The story is set in a chilling environment, with brutality and sensitive topics. I was hooked on books until 3 a.m. at night.

The story has been told with dual POVs, with Chloe's version telling past POVs and Fletcher narrating the future investigation of Chloe's disappearance.

The chapters are short and fast-paced, and they end with a few cliffhangers that keep you guessing what happens next.

Although the twist seems predictable, it catches me by surprise. It has invoked lots of emotion, outrage, and sadness in me.

The bonus chapter at the end adds one more star to the story.

This book had me hooked from the eerie premise and didn’t let go. The isolated hot springs setting gave it a haunting, almost claustrophobic vibe, and the tension just kept building. I knew the uncle was no good, there was something off from the start, but what really caught me off guard was the twist with Chloe’s daughter secretly returning and impersonating her own mother. That was wild, and while it seemed strange at first, the author made it work in a way that was both bold and satisfying.

Some parts dragged a little, and a few side characters felt underdeveloped. Still, the core mystery and emotional stakes kept me turning the pages late into the night.

If you’re into small-town secrets, twisted family ties, and a slow-burn unraveling of the past, this one’s definitely worth picking up.

This book was amazing! It had my mind going back and forth trying to figure out what was going to happen! My mind never figured out that ending though!

Wow, this was intense and immediately gripped me from the beginning. It was so fast-paced I flew through and couldn't take my eyes off the pages. I loved all of the characters and the plot twists were great. This dealt with some pretty heavy topics but it was almost done in a nice way if that makes sense. Steph Nelson has been kind of hit or miss for me but this was definitely a hit. Such a great thriller.

This is the second book I’ve read by Nelson and it did not disappoint! I was honestly hooked from the start and couldn’t put it down and the short chapters had me flying through it. I loved the multiple POVs and the Then and Now timelines, it really added to the story and seeing everything come together. Nelson has a way writing dark books and this was no exception. I do have to say that some of the twists were predicable and I did guess them early on, but it was a WILD ride getting to them all.

Overall, I highly recommend this twisty, dark thriller and I can’t wait to read more by Nelson!

Ugh okay. This one was SOO GOOD. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy her other book, the final scene. I’m thinking it was because I was in a slump, so I wasn’t feeling it and DNF’d it. I AN SO HAPPY I READ THIS one! (Will be giving The Final Scene Another chance for sure!!)

This was quite creepy, completely twist, and had my jaw in the floor.

Awesome book that kept me interested and captivated. I didn’t want to put it down! This was a brand new author for me and I wasn’t disappointed! 5 stars!

Amazing!!! This book kept me on my toes from start to finish, I had some ideas about the ending but those twists were well worth the read! My eyes hugged out, my heart stopped, and then… WOW.

Some parts made me sick to my stomach, just because of the subject matter and how realistically the story was written.

I went into this thriller completely blind, not knowing anything about the author, and. I was hooked from the beginning, It's suspenseful, of course, but what really got me was the emotional depth. It deals with some really dark stuff, but the author handles it with such sensitivity. The dual timelines and POVs Frankie and Chloe kept me guessing, and I couldn't put it down. Definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.

Steph Nelson consistently delivers quick, punchy thrillers that I just can't not read in a couple of sittings. They are just so good! Last One Out has a great storyline, plenty of anxious ridden scenes, and why does Steph only have three books out?!

I absolutely enjoyed reading this. Will definitely be recommending. Kept me really hooked I'll love to reread again

This book grabbed me from the start and kept me interested the whole time. It goes back and forth between the past when Chloe went missing to the present when she returned. There twists and turns snd punches to the gut. I highly recommend this book.

Loved this one by Steph Nelson! She is such a queen at twists. This one had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I really love the bond between Frankie and Chloe.

LAST ONE OUT builds tension and suspense with each little reveal. The pacing was well done, and I didn’t mind time shifts from past to present. I felt like this book benefited from the POV shifts through time.
I got a good sense of the area it was set in, Idaho, and the region's landscape, which is an almost secondary character throughout.
As usual, Steph Nelson delivers a compelling read that I finished in just a few sittings. LAST ONE OUT is the thriller you need right NOW!

Wow. An amazing thriller that had me hooked from start to finish. I read this book in one sitting and stayed up until 4 am to do so. I loved how easy this book was to read, jumping straight into the action it had me invested from chapter 1. I loved the different character povs and the jumps in timeline from past to present, this along with the short chapters made this book addictive. The plot twists were simultaneously jaw dropping and heart breaking. I will definitely be reading more of this authors work.
