If I thought book one was amazing this exceeded my expectations. I am really happy that we got introduced to more characters and that there was a lot of character growth through out this book. Can’t wait for it to be published so I can buy ut

If I could rate this book as ♾️ stars I would! First of all Olivia how could you?! Second this book will make this series become one where people compare new books to when they are released (like ACOTAR and Fourth Wing). This was top tier romantasy at its finest.

The love Cayden has for Elowen is like no other. He is in my top 3 book boyfriends of all time! Also his chapters were so brilliant and I love that we got a look into his backstory.

The drama! The action! The banter! The emotions! The way Olivia describes everything in detail is perfection.

My heart broke at the end of this book. Utterly broken. I don’t know how or when it’ll be fixed. I literally cannot wait until the third book.

*ARC REVIEW* well, what am I supposed to do with myself now? I may as well induce my own coma until the next book comes because the cliffhanger?!?! I’m empty inside now, yet simultaneously so full of the emotion and love poured into and out of this story. Absolutely adored all the new characters and can already start to see some foreshadowing when it comes to the inner circle. Cayden evolving, finding new ways to torture our girl El (below deck hehe), and then truly embodying what all have referred to him as the demon. Tethered souls will always find each other…..I hope. 😩

The story of an exiled princess and her dragons continues in this exciting sequel to Fear the Flames. Cayden Veles and Elowen Atarah build their kingdom together, forging alliances and fighting fierce battles.

I have found another case where I absolutely love the sequel more so than the first book. What an exciting ride this book was, from start to finish. Cayden’s point of view was as enjoyable as Elowen’s, I loved getting to see more of his thoughts and feelings. He has definitely become one of my favorite male leads after this.

I am so happy we got to see and learn more about the dragons I was so eager for more of in the first book. I have no words for how much I adore them and their bond to Elowen.

I am very intrigued by what the surprising end to this book will bring in the next. It was definitely unexpected, but I can’t wait to see where it takes the story.

I hope more people will pick this series up and enjoy this sequel as much as I did! How can you not love a swoony, ‘destroy the world for her’ romance filled with dragons, war, fun banter and more!

Thank you NetGalley, Ballantine and Delacorte Press for the chance to read this incredible sequel.

Wrath of the Dragons is an epic, breathtaking adventure from start to finish! Olivia Rose Darling has crafted a world so vivid and fierce that I felt like I was flying alongside the dragons themselves. The story is packed with heart-pounding action, rich lore, and characters who feel incredibly real — brave, broken, and beautifully human. The emotional stakes were high, the twists kept me on the edge of my seat, and the writing was absolutely stunning. If you love powerful storytelling with dragons, destiny, and a dash of heartbreak, this is the book you need in your life.

*thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Wrath of the Dragons is an epic continuation of the Fear the Flames saga, where the stakes are raised, and the passion between hero and heroine keeps you hooked from the first page. The political intrigue is intense, but what really shines is the dynamic between these two. Elowen, now wielding power of her own, has to navigate the delicate balance of trust and love with Cayden. It’s this complex relationship that fuels the book, with each twist and turn leaving you breathless. The action is as fierce as the emotions, and there’s an underlying tension between main characters, it’s impossible to ignore. I’m desperate for the next instalment already.

First - thank you to NetGalley and Dell Romance for the ARC! Wrath of the Dragons was one of my most anticipated 2025 reads, so receiving that email came with shock and elation.

Personally, this book started out slower for me than Fear the Flames. I didn’t feel like I was truly hooked until about 50% in. I’m not sure if it’s because it felt more political trying to understand all the other kingdoms and houses and royalty? But once we reached a certain point that I will not spoil (😉) I was all in. At that point I actually procrastinated finishing it because I wasn’t ready to leave Elowen and Cayden & co. The last 10% of the book had tears streaming down my face, and I absolutely did not anticipate the ending. I am already spiraling over how book 3 will go.

The dual POV was *everything.* Obsessed with their dynamic, always. The lost princess out for vengeance, the warrior who would burn the world down by her side, and five vibrant dragon personalities - oh, and found family. It really is the perfect fantasy formula. The rageful feminism that is woven into the heart and soul of this book (and Fear the Flames) is everything to me. Olivia, if you have no fans it means I’m deceased 🫶

I enjoyed Fear the Flames, but Wrath of the Dragons was next level!

Having overthrown the king of Vareveth, Cayden and Elowen are forced into a sort of marriage of convenience, and have to find their way back to each other emotionally. Meanwhile, the mission to exact revenge on the king of Imirath continues. The journey takes us through an expanding high fantasy world, full of new places and people whose names can be difficult to keep track of at times.

What to expect:
- Dual POV. Prepare to fall hard for Cayden. If you thought you loved the broody warrior before, no you didn’t.
- Even more found family goodness. Plus the dragon bonds.
- Magic, politics & war.
- Major burn-the-world-for-her vibes.
- An unexpected ending. With only a few chapters left, I was wondering how this story could possibly continue… And I was not disappointed.

I kicked my feet. I cried. My jaw hit the floor. Sign me up for book 3; I’m so ready!

Thanks to NetGalley & Ballantine | Delacorte Press for access to the ARC!

Oh my GOD, where do I even begin?! This book was phenomenal. Everything I could ever want in a romantasy series. I don't know how to properly describe the way Olivia Rose Darling's writing and storytelling makes me feel. I become so enveloped in her books and the way she writes a love story. The emotional impact this book, in particular, had on me will forever stay with me.

I can tell that she put her whole heart and soul into this. From expanding immensely on details for the world-building and lore about Ravaryn's kingdoms, to going more in-depth with the magic system, introducing new and exciting characters that I quickly came to love, and furthering the backstories of the main characters (ESPECIALLY Cayden). I couldn't put this down at all, yet I never wanted it to end. ❤️‍🩹

Elowen and Cayden... I can't even accurately describe my love for their story. A soft, dragon queen that loves to read, bake, and dress in pretty gowns but will stab anyone who dares take what's rightfully hers and who she cares about. She overcame so much in a world of cruelty while holding on to the softer side of her heart. Then a commander, a warrior, with a heart made of steel that softens only for her. Having Cayden's POV in this book means readers get to see a whole different side of him -- a vulnerable, broken side. Getting to know more of his backstory, his ambitions, his scars and trauma, it furthered the story SO much. Seeing how unquestionably devoted he was to Elowen, willing to do ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, for her... it's the kind of earth-shattering love we all want.

"𝙄 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚, 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩." 💘

The side characters growing into their own and their unwavering loyalty to Elowen and Cayden is what makes their found family so special. I love every single one of them and the bonds they created with one another. They'd go to extreme lengths to ensure that one another is safe and unharmed. I loved the action scenes of this book, but the small intimate scenes with all characters were everything. The dragons were SO fun to read about, and I loved getting to know more about their individual personalities and the bond they share with Elowen.

The breadcrumbs throughout were perfect, leaving little hints for the reader yet remaining a mystery until the end. As you near the end you begin to have this sense of dread, yet the ending still takes you by surprise. I had a small feeling I knew where the direction of the book was going to end, and I love/hate that I was right, but it's going to make book 3 have immeasurably high stakes that I can't wait to read.

Again, it's hard to really emphasize just how much of an emotional impact this had on me. I am going to be internally sobbing everyday with that ending and eagerly awaiting the next installment. I cannot recommend this series enough, you just gotta read it to understand 😭

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of Wraith of Dragons!

I was so excited for this one — I absolutely devoured book one and couldn’t wait to dive back into this world. Unfortunately, Wraith of Dragons didn’t quite live up to the high bar set by its predecessor for me.

While I still love the characters and the overall story arc, this sequel leaned heavily into battle logistics and strategy, which just isn't my thing. I found myself skimming through a lot of those scenes, hoping to get back to the emotional and romantic core that hooked me in book one.

The romance, which felt electric and central before, really took a backseat here — and I missed it. I wanted more of that connection, more tension, more them. There were definitely moments I enjoyed, but overall, it just didn’t have the same magic.

Still, I’m hopeful for what’s next and rooting for this series to bring the heat back.

I would first like to thank NetGalley for approving my request for an ARC of this book! Now, onto the review...

If you thought Fear the Flames was good, this book catapults you even further. We get deeper into the world of Ravaryn, learning more about the different islands, areas, cults, gods and magic.

The best part about this book, hands down, was every Cayden chapter. As you could have suspected from Fear the Flames, his head is a deep, dark place, but boy does he have it down for our girl Elowen. Dual POV can be tricky to navigate in certain books, and often times the MMC can feel flat despite it. not in this case. Cayden's journey through this book was one of the best I've read in a while.

Elowen as a woman really comes into her own in the sequel, too. You can really feel her love she has for her friends, found family, and dragons. Her journey to re-discover herself after the events of Fear the Flames is extremely relatable, without being too cliche.

There were many times during the story where I would stop myself from reading because I didn't want the story to be over. Of course, I still picked it up because I wanted to know what was coming next. The ending, of course, leaves us on a cliff so we can fall into the next book, but overall I still found this book to feel complete, with some of the other plotlines wrapping up nicely or leaving appropriate open endings to be further explored.

I found myself having to go back and re-read some passages because it was difficult to tell who was saying what in terms of the dialogue, especially when there were gatherings involving several characters. Also, some of the world-building information was a bit jarring. It felt like it was added to some parts for the sake of adding it, when later the information was restated with more purpose/impact on the characters or scene.

Overall, if you loved Fear the Flames, you'll love this sequel even more. This was an amazing read and actually brought me to tears (which is actually difficult to do). I will absolutely continue the series.

My soul has been destroyed, I’ll be sending my therapy bills to Liv.

Where do I even begin? First of all, Elowen is the FMC I grew up dreaming about. From a very young age I have loved beautiful things, clothes, jewelry, hair…I have expensive taste. I rarely dress up these day but I’m that girl who actually LOVES to dress up and get pretty. If I could also wield knives and slay my enemies while keeping my hair perfectly coiffed I would do it. Basically Elowen is my spirit sister. The world is the fantasy world every Disney watching girl dreamed about with castles and beautiful land, and DRAGONS!

Cayden…..myyy maaaan is just drool worthy! I had to go stand in the freezer a couple times. Iykyk. He is so damaged and broody, I just want to make him food and make him believe he deserves good things. I LOVED getting his POV, we really got a deeper glimpse into his soul.

The found family. 🥹 I love them. Their banter, their devotion to each other. It’s so good.

The plot is…..blown wide open. I have so many theories floating around in my head and I don’t think the group chat with my girlies will stop anytime soon. Liv, dear…we can add you right? That cool? K thanks.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the arc!!

This was so good I couldn't believe it. I love Olivia's writing because her writing gives women and victims the revenge and story they want. She allows the FMC to take a violent revenge, she doesn't make her characters weak and cover in a corner. LOVE IT!

“They wanted war, give them hell.” Cayden whispers before kissing the top of my head.’

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to encapsulate the way that reading Liv’s words make me feel. And that’s the first thing I want to say. Her writing and the way she speaks so eloquently and beautifully about such raw and real experiences never fail to amaze me. I highlighted more in this book than any other. Just wow.

The way that Liv expanded the world, lore, and magic system in this book was phenomenal. It was all intricately woven into the plot in a way that was so well done. The politics, the secret language, and new characters all fell into place so perfectly, I ate up every bit of it and cannot wait to get back into this world in the third book 😭 I loved visiting the new places in this book, the adventure aspect of it was honestly one of my favorite parts. I could read TOMES about these characters going on more journeys to new worlds.

Having Cayden’s POV in this book elevated the story and his and Elowen’s relationship SO much, I adore that man with every fiber of my being. There is truly, I MEAN TRULY…… NOTHING that Cayden wouldn’t do for Elowen, and that kind of relentless and earth shattering love is such a beautiful thing to read. I was infatuated the entire time. Cayden and Elowen’s growth together working through the events that occurred in the last book and how that affected their relationship was so refreshing and was handled so maturely. Their relationship will forever be the standard, and there will never be any dethroning Cayden as book boyfriend, sorry, book HUSBAND #1.

The pacing in this book was flawless, and while there was SO MUCH ACTION and I LIVED FOR IT, the smaller intimate scenes between the characters carried the story just as much. UGH. I could go on forever. I already want to reread it 😭 I have a few books that I call my “soul books”, but Wrath of the Dragons has solidified the Fear the Flames series as my first and only “soul series” ✨🐉

Yearning, tension, romance, protective MMC! I love Cayden so much!! I was hesitant to read this one after both particularly enjoying book 1 but Cayden and the side characters really built book 2 up and made me feel more connected and invested. Add dragons to anything and I'll read it but this was such a beautifully written book. The fantasy aspects are fun and keep you entertained and engaged as well!

This was so beyond good that I cannot stop thinking about it. One of my very top reads of the year. The world gets expanded so much and we get to see way more of the map and also dive way deeper into the lore. The political maneuvering was written so well and had me always questioning who to trust. Absolutely loved the action this book and I was on the edge of my seat during many battles. Elowen, is an incredibly relatable FMC and as in Fear The Flames I adore that she can be strong and also vulnerable and soft. Basically everything that makes a romantasy great it had and then some.

Now we have to talk about Cayden and the romance. This man has been elevated to my top book friends list and then some. The yearning, the absolute dedication, the lines.

I don’t want to say a single thing about the ending but just know you will be dying for book 3!

MISS OLIVIAAAA

THAT ENDING??? HOW DAAAAARE YOU.

Oooof. I am not well after finishing Wrath of the Dragons. I loved Fear the Flames so much, and was SHOCKED I was able to read the arc for this one.

This book was soooo so good. I loved the dual pov (CAYDEN!!!!), the battles, the DRAGONS, the romance. It was so good. I need book 3 now.

This books was amazing! I absolutely loved the first book in this series. The world is perfect and the found family in this book was great. I highly recommend this book!

I didn’t ~love~ the first book in this series, but I thought that this one redeemed this series for me.

The world building and character development that we get in this book really strengthen what we got in the first book.

I lovedddd Cayden’s POV. Honestly, he might be the reason I liked this book. The angst, the yearning, the desire to do anything to protect his woman. Love.

We get action in this book immediately. We just jump right into it so there isn’t waiting around for the story to get going. The pacing was pretty consistent in terms of action throughout the whole book.

The POV jumps back and forth between Cayden and Elowen, and I love that we are able to hear both of their thoughts. It isn’t very repetitive in terms of POV either (there aren’t repeated scenes).

Super glad I decided to continue this series instead of leaving it at the first book.

Thank you so much to Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own and are in no way influenced by the manner in which I received this book.

Phenomenal. The found family in this book is what dreams are made of. For this second book, I expected war and action but I got so much more. Cayden as an MMC might be one of my favorites. The bond with the dragons and connection to magic jumped up a lot in this book. I can’t wait to see where this series goes
