All of the adventures Reyna and Kianthe have had throughout this series, finally comes to a head in Alchemy and a Cup of Tea. When Reyna is kidnapped by a group of bandits, Kianthe and Reyna discover an alchemy circle with mysterious symbols. The two must travel to the Magicary to discover why a group of alchemists would try to kidnap their newest queen. As they work to find information on the circle, Reyna and Kianthe soon realize they have other issues on their hands. Tourists have traveled to Tawney in hopes to see the famous couple and their friends are struggling to keep up with the influx of travelers. As frustrations rise, Kianthe and Reyna must decide if their time is up in Tawney and if they should close New Leaf and Tomes forever.

The Tomes & Tea series was my favorite series in 2024, and I am sad to see that Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is the final book in the series. Rebecca Thorne knows how to write the perfect cozy fantasy. From the characters to the world building, every aspect of these books made me fall in love with the series. Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is the perfect ending for Reyna and Kianthe. There were so many questions I had throughout this book, and I didn't want to put it down. My heart broke for Kianthe and Reyna as they try to come to terms with leaving Tawney and the family they had built there. I felt that the conclusion was the perfect ending for my two favorite characters, and I cried to see that the story I had fallen in love with had ended. Although I am sad to see this story end, I am excited to see what Rebecca Thorne will come up with next.

If you are a fan of cozy fantasies full of a variety of characters and fun adventures, I would highly recommend the Tomes and Tea series.

Alchemy and a Cup of Tea comes out on August 12th.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the opportunity to review Alchemy and a Cup of Tea. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One of my favorite from the series I think. There was a perfect mix of action and cozy vibes. I will admit the dragons did make me love this a lot. It's the same great characters and cute romance. Just a really sweet cozy read!

The audiobook was really good! I love the narrator for this series, both characters are easily distinguishable so you can tell who's POV you're following.

I appreciate that this series is cozy but still has some stakes to keep the plot interesting. That being said, it's the characters (especially the griffins) that keep me reading! Reyna and Kianthe have such a fun dynamic...or should I say, pun dynamic?

In this installment, they must grapple with the fact that even though they opened their tea and bookshop to run away from their problems, they can't escape them forever, especially as queen and arcandor. As their town is overrun with tourists hoping to get a glimpse of them, they must decide how to save the quaint village they love and deal with some troublesome alchemists.

I really enjoy Jessica Threet's narration and feel like it adds a lot to the story. Definitely pick it up as an audiobook!

A Cozy Fantasy Delight with Heart, Humor, and a Hint of Chaos

This book is everything cozy fantasy should be: warm, witty, and full of heart—even when the plot kicks off with a surprise kidnapping and a booby-trapped prison cell. Reyna and Kianthe are an absolute joy, their banter sparkling with affection and dry humor. The narrative balances danger and domesticity with an effortless charm that makes even the tense moments feel like a warm cup of tea by the fire.

The world of Tawney is richly drawn and delightfully lived-in, from the magic-infused mysteries to the deeply relatable problem of over-tourism. The bookshop setting, New Leaf Tomes and Tea, is the beating heart of the story, and the decision looming over Reyna and Kianthe—whether to save their town by closing their beloved shop—hits surprisingly hard amid the whimsy.

If there's any critique to offer, it's that the stakes remain comfortably low throughout. Even the more dramatic turns feel softened by the story’s overall coziness. But that’s also part of its charm. This is a book about love, community, and the chaos of trying to balance both while rogue alchemists and nosy tourists get in the way.

Excellent, cozy, and quietly profound, this is perfect for anyone looking to be swept away by magic, romance, and a little bit of tea-fueled trouble.

I have LOVED getting to read/listen to this cozy fantasy series and this ending was fantastic. Lovers of Legends and Lattes will enjoy this whole series and this conclusion is no exception. So cozy, heartwarming, funny, and lovely.

Always fun when your friend starts you on a series out of your wheelhouse and you end the series before them. "Alchemy and a Cup of Tea" by Rebecca Thorne brings the Tomes and Tea series to a close on 12 August 2025.

Being kidnapped when you used to be a guard who prevents kidnappings is a tad embarrassing. Thankfully Reyna is bad at being a prisoner. Unfortunately the whole thing seems to have been a ruse of some kind using alchemy circles. This has been a constant issue in all of Kianthe and her endeavors to just enjoy their bookshop. Which is now plagued by tourists. Things just can't be simple, can they?

Narrated by Jessica Threet, going to miss your voice reading this wild cast.

Reasons to read:
-Wrapped up the through line really well
-Cursed responsibility being given to competent people
-Food
-Telling off old supervisors
-Pushing work onto those that deserve it

Cons:
-OK that person deserved a stab but they got away

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this advanced copy! You can pick up Alchemy and a Cup of Tea on August 12, 2025.

I just love this series so, so much. Rebecca Thorne has perfected the balance of cozy, sweet, magical, action-packed, romantic books, and this (in my opinion) is her best to date. It felt like we returned to the roots of the original Can't Spell Treason Without Tea but with higher stakes and a deeper emotional connection between Kianthe and Reyna.

I loved seeing into Kianthe's past at the magicary, and how excited (yet nervous) she was to show Reyna around. The tourist problem in Tawney actually had me sweating?? Because I'd have no idea how to solve it and would also resort to closing up my shop, but the way the townsfolk rallied around Kianthe and Reyna reminded me why I fall in love with this charming small town too.

The dragon and alchemy storyline had me HOOKED. I was genuinely concerned for Blue Spruce, and I loved the mystery aspect of who the rogue alchemist was. It felt like we expanded the world and magic system without leaving Tawney behind.

The ending had me in literal tears, and I just love the idea of Kianthe and Reyna continuing to go on adventures for the rest of their lives before returning home to New Leaf.

This series needs to be on everyone's cozy fantasy list rn!! Don't wait to pick it up, especially now that it will be completed!

The final book of this cozy quartet holds up to the romantic magical fantasy adventure mode that was set in the prior three books. We are treated to an entire array of dilemmas, settings, and magical creatures packing the book with gryphons, dragons, royalty, bumbling kidnapers, adorable touristy towns, schools of magic, mages, and alchemists. Never a dull moment and not much time to enjoy a cozy book with a cup of tea for the cute main character couple of Reyna and Kianthe. If they ever get that dull moment, though, Alchemy and a Cup of Tea is just that perfect comfort-read to curl up with. But then, now that we have reached the end of their tales, and a fitting end it was, they may find they are able to carve out some time to enjoy their books. The extra snippet featuring Serina and Bobbie at the end was a delightful bonus and dare I hope for a spin-off?
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and thought the narrator, Jessica Threet, did an amazing job of giving distinct voice to both Reyna and Kianthe.
I received the ALC thru NetGalley (for which I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher, Macmillan Audio) for an honest review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

Thanks to NetGalley for the Audio ARC!

Jessica Threet is perfection as Key and Rain - amazing job as always!!!

Rebecca Thorne does it again with another amazing and cozy addition to Key and Rain's story! The action was packed and the tea was hot, but I still left feeling like I had received a warm hug....and maybe a good cry because I can't believe it's over.

I seriously can't say enough about how much I love these characters and the unique and fun adventures they end up going on. This series has it all - pirates, romance, dragons, griffons, magic, alchemy, royals, espionage, swordplay, near-death experiences, tea, BOOKS!....it's the perfect combination of all things fantasy and escapism.

If you're a fan of fantasy, especially cozy fantasy, pick up this series now. It's worth the time!!

4.5 rounded up. I'm so sad to see this series end, but what an action packed way to finish! I flew through the audiobook in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down. This book expanded the world and magic system while both opening and wrapping up new and already explored story lines.

I could see the epilogue being divisive for readers, with some loving it and others finding it unsatisfying. I fall a little more towards the unsatisfying, but I think that's my personal taste.

I appreciated the extra scene with Bobby and Serena. It was cute and wrapped up their part of the story well. Still waiting for a future Feo and Wylan novella (one can dream!)
