This is an interesting and edifying book. It is full of ancient wisdom that is still relevant and helpful today. It is VERY long, so don't feel like you need to read it straight through; you can pick and choose self-contained chapters to read. Overall, it's a great resource.
However, it wasn't a five-star read for me. The organization and focus could have been stronger. It was lighter on social science than I expected. Some of the commentary was a bit of a reach and less supported by evidence, for example, Gerson was espousing his political beliefs on trigger warnings and DEI without connecting them back to the Torah.
It was still an interesting read, and I learned some new-to-me interpretations of familiar passages. Even though I recommend taking some of Gerson's interpretation with a grain of salt, this book has wisdom to offer to people of any Abrahamic religion - or even people of no particular faith who just want to have a healthier and happier life.
