I love this series! The banter is great. Their relationship is the cutest and I love the dragons! and the overall arc connected well and the narrator has done a fantastic job throughout the whole series

and the Bobbi and Sirena short at the end? precious!

If there was a more pun-tastic book, this wins! I was laughing out loud.

Although, I’ve yet to read books 1-3 of this cozy fantasy (I definitely will after this!), I enjoyed the story nonetheless. Reyna and Kienthe’s relationship is very sweet. Kienthe cares deeply for Reyna and her acts of service to her really shows it. The audiobook narrator, Jessica Threet, did a great job telling the story and differentiating the characters especially Reyna’s accent, which I really enjoyed.

I would definitely recommend this book to the fantasy lovers but would recommend reading books 1-3 first.

Thank you NetGalley and MacMillan audio for providing me this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review!

I am not sure if is because it’s the most recently read of the series or if it is the best in the series. But I really loved it as a conclusion to this cozy adventure series.

I’m here for the puns, dragons, adventure and endearing queer love stories.

The adventure felt a little more high stakes in this one which did make it hard to put down.

What a sweet series.

Thanks to netgalley and Macmillan audio for an alc

Another 5-star book from Rebecca Thorne! I am obsessed with this series. I am heartbreaking that this is the end. I loved the way the series wrapped up, but I am so sad to leave these characters. I guess it's time for a reread.

Spoilers ahead, I will try to keep it to a minimum.

I have read all these books and I adore them. While a bit spicier than the usual cozy series, it has all the other trademarks.

Charming setting
Wonderful characters that make you feel like you’re coming home every time you revisit them (seriously, I can’t pass the books in stores without wanting to touch them).
Action that, while often high stakes, never seems too explicitly gory or graphic.
Pockets of levity, adorable moments… all the feels honestly.
Reyna and Kienthe have been through everything- leaving their old worlds behind, fending off dragon attacks, outwitting bandits and pirates, learning how to be shop owners, getting married, displacing a corrupt monarch and finally becoming soverein. You woulds think this would allow them a moment’s rest. No. Now we have innept kidnappers, sick stones, enslaved dragons and… tourists. Their little town is overrun and their neighbors are at their wits end. Rogue alchemists and messy magical politics have nothing on the mass that have camped out waiting to see the tea shoppe like it’s freaking Disney Land.

Filled with warmth, laughter and terrible puns; returning to Tawney with this couple is like coming home. When it looked like the shop would have to close, even I cried. We got to see a lot of old characters here, and meet a few new ones. I actually loved Al Chemicore (the Alchemicore- alchemists’ answer to the mage of ages). He was interesting, funny and charming in a “what the heck are social niceties” sort of way. This book threw me a couple curveballs and made me re-evaluate characters. There’s a lot of growth, and we see several relationships grow. I loved this. For me, this was a five star book.

As far as adult content, there is light sexual content (level two spice tops), language, drinking, violence, trauma and references to animal abuse. I would say adults, possibly new adults though younger would find it interesting too.

While this does wrap up the tomes and tea series, it leaves room for new series. A beloved pirate is missing, a pirate war is on the horizon…. and there may have been talk about a favorite couple’s child getting a story down the line. I am here for this.

I was lucky enough to recieve an advanced audio copy of this book from Netgalley and Macmillan audio in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my owm. My thanks!

Thank you to the book’s publisher and NetGalley for the ARC digital copy. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions are my own.

The book’s description sounded promising and I was excited to begin reading. Unfortunately, the ARC audiobook was just not enjoyable to me and I chose to DNF, I may try the print version at sometime in the future.

3 stars out of respect for the author.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is a cozy fantasy with just enough action to satisfy. Now I must confess that I have not read the first three books in this series. Fortunately, however, author Rebecca Thorne, gives just enough reminders of what has happened previously to make it possible for the reader to enjoy this story without having read any others. At the same time, she doesn't include so much of the previous material that those who have read the earlier works become bored. One thing I appreciated about Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is the relationship between Reyna and Kianthe which happens in an unobtrusive way, naturally flowing with the story. I'd also like to mention that the narrator of the audiobook, Jessica Threet, does a wonderful job delineating the characters and is pleasant to listen to. I fully recommend this book to fantasy lovers!

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆
The narration was cozy and charming, and I loved the little details about the magical tea shop. The plot moved slowly in places, though, and some of the alchemy elements felt underexplored. Still, there were a few moments of clever problem‑solving and lighthearted banter that kept me listening.

Rebecca blends DND elements into her novels so well I devoured this book so quickly. The tea and slice of home in their own little corner of town is the background theme in this book. It feels like you can just go on without reading the other novels in the series but you just make you want to read them. Plus dragons.

The novel addresses so many real life scenarios. The aftermath of a new government in place, Infrastructure not handling an influx of people and dealing with power prejudice.

I don't want to spoil it but the people who use Alchemy are considered second class citizens and even more dangerous then the Elementals who use magic and honestly the amount of prejudice is instilled when training kids that there is something wrong with you if cant draw magic from the stone is infuriating.

Spoiler Alert

Reyna and Kianthe confronting their feelings on the decision of leaving Tawney had me in tears. Like this was their home but leaving in order for the friends and family to have the same type of peace. I love that there was a conversation (a bit forced but needed) about their feelings instead of bottling it up because saying your fine when your not fine is something we have been trained to do a little too well.

Plus I like how the ending felt like a closure of a chapter but also a passing of a torch

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea shifts focus from its cozy beginnings to a faster-paced, adventure packed story. While it is easy to read and easy to follow the story, I missed the warmth of the tea shop setting that made the first book so charming. The alchemist didn’t feel as threatening as it could have, which made the stakes fall a little flat. That said, the deepening relationship between Reyna and Kianthe was a delightful highlight and their growing love added a sweet, heartfelt touch to the story.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea might be my fave in the Tomes & Tea series, each book just gets better and better. Reyna and Kianthe are so sweet together and they have a very healthy and very realistic relationship. I absolutely love getting to continue to explore with them even after their ‘happily ever after’.
i got the audiobook ARC (thanks NetGalley, Macmillan Audio & Bramble!) and jessica threet crushed it, esp with Ponder, gold coin & pill bug. This world is so rich, cozy and chaotic in the best way. rebecca thorne blends adventure, mental health rep, and queer joy perfectly.

Every book in this series gets better. Kianthe and Reyna are so sweet. I loved seeing more of Kianthe's history. They are so adorable and we get a really satisfying ending to their quartet of books. But we're not leaving these characters behind entirely and we have a little epilogue that leaves you wondering. I knew Rebecca Thorne was planning to continue in this world but I wasn't sure with who so I went to her website to find out. Suffice to say, I am VERY excited for the next part of this series. These are such feel good books and I appreciate the time and effort Rebecca has put into her world building.

Thanks to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and Rebecca Thorne for an audiobook ARC of Alchemy and a Cup of Tea. It was really a pleasure to enjoy an ARC as an audiobook, as a slow physical reader it sure helped me. I must admit that I haven’t read the previous books in the Tomes & Teas series but it was still a good read. The author had a good way of depicting various mental health and wellbeing topics along with supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.

This cozy fantasy has more in terms of plot than most, but I still had trouble staying interested. Reyna and Kianthe are wonderful characters who I love very much, however I think I'm done with this series. I find myself too bored through much of their narrative.

☕️ Bookish Thoughts
Reyna and Kianthe forever 🫶🏾
Alchemy and a Cup of Tea was the perfect final chapter. It was just as cozy and whimsical as the others, and the epilogue completely melted my heart. I’m so sad this series is over! 😭

Getting to spend time with all my favorite characters again felt like a warm hug. I love them so much.

This series will always be my comfort read. And I’ll keep recommending the audiobooks forever! Immersive reading truly makes the experience even better.

Huge thank you to NetGalley, Bramble and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen to this book early!

I am a huge fan of this series and absolutely loved this latest installment! Rebecca Thorne somehow makes action and adventure sequences cozy but in the best way possible. I found this story to be engaging and a well rounded conclusion to this series. There is continued character growth for all of our main characters, which I find impressive as this is the 4th book. Thorne has stunningly consistent writing that makes jump back into this world easy and as if I’m talking with a group of old friends. I hope we get more books within this world because I love it so much! I can’t wait to pick up my physical copy on release day!

This book was SO FREAKING GOOD. I am going to miss Reina and Kianthe so much. The plot. The romance. The coziness. It was all just *chef’s kiss*. I will read anything that Rebecca Thorne writes!

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea (Tomes & Tea, #4)
by Rebecca Thorne
The book can be read without reading the other books.
This book is a great resource for LTGBQ+ community. What an astounding modern D and D adventure. First of all the dynamic of the characters. Both main characters have a balance of heroic traits. They are strong women who have overcome great prejudice and problems. The conflict of their world is not over because they have the ability to over come drastic circumstances. The hints of historical events make the characters diversly broad and strong resilience.

A sapphic fantasy adventure - yes please!

Rebecca has created the most magical world full of diverse characters and personali-TEAS. ;) This is the fourth book in the series, and it does not disappoint. These books make me feel cozy and adventurous at the same time.

A married couple, from different backgrounds and abilities, continue to show courage and kindness to protect the realms, with the help of their friends. It has ups and downs, but never feels too scary. There’s such a quirky softness to both main characters.

I love the covers of these books, the artwork is perfect for the cozy fantasy vibe.

🎧 My brain consumed this book via my ears… so audiobook!

It was so well read. Different tones/voices for different characters and never feeling overdone. It was easy to follow along and kept up at a good pace. I settled into a speed of 1.5x for the majority of the book.

Note:
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ARC.
