim their paternal grandfather's estate or it will be sold at auction. As the sisters prepare to leave for Scotland, strange things begin to happen. It becomes very clear that someone wants the estate for themselves and will do practically anything to keep the ladies from claiming their inheritance.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Highland Heist. It has humor, mystery, and a tough of romance. It is a Christian book, so it has strong themes of trusting God in all circumstances and being thankful for what you have without being preachy. I love the characters of Grace and Frederick and I hope the author will write more of their adventures!

Okay, I devoured this newest book by Pepper Basham. The Highland Heist is book 4 in her Frederick and Grace Mystery series. The adventures and shenanigans and the comedic relief throughout these books are Pepper at her finest. And, of course, you can’t read one of her fabulous tales without oodles of romance, especially kissing scenes. That’s just a given ;) I’m telling you, you want to read this series!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

Our favorite adventurous dynamic duo returns for another exciting, intense, and dangerous adventure. However Grace and Freddie can handle just about anything life throws at them.
Our story starts with a trip to America and from there problems seem to arise. There is the loss of the family home, a murder, and an unexpected inheritance. However, with everything going on danger seems to be lurking everywhere and almost everyone seems to be a suspect. A trip to Scotland also proves to be a daring adventure for our heros to solve a dark mystery.
I swear with each passing book in this series the adventures continue to amaze me. The characters are flawless and the villains will intrigue you. I've heard there will be a 5th book in this series so who knows what that will bring.
I received an ARC copy from NetGalley and all opinions are of my own

I love Grace and Freddie mysteries, and this one won’t disappoint! Go on a new adventure with Grace, Freddie, their new daughter and other mysterious characters. If you’ve enjoyed the other books in this series, you need to pick up The Highland Heist!

THE HIGHLAND HEIST is the third novel in the Grace and Frederick romantic suspense series by PEPPER BASHAM, but it can easily stand alone. I loved all three novels and this is definitely no exception - what a delightful read with interesting characters, humour, witty dialogue, and of course the adventures, complete with villains and even the odd ghost, that seem to follow Grace around, testing her sleuthing skills!
Grace and Frederick are still on honeymoon. The book opens with “ Perfect husbands were rare, except perhaps in fiction, but Grace Percy, Countess of Asrley, had married the equivalent, of this she was certain”, and carries on further with Grace reflecting that “married life certainly kept proving to be wonderfully exciting.” I love her sweet innocence and passion for life and the inagination and inspiration that comes from immersing herself in fiction. She and Freddie are unexpectedly well suited and adore each ther…..
Freddie decides to take Grace back to Harrington in the States to see her father and her sister Lillias, only to find her father bankrupt, their family home sold, and Lillias a suspect in her husband’s murder. Grace is determined to prove her sister’s innocence, and we see her kindness towards the rude and jealous Lillias coming out strongly……..
The story is largely based on the importance of trusting in the Lord in all situations. This is an altogether lovely book and one I highly recommend.
I am not going to tell you any more for fear of spoiling your read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Barbur Publishing. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

The Highland Heist
What a joy to be transported to the Scotland Highlands complete with castles and mystery. I enjoyed being drawn in to see how the storyline would play out and it did not disappoint. I did not realize this was part of a series so I will be looking for the previous books so I can become more familiar with Grace and Frederick.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.

Pepper Basham is one of my favorite authors, and The Highland Heist is another fantastic book by her! The mix of romance, adventure and Scottish charm was absolutely perfect. The characters are so well written, and the setting was beautifully described. I loved the plot and chemistry between the characters. This book was 5 stars and one everyone would enjoy!
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of The Highland Heist by Pepper Basham
