At home, at work, and at school each member of the family (except the dogs!) are having a mixed-up and disappointing day. Even when they get home things go awry until they make supper and singing and have a good evening because "what makes it all work is being together."
The illustrations by Morgan Goble are delightful, colorful, and fun!
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, waiting room, or your local public library! Pub Date Oct 21, 2025

Just Another Perfect Day by Jillian Harris and Justin Pasutto is a heartfelt and relatable story that captures the ups and downs of everyday family life. With honesty and warmth, the authors portray how a less-than-perfect day can be transformed through love, perspective, and togetherness. The central message is both timeless and deeply resonant: “Each day isn’t perfect; no family is, ever. But what makes it all work is being together.”
Morgan Goble’s illustrations strike a lovely balance between realism and charm, offering visual appeal for young readers while thoughtfully reflecting the emotions of the story. The attention to detail on each page adds richness, encouraging children and parents alike to linger and explore the artwork.
Recommended for children ages 3–7, this story has a universal quality that will speak to readers of all ages. I can easily see families returning to this book during tough moments as a source of comfort and reassurance. It’s a gentle reminder that even imperfect days can hold beautiful meaning when shared with the ones we love.
Just Another Perfect Day will be released on October 21, 2025—but I’ve already preordered it for my own family. It’s a book we’ll reach for often, especially when we need the reminder that togetherness matters most.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Every family can relate to having an extra chaotic day now and then. The charming illustrations turn groans into giggles as the family persistently tries their best to salvage the day, no matter what latest tragedy befalls them. The book's central message about what truly matters when times get tough and overall optimism are clear but not preachy, making this a delightfully funny and uplifting read.

I’m surprised by this book. I wasn’t expecting to like it, but I really did. It’s about how a family starts their day knowing it’s going to be no good and gets the results they expect. But when they come together to hash things out and talk things over, they realize the day isn’t so bad and ends up better than they could have expected. For being written by a celebrity this is a good book. Even without being a celebrity it’s a good book. There are some issues with the rhymes, especially in the very beginning and in the very end, but for the most part, the rhymes and the cadence are there, they match the story, and the illustrations are a perfect component to make this a rather enjoyable book.

What’s your perfect day? When things aren’t going as planned, it’s easy to get bogged down by the little things. But through the words and illustrations in Just Another Perfect Day, the authors and illustrators bring modern dilemmas into this tale of two parents, two kiddos, and two very wild dogs.
If you’re late, or grab the wrong lunch, or you didn’t get enough sleep the night before, you don’t have to hold onto those feelings all day. Harris, Pasutto, and Goble show readers that by talking through your experiences, you can let go and even laugh.
For fans of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and the Berenstain Bear series, this illustrated children’s book reminds us that this, too, shall pass.

This is a really well-made and fun book! There were A LOT of different plot points that gave the entire book a chaotic feel, which actually fit very nicely. Not very many authors can pull off the comfortable balance of chaos and excitement, but the author of this book definitely found it, which is impressive! On top of that, the ending was so heartwarming and added a beautiful note of finality to the end of the story. It was also clear that the author and illustrated worked very well together, because the illustrations had the same amount of chaotic fun that the story did, and this added a lot of cohesion to the overall book. Lastly, I really liked that the author acknowledged and taught young readers that not every day is going to be perfect, but as long as you're with those you love you can find the good in every day. Bravo!!

An okay picture book but it has a very American feel to it. The nuclear family felt like cartoon versions of a tiktok influencer family. I don't envisage much appeal to UK markets. The story was cute and had a nice message but it didn't add anything new.
The artwork is lovely though very Disneyfied. All a bit too squeaky clean.

This is such an adorable children's book! My daughter absolutely loved it! I was an amazing way to show kids, and the parents reading it, that even bad days can be turned around!! Will definitely be buying this book for my daughters bookshelf!

I loved this book, everyone can relate with it! Somedays are just like the one in this story. In the end we always have each other to get through it.
