This book was A LOT of world building. I struggled most of my way through it trying to remember the countries, alliances, and all the characters.
Cayden Veles… the definition of the perfect book boyfriend. I’m obsessed with Cayden & Elowen. That being said, the ending… NOT okay. I will be eagerly awaiting book three.
I should also mention that I cried literal tears, which has only happened for a handful of books.
Thank you Net Galley & Ballantine for the ARC!

Wrath of Dragons had me clutching my imaginary pearls and whispering "sir??" at Cayden more than once. This book is chaotic and utterly addictive. Elowen is a powerhouse of a heroine and the emotional growth in this one hit hard in the best way.
The world is rich, the tension is tensioning, and the spice? It’s there. Things slowed down for a stretch around the halfway mark, but once it ramped back up I was locked in. The ending made me blink at my Kindle like… wait WHAT.
If you're into morally gray men, dragons with agendas, and stories that leave you making conspiracy boards in your head, this one's for you.

I really wanted to love this book since I LOVED Fear The Flames so much. But it took over 50% of the book for things to pick up. I loved the wedding ceremony between Elowen and Cayden and how poetic the author described Cayden’s love for Elowen. I also loved the development of Elowen’s relationship with her dragons I just wish there was more about the dragons in the book!

I need a Cayden Veles in my life ASAP. I loved Fear the Flames and was so excited to be offered a chance to read an ARC of Wrath of the Dragons. Cayden overthrew the throne and he's now king. Elowen has her dragons and they need to go around Ravaryn to build alliances to go up against Elowen's father. I feel like this book had some really great battle scenes and Cayden was just so swoon worthy. Can't wait for the next one.

The sequel to Fear the Flames did not disappoint! It has all the elements I grew to love in the first book: morally gray MMC, heated romance, a fierce FMC, and dragons, of course. The book felt like Olivia Rose Darling took all the notes about her first book and built a solid and great second book. The world-building was much more detailed in this book, with our adventurers exploring new places. The lore grew throughout the book which helped to flesh out the nod to the Gods the first book made. The romance, as always, was romancing very well.
This book had a bit of what I call second-book syndrome. Although overall, I thought it was great, it was still clearly a bridge book to the next book in the series. A few parts in the middle felt a tad slow to me but the ending picked up. Without spoiling anything all I will say is: THE ENDING. Needless to say, I am hooked and will anxiously be awaiting the next installment of this series.
Thanks to NetGalley, Ballantine, and Olivia Rose Darling for access to this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was perfect for an adult newer to Romantasy. Cayden Veles, the MMC was a strong, dark, warrior type who treated Elowen, the fmc with nothing but devotion, love and loyalty. While the politics were a good portion of the book- the banter between the characters and the romance between the main characters stole the show for me. The dragons were interesting and fun. Was this my favorite- no. Was it fun for someone new to the genre- yes.
Thank you so much for the eARC!

Whoa! That ending though! Dang! NOT what I expected AT all. Goodness, give me 2-3 business days to recover. This story was full of building of the world and the characters. After Fear the Flames we needed this to learn more about who Elowen and Cayden really were. El struggled after what happened at the end of book 1 and seeing it be worked through was difficult at times but it came together so beautifully at the end. Cayden had his demons he was working through as well that came from his past. I really enjoyed learning more about him as well as El. The found family aspect was also fantastic. Of course the DRAGONS were even better! I loved seeing their personalities and how El worked with them. If you are looking for political intrigue, found family, dual POV, my wife sayings, touch her and die, dragons, more magic, gods, and world building then the one is definitely it.
Thank you Ballantine for this amazing opportunity to read this book!

I love this book! Yes it remind me of GOT but has everything that's was missing! Love the world, the characters, the magic, the dragons! I love it all! To not give any spoiler I love all the tropes and element that's are Incorporated in this book! I loved we got more of the dragon, magic, we learned more about the gods and I love Elowen and Cayden! The banter in this book and Cayden one liner chef kiss!
I hate cliff hangers but I am so fricken excited for how this series is going to pan out!

Wrath of the Dragons is unputdownable. This book is the embodiment of what a sequel in a series should be: action-packed, filled with world-building and character development, and vivid and witty descriptions. I could talk forever about how beautifully written this novel is. Elowen and Cayden’s growth in this book is unmatched and I am already so excited for book 3! I truly cannot recommend Fear the Flames or Wrath of the Dragons enough! Will be posting a review on bookstagram asap!

Wrath of the Dragons was such a treat with the addition of the MMC Cayden Veles' point of view. He yearned for Elowen while giving her space and time to come to terms with his actions at the end of Fear the Flames. I liked how even though there is conflict at first between them, there is zero miscommunication which I really appreciated. We spend more time with the bonded dragons, court politics and maneuvering, and the found family side characters. Cayden and Elowen work to secure alliances, plan battles, and establish their next moves. Towards the end of the book, I definitely got a sense of foreboding for what was to come next. This book was heavy at times, but there were moments of humor, prowess, and romance. Thank you to Ballantine|Delacorte Press and NetGalley for the e-ARC. The thoughts and opinions above are my own.

I thought this was a good follow up to the previous book. While I am not the biggest fan of the writing style, and I thought that it was a bit too slow for my liking, overall it was a good read.

In all honesty there were some slow moments but the details and all the intricate pieces of the characters we get to see make that worth it. I really loved the development and the building on the world and the action was crazy then the ending ripped out my heart and stomped on it.

Thank you to Random House, Delacorte Press, and Olivia Rose Darling for the eARC.
I loved this book! It definitely has some different vibes from Fear the Flames. There's more at stake. There's war brewing. Elowen is one of my favorite stabby FMCs. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty, and she will never stay on the sidelines. What I loved about Wrath of the Dragons is that we got to see Cayden's POV, and it was everything I knew I wanted and then some.
After Fear the Flames, there's a lot of uncertainty with these characters. Getting to see inside both of their heads was such a treat. And the absolute YEARNING from Cayden was exactly what I wanted.
There are a handful of battle scenes in this book, and I was so impressed by them! They created this incredible movie in my head, and I was probably as in awe of Elowen and her dragons as Cayden was.
I wasn't always sure what was around the next corner in this book, and I loved that! By the end, my jaw was on the floor, and I am ready for more. I love the turns we took, and I can't wait to see how this series progresses. I would definitely recommend the series to all romantasy enjoyers.

I adored Fear the Flames and have been eagerly anticipating this follow up! I will honestly say that this book was even better than the first, which is something I rarely say about the second book in a series. The only rough part about this book is the ending, meaning now we have to wait for the next book!! Can't wait! Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this novel!

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. If starts right where book 1 ends and moves kind of slow for the first 200 pages. There was a lot of world building that set up for the last 300 pages, and gah those last 100 pages were action packed with everything you could hope for in this world. The cliff hanger ending ripped my heart out and I was crying in front of my family. Book 3 is going to be a must read asap!

Wrath of the Dragons has been one of my most long-awaited tbr reads ever since reading the indie version of Fear the Flames and honestly, Wrath of the Dragons did not disappoint!
Liv started this book exactly where Fear the Flames finished off and had me hooked throughout the whole book. I could not predict what was going to happen within each chapter. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster throughout this whole book!!! All I can say is that the ending DESTROYED me. I refuse to accept that type of ending and need the next book immediately!
CAYDEN VELES!!! He deserves to be in everyone's top 10 favourite book boyfriends. He is so fiercely powerful and feared in the kingdoms but when around Elowen is a golden retriever who will do anything for her! I loved the dual POV chapters, really allowing me to understand Cayden better and hear in his words his love for Elowen and all he'll do for her was exceptionally written. The yearing between the two, along with the banter by both and their friends, made this book everything!
Book 3 cannot come soon enough!
Thank you Ballantine | Delacorte Press and Netgalley for the early arc copy!

Someone check on me because WHAT did I just read?!
This book took me on a wild, emotional roller coaster and then LAUNCHED ME OFF THE TRACKS. I was not prepared. The drama, the intensity, the chaos… it had me flipping metaphorically flipping pages like my life depended on it. And just when I thought I knew where things were going? BAM. Plot twist.
I’m still reeling from that ending. No. You cannot just end it like THAT. I refuse to accept it. I need answers. I need closure. I need the next book, like, yesterday.
This book is a full-body experience. 10/10. Chef’s kiss. Would scream about it in a bookstore. Highly recommend if you love dragons, danger, and yelling “WHAT IS HAPPENING” every other chapter.
Thank you sooooooo sooooo much for this early copy!

✨Wrath of Dragons✨
Ughhh, you broke me, Liv! This sequel to Fear the Flames was such an utter DELIGHT to my senses. I experienced it all and LIVE for Cayden Veles.
We begin right where we left off after book one and dive straight into the feelings! I love how Liv makes us feel all the things from an FMC who is full of feminine rage yet compassionate and kind as well as an MMC who thinks he is too dark to be loved that is the most protective, adoring, dedicated, and fierce partner there is. We get to learn so much more about Cayden, the dragons, and our found family. The romance is INCREDIBLE and our MMC is relentless in the best way.
Political and court intrigue, prophecies new and old, betrayals, dragon riding, newfound powers, and a love that spans worlds are what you’ll find in these pages. I wasn’t sure we could top book one’s quotes, but Liv is a MASTER with her writing and love declarations. This is surely one of my favorite reads of the year so far.
Tropes you may find in WOTD are soul bonds, dragons and dragon riding, slow burn to medium spice, elemental and celestial magic, prophecies, feminine rage, 🔥 the world for him/her, matching tattoos, touch him/her and ☠️, dual POV, “my wife”, yearning, marriage of convenience, foreign language nickname, and a cliffhanger that had me on the edge of my seat with tears. So. Stinking. Good.
It’s such a pleasure to be an arc reader for Liv again. Thank you so much to Liv, Random House, and Netgalley for this gifted arc.

Wrath of the Dragons was my most anticipated read of this year. Cayden and Elowen did not disappoint. The beginning of the book felt a tad bit long, and although I love a yearning MMC I was eager to see what was going to come out of where we left off in Fear the Flames.
The end of the book picked up a lot. Olivia had a wonderful way with words on such heavy topics, several times I paused and re-read how she worded certain feelings or thoughts that the characters had. But beyond that, was the background characters and banter that I devoured. Their relationships, the complexities of their titles, and their past traumas all played into how they bonded and supported each other.
The ending was wow, I am now eagerly awaiting the next book.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC!

Wrath of the Dragons picks up where Fear the Flames left off, only now, the stakes are even higher! Cayden Veles, the infamous Demon Commander, has just overthrown a throne to save Elowen Atarah, the woman he’s been searching for since childhood. But his rescue comes with a political marriage. Elowen finally has what she’s always dreamed of: her dragons, her power, her birthright. She’s torn between her right to claim the Imirath throne and the complicated feelings she has for Cayden. War is brewing and alliances are shifting across the fractured kingdoms of Ravaryn, and Cayden and Elowen - along with their friends - have to navigate betrayal, diplomacy, and bloody conflict. With a final battle looming and revenge on their minds, the group must learn to trust each other, to use the magic at their disposal, and trust their fates to the gods that they may or may not believe in.
This jumps right into the action and I love it! We get Cayden's POV in this book, which gives a lot of insight into the way he views himself and the people he surrounds himself with. Elowen and Cayden have been so wronged by the people who were supposed to love them, and they understandably find it difficult to admit their feelings toward each other, choosing instead to hold back. I loved the contrast in Elowen's personality - fierce, a fighter, but also loves pastries, flowers, flowy gowns and romance books. And Cayden sure loves to show his affection through gifts! I also like learning more about the gods and dragons in this book, and I get the sense that there's a lot more to discover where both are concerned! The found family theme is my absolute favorite in this book, and the friendships and banter lighten the mood. The ending will have you reeling! Romantasy lovers - time to check out this series!
