Okay, this was exactly the warm, soft fantasy vibe I needed. Reyna just wants to have a peaceful cup of tea—and then boom, she’s kidnapped and caught up in alchemical nonsense (again). Honestly, relatable.

The plot goes a little bigger this time (dragons! political drama! way too many tourists in Tawney), but it still keeps that quiet, comforting tone I loved from the earlier books. Reyna and Kianthe are just… so good together. Like, no drama, just love and support and gentle banter. It’s queer, it’s cozy, it’s magical—what more could I want?

Some parts dragged a bit, and I kinda wish a few side characters got more time, but that’s a small gripe. Overall, it was a sweet and satisfying end to the series.

a great conclusion to a great series
I had such a good time reading/listening to this cozy fantasy series. Everything from the characters to the world building was absolutely top tier and I can't recommend these books enough

I would like to thank the publisher for sending me an audio-arc in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.

Reyna has now been crowned the Queen of Dragons and is officially queen of queendom, but her and Kianthe would still rather live their lives in Tawny running their cafe. When Reyna is kidnapped and Kianthe comes to her rescue, she discovers an alchemy circle within. Off to visit the mages in order to get some answers about the alchemy used in that circle, what starts as them just looking for answers turns into investigation as to what's happening to magic. The two of them will finally come face to face with the person behind everything that they've been dealing with, and then they'll have to face their challenges back home. Will they be able to survive and be together once and for all? Or will there always be something new keeping the two of them apart?

This book is the conclusion to the series and we finally get to see who the mastermind behind everything is and watch as Rayna and Kianthe go toe-to-toe with the true villain. I really like that they didn't go back to old habits and they were able to move forward with everything as a solid couple. There were a lot of returning characters here, and some new, but I do like that we get to see some of the other characters from previous books both helping with the final fight and, of course, in the epilogue. I feel like this book really had nothing to do with their tea shop except them deciding if they should keep it open or close it due to the amount of tourists coming to town to visit, and it kind of made me sad because I liked seeing them running their shop and staying within the town. But to be fair, I feel like at this point we haven't seen much of that since book one. But I'm glad that we get to see their happily ever after and that the two of them are settled in and enjoying their lives together. That epilogue really showed us how every decision the two of them made brought them to this point, and it was very sweet. I still don't know if I would classify these books as cozy just because the ending fight was very much high stakes, but it's definitely a lighter fantasy, which is how I feel about all the books in this series. I definitely enjoyed this and I'm happy that I was able to read this entire series. I would definitely recommend this to people who want a lighter fantasy with a dash of romance with a helping of dragons and a whole lot of magic, served with a cup of tea on the side.

A fabulous conclusion to a charming series! I love Reyna and Kianthe and the rest of the characters in their world! I loved every moment and did not want it to end.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea was the perfect wrap up to the Tomes and Tea series. After the cliffhanger ending of Tea You at the Altar I was worried coming into the book that this installment was just throwing bad events at my beloved characters to add another book. But not only was the narrative of this installment satisfying, it answered some bigger questions I had about the world of Tomes and Tea AND circled back to plot points from earlier books so everything was wrapped up in a nice big bow.

Narrator Jessica Threet has done a fantastic job with the series, and has to tackle some tricky side character accents that she handles with ease. Listening to the audiobook for this last installment enhanced the story for me.

Thanks Rebecca for giving Reyna, Kianthe and us readers the ending we all deserve.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is a fantastic conclusion to the series, offering even more of what we've have come to adore: beloved characters, dragons, and, of course, plenty of puns. This final instalment ties up lingering plot threads in a way that feels both satisfying and true to the heart of the story.

Picking up immediately after the previous book, the story jumps straight into the action. Without giving too much away for those who haven’t caught up, Reyna and Kianthe must once again join forces to solve one last mystery, one with potentially world-altering consequences if left unsolved.

Like the earlier books, this entry strikes a wonderful balance between cosy charm, exciting stakes, and witty humour. I’ve grown so attached to these characters and the found family they've built together. While it's bittersweet to say goodbye to this world, I’m incredibly grateful for the journey, and I can’t wait to see what Rebecca Thorne writes next.

I've read all of this series via audiobook and have found it a great way to read them. As with the others, the narrator did a great job and I had a fantastic time listening to the story being brought to life.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for this audio ARC to review.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea by Rebecca Thorne

What a delightful and heartfelt finale to this cozy fantasy series! Alchemy and a Cup of Tea wraps up Reyna and Kianthe’s journey with just the right blend of whimsy, love, and adventure—with plenty of magical mishaps, dragon rescues, and rogue alchemists to stir the pot.

Reyna and Kianthe remain one of my favorite sapphic fantasy couples. Their dynamic is warm, witty, and filled with a shared strength that shines even brighter as they navigate everything from unexpected kidnappings to the unruly chaos of… tourism. Yes, New Leaf is being overrun by enthusiastic fans of their tea-and-books empire, and the ripple effect on their sleepy hometown makes for an unexpected but deeply human conflict.

Side characters like the ever-dramatic Lord Wylan and the ever-practical Diarn Feo add so much texture and charm. The story may include ancient symbols and alchemical danger, but at its heart, it’s about love, community, and choosing what matters most—even if it means letting go of a dream.

The magic system continues to be soft and accessible, the humor is cozy without being saccharine, and the stakes, while lower than in many fantasies, feel just right for a story about protecting the quiet life you’ve built.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea comes out on August 12th.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the opportunity to review Alchemy and a Cup of Tea. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Rebecca does it again. Another lovely cozy little romantic fantasy. The narration was perfect. I’m honestly broken hearted over the series being over. But I am more than thrilled to add this to my completed series suggestions!

After going through a bit of a rough patch with the previous book in this series, I am glad to report that I liked this book better than the third one (although not as much as I liked the first one). I think I would have preferred to read this series with my eyes rather than on audio, as the narrator was not my favorite. I am happy with the way this series ended and that I saw it through to the end.

A delightful conclusion to this cozy-adjacent fantasy series! Reyna is adjusting to being an unwilling queen while Kianthe is forced to deal with issues in the magical world. All they want is to settle down in their bookstore/tea shop but everything seems to conspire against them. It's a nice story with an established relationship hitting external road bumps. And we finally discover what happened to those dragon eggs! This mystery has been ongoing since book 1. It's funny and cute with cozy moments, and a bit of action and intrigue as well. I think it will be a hit with fans of the series. The audio narration is pretty good, though (as I've said since the beginning) the choice of voices for the two main characters always kind of throws me. I received an audio review copy via Netgalley, all opinions are my own.

I love this series, especially looking at the magic system in this book and the light mysteries each book holds.

This author does an amazing job of switching between Reyna and Kianthe. I would definitely pick to listen to any book narrated by the voice actress.

Well, this one starts of with a bang! Reyna is kidnapped, embarrassingly, as she she has maintained that she is her own Queens' Guard, but whatever. Her wife will be along shortly, but in the meantime Reyna has charmed her way into the good graces of her kidnappers. When the mage of ages arrives, there's just a little clean up.
One crisis down, and yet so many more. Their sweet little haven, Tawney, is being over run by tourists, plots are underfoot and magic is being attacked... all in a day's work for our favorite couple.

While I don't know if this series can accurately be termed a cozy mystery, there really are some high stakes here, these books make me so happy. Reyna and Kianthe together are wonderful, working both for the betterment of their friends, and country, their friends are a delight and dragons!
Can't wait to see what they get up to next.

I was gifted an audiobook ARC of this book through Netgalley. I voluntarily read it and am leaving an honest review.

I love these characters so much and the narrator ALWAYS knocks it out of the park. I highly recommend reading this entire series via audiobook. This is such a comfort series and I am sure I will revisit it again in the future. Rebecca never fails to entertain me and grab my attention.

I am a huge fan of this series, so I was extra excited to be blessed once again with an audiobook ARC! I thought this 4th installment was a perfect end to this cozy fantasy. There was enough adventure to keep you interested in the story, but the reassurance that there will be a "happily ever after" for all our favs. We also love some healthy couple representation!! Give me more of this please!!

One note I had was that I'm personally not a fan of a time-jump epilogue. I thought the last chapter of this book wrapped everything up neatly, and we didn't necessarily need the epilogue at all. The bonus chapters helped finish storylines for characters that we didn't see as much in this book, but who featured heavily in others. (Those two aren't my fav, and I think they need a better couples counsellor than Reyna, but it was nice for them to get some closure). Justice for Pirate Dreggs... but does this leave the door open for a spin off??

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and Rebecca Thorne for the free audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review <3

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is the final story in the Tomes & Tea series about Reyna and her wife Kianthe.

I did have a hard time finishing this series only because the narrator doesn't seem to differentiate voices in characters. In my opinion, everyone sounds the same. I have loved this series, though, and wanted to finish it.

Reyna is kidnapped and placed in a booby-trapped prison cell with a mysterious alchemy circle. While Kianthe is attempting to rescue her wife, a slew of tourists has turned up in the Realm causing chaos.

How will they get out of this one? Who is behind the kidnapping?

A fun ending to a wonderful series.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for the ARC!

I can't believe it is over. OMG this series has a hold on me that will never be released.

This was such a perfect ending for everyone. From Kianthe and Reyna, to our pirate/lord couple, to our hopeless town leaders, our midwife/blackwife, the baby dragons, the baby gryphons, and just everyone. I cried so hard at certain parts, and laughed harder at others. I felt pure joy while reading this series, one that focuses not just on grand quests and tasks, but also small things such as paying for inventory, reading a book, and learning to communicate with your partner. Kianthe and Reyna are a couple that I could see parts of myself in, the anxiety and fear and love. I picked up this series because I love tea and books, thinking I was getting a cozy story that I would forget tomorrow. Instead, I got a story that will stay with me forever, and one I plan on revisiting soon.

Goodbye, Kianthe and Reyna, I can't wait to see y'all again.

As amazing as the first three books and Jessica Threet is the perfect narrator! The pacing was fantastic, main plot and subplots as engaging as ever, and just the right hints of spice :)

A charming blend of cozy fantasy and lighthearted adventure, Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is like curling up with your favorite warm drink—if your favorite drink also included dragons, mystery, and a bit of magical mayhem. Reyna and Kianthe are the perfect mix of heart and humor, and their latest challenge brings both action and unexpected depth.

I was thrilled to get a chance listen to this ARC of this great series. The story line was interesting especially starting off the bat with the new queen of the realm being kidnapped. I love when threads of information from earlier books get revealed to be a long term plot item. Plus we finally got to see where Kianthe grew up with all the mages and the stone of seeing.

The narration of this series is great with easy and distinct voices so that we know who’s point of view we are focused on between our two heroines and the myriad of friends that have found.

THis book had me laughing, smiling and crying throughout start to finish and in the end I know this is a series I will revisit over and over again.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is the final installment to the Tomes and Tea series by Rebecca Thorne. While this is the last book, it was my first to “read” (I did have the audiobook - thanks NetGalley) and while there were a few questions I had about previous storylines I didn’t feel like I was completely lost. I absolutely enjoyed this cozy fantasy novel and the main characters were so likable and relatable that I found myself wanting to become more immersed in this world. There were a few bits of the story that seemed rushed but overall it was good. The concept of the ‘queendom’ and how Reyna and Kianthe tried living like everyday average citizens who run their own tea shop is so real and created that extra layer of their characterization that I really connected with.
The series may be over but definitely keeps you wanting more from this author.
