Name a man more obsessed with his wife YOU CAN’T because Cayden Veles takes the cake and I LOVE HIM and getting his POV for this book was everything!
Elowen is such a gem of a FMC and I will protect her and her bb dragons at all costs!! The found family in a series is always a beautiful thing and that’s written so well here! Loved, loved, loved this book!!

I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinions are my own.

Enthralling and emotionally devastating, Wrath of the Dragons is phenomenal!

The dragon queen and the demon commander have joined forces and seized the throne in Vareveth and now have their sights firmly set on Imirath, war, and retribution. War is coming and alliances will be made but who will be left standing?

Wrath of the dragons is action packed with bloody battles, impressive magics, and political schemes at every turn. The plot is thick with strategic maneuvering, world expansion, new allies/enemies, character growth and is paired with a dual POV throughout. This explosive sequel to Fear the Flames will leave you ruined on the edge of a cliff, hanging on for dear life, begging for the next book.

thank you so much for the ARC! i was honored to receive it.

there were some exciting moments and lots of fun banter and humor in this book, but i’m sad i didn’t like this more. i have been SO excited for this sequel because i loved fear the flames, but i found it hard to get into until i was over halfway through the book so it took me forever to read it all. the pacing felt weird and it was a bit repetitive.

i really do love cayden and many of the side characters here so i had so much fun being back with them, and i really enjoyed the humor and lighter moments. the last 20% was very action packed and exciting too! the ending was very unexpected and took a pretty crazy turn, so i am still pumped to see how that will play out in the next book.

i was surprised and a little disappointed about how little the dragons were actually a part of the plot other than as battle weapons and how little i feel we still know about them and their personalities and their differences etc. i thought they’d feel more like characters but they’re kinda more like pets. also i kept getting zale and zarius confused? this is a mixture of random thoughts but i think my overall feeling is that this was just okay. definitely not bad but not my fav.

Firstly, I want to thank Netgalley, along with Olivia Rose Darling and Ballantine | Delacorte Press. It was truly an honor to receive an arc, one I don’t take for granted in the slightest. I cannot WAIT to hold my physical edition of Wrath of the Dragons in my hands.

Now, for the review. I’ll put a spoiler warning, though I’ll post no spoilers.

Truthfully, I can’t really gather all my thoughts as I’m reeling from the ending. I simply cannot think. My chest hurts. I’ll try my best to say everything I want to.

For starters, I loved getting to see the characters grow further into themselves, loved seeing their bonds strengthen beyond what they were already. I absolutely loved meeting new characters, learning of their personalities and stories. I loved reading of new scenery; I loved the characters experiencing new things, stuff that they never thought they would. I loved it all.

Truthfully, I was worried towards the 75% mark. If they kill Elowen’s father her revenge is over, how will the series continue on? What else will cross her path so that she’s forced to wield more fury with her dragons? How can you continue when a driving plot is no longer an issue? That was my main thought.

I got my answer. :) and wtf. (That’s all I’m saying in regards to that.)

Elowen. The beginning of the book, her thoughts, her worries, her fears. All of it. It struck me. Now, I can’t really conjure up thoughts in regard to Elowen at this moment, for reasons I can’t quite explain with words. I am so immensely proud of her, the way she fought with every ounce of her, her dragons, Cayden, and the others alongside her through every battle fought. She’s made so many sacrifices just for others to be happy, and in return, she both suffers and feels immense love spreading. That’s all for my girl Elowen.

Cayden. Wow. It was so interesting to see inside of his mind, to understand the inner workings of every one of his actions. His complete and utter devotion for Elowen was so visceral in every aspect. He plowed through steel and bones just for her, and, in my opinion, is the highest form of love within the fantasy fiction world; If he could wield fire, the world would be burnt to an ash.

That’s all for now. I need a nice long shower to quell my thoughts.

I lied, I’m putting one spoiler, but it’ll be a bit down because hehe. It’s not a really big spoiler, just my exact thoughts at the moment in which they were thought at that very exact moment. Mkay? Mkay.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FLYING 🤬 WAS THAT ENDING????? I CANT DO THIS!!!!!! MY HEART IS DEAD AND SMASHED ON THE GROUND IN THE BLOODY DIRT! MS DARLING WTF

Okay, emotional meltdown over. Bye

Fear the Flames ended with Cayden invoking a marriage clause with Elowen and killing the King of Varaveth to save Elowen from being taken to Imirath. In Wrath of Dragons, Cayden and Elowen take on their new roles as King and Queen, prepare for war and deal with internal political conflicts regarding their quick rise to power. Their relationship is in turmoil as Elowen grapples with trusting Cayden.
There were some points that felt stalled and repetitive around 25-50% but after that, I felt like it was very fast paced. I really enjoyed the dual POV in this book as well as the character growth from Elowen. My favorite part of the whole book was the ending, it felt so perfect and left a fantastic starting point for book 3.

I'm sorry and sad to write this review, but I could not even finish this book. I got approximately 60% of the way through, and of that 60% I think 90% was inner monologues and the other 10% was unrealistic dialogue that read more like tiktok bait than actual dialogue. I will not be publishing this review.

First, thank you SO much to Dell Romance & Netgalley for the ARC!!

Fear the Flames is one of my top favorite romantasy books so to be able to receive an ARC for Wrath of the Dragons was an honor & WOW!!! it was seriously SO amazing, i'm still not over it!! It's seriously the perfect mix of romance and fantasy! The world building is incredible and the world that Olivia has created is stunning!

First off, Elowen!!! my dragon queen, the best baker & one of my favorite fmc's EVER!!! I absolutely adored her in this book. I love her kind heart & her strength + bravery.

& for Cayden, I am OBSESSED with him!! we love men who yearn & Cayden is the KING of yearning!!!! Olivia really knows how to write the perfect MMC!! The way he is so devoted to Elowen had me so down bad, I think I highlighted & tabbed in the book everything he has ever said / thought!! being able to get his POVs in WotD was EVERYTHING!!!! I seriously think he is in my top 5 of book boyfriends?!

They are truly one of my favorite romantasy book couples, how endlessly devoted they are to each other & their relationship is everything to me 🥹

I 1000% recommend this book!!!

Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine for this ARC!

The ending of the book and Cayden were honestly the best part.

So that being said I did enjoy this book but I have some qualms. The amount of info dumping and world building was a bit much for me to keep track of. Especially with this being the second book in the series. I felt like a lot of the information should have been covered already.
3.75⭐️

This took me on an emotional ride! This is the second book in the Fear The Flames series. This is a full on romantic fantasy book that I devoured! It comes with lovable characters, especially Cayden. This is a medium paced read that has a diverse cast of characters. I honestly had no idea what was going to come next in the book. It is steamy, thrilling and adventurous. I was fully immersed while reading this book. It took me into a completely different world.

It comes with action, drama and a whole lot of banter! It also includes spice, dragons, war, magic and power. It has love and political turmoil. It is well written, has a clear thesis, a well executed plot and great world building! I loved the dual point of views in this book. It had twists and turns that I did not see coming! It has a morally grey male main character, an epic storyline and battles! I really hope that there will be a third book in this series! Overall, I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars!

I think people that like the books “Game of Thrones” and the “Forth Wing” would enjoy this one. However, I do find this book to be unique in its own way. Content warnings include death, gore, child abuse, misogyny, animal cruelty, sexual content, torture and confinement.

Thank you to NetGalley, author Olivia Rose Darling and Ballantine | Delacorte Press for this digital advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This book is expected to be published on July 29, 2025!

Infinity stars 🌟 + therapy bills for the emotional damage and cliffhanger ending.

I was so honoured and thrilled to have received an e-arc of this book that I barely gave myself time to breathe after finishing the first book before I DOVE into this one. And gods—sleeping or otherwise—was this book amazing.

Did it give me MORE of my demon commander?? Oh yes. Yes. Yes it DID. Dual POV?? Yes please. Let me see what my commander turned king is thinking and feeling PLEASE.

Also—please, where do I order me a version of Cayden Veles?? A girl has needs and Cayden is a need.

I loved getting to see the growth of both characters and the found family in this book. AND THE DRAGONS!!! They had such different and cute personalities in each one and I was so excited to get to see that and learn them with Elowen.

I had so many favourite lines and scenes. Some made me tear up happy tears. Some devastated me—and yeah I’m STILL not over them—but boy am I so ready for the NEXT book.

This series is absolutely one of my favourites now and I’m so excited to see where we go from that ending. If you haven’t already, pick it up. Read the first book. And immediately dive into this one. I cannot wait for more.

I received this as an arc and so excited to read it early. If it’s been some time since reading Fear the Flames, you may want to reread or skim the ending to familiarize yourself with where things stood and the relationship status between characters.

It took a bit for me to get into the story and there were more politics than the first in terms of strategy and alliances. After a few references, names and kingdoms stuck and became easier to understand.

I really enjoyed El’s journey to self and seeing her advance her skills, relationships with others (and the dragons), and come into her power as a ruler. Yes, there’s some spice and a love story, but her growth and confidence was just as entertaining and appreciated. Seeing her stick up for herself and others while staying true to her convictions and goals was apparent from start to finish.

As the ending approached, I wondered how it was going to wrap up and how it would set up for another book. I will say I am extremely excited for the next book. I love the set up in storyline that seems to be book 3.

Thank you to NetGalley, Ballantine and Olivia Rose Darling for this eARC.

BUT ACTUALLY NO THANKS BECAUSE WHAT WAS THAT!!!
This book was stellar. The prose and the love between these two characters is magnificent. Watching them fall in love deeper and truer is a gift. I feel as though I formed a bond with every single character, even the side characters. I have yet to find an author that makes me cry with words and feelings like Olivia.
If you liked the first book even a little bit, you'll love this one even more. The humor will make you laugh out loud, the banter is so tasty it almost makes up for being emotionally stepped on!
Unfortunately, I feel as though I'm unable to express how much I love this book, this world, these characters without regurgitating spoilers. I'm truly at a loss for words with this book.
Olivia, you better fix this, I need an emotional bandaid after this.

This book was a masterpiece. IT is as captivating as the first book. The tension and pining oh my and the dragons? This book had an amazing storyline and the writing was so whimsical.

The beginning was a little slow for my tastes. The pacing felt off with lots of inner monologue repetition

Game of Thrones meets Romantasy.

Hey, so I am not okay!!!!!

What in the Percy Jackson??!??!?!

So blessed to have been chosen by netgalley for an ARC!

I tried to savor this book as much as I could because I absolutely adore this world and these characters. I’ve been waiting two years for this book ever since the indie release in 2022🥹 and I was not disappointed! I literally love the way she writes character relationships/ interactions and every side characters stolen moments.

This plot was so thrilling and had me on the edge of my seat every single time. Cannot wait for everyone to read it :)) That ending is not for the weak 💔.

This book. It made me laugh, cry, scream. All the things.

It’s been a little while since I read Fear the Flames, but this book was so captivating from the first page, it felt like no time had passed. Some highlights for me were Cayden’s POVs (so many amazing quotes), the introduction of new characters, and of course, the stellar found family. The cliffhanger was brutal—I’m desperate for the next book in this series.

Thank you to Ballantine (Delacorte Press) for an early copy of Wrath of the Dragons!

Well this book just ruined me 😭

I love Cayden so much the YEARNING this man had for Ellowen the entire book. The ending had me in tears. I wasn’t ready for the turn it took and now I’m going to be in agony waiting for the next book.

I love the dragons and the magic of this world. I love the hints at future relationships.

<spoiler>I enjoy that the “war” aspect of the book wasn’t dragged out for multiple books but u also feel as if the war ending a little to quickly?¿ I am intrigued for how the underworld aspect is going to play in future books. It’s not often that an author allows for the MC to “die” I believe that Elowen will return in the next book but I fear she will not be the same. I think her and Cayden might actually be the god/goddess they are “blessed” by. I cannot wait so how the series develops from being a war/battle to being about gods/goddesses and the spiritual aspect of the world. </spoiler>

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and I'm so sad that it didn't live up to the greatness of Fear the Flames. What I loved: Elowen and Cayden's love. Dear lord, they are perfect and their love for each other and Cayden's devotion to Elowen is unmatched. He is the most possessive, adorably protective caveman of a MMC with the sweetest heart. I SWOON. The found family the author created in book 1 also continues beautifully in book 2. All of them -Saskia and Ryder and Finnian and Cayden and Elowen- they're all such a tight-knit unit with great chemistry together, and I just wanted to hold them all in a nice protective little bubble to keep them safe and happy.

What I didn't like: I still feel like we barely got any more on the dragons. The book is literally called Wrath of the Dragons, and I still don't feel any more attached to them?! I really appreciated all of the world building we got with this book and feel that it added a lot of depth to the world, but sometimes it felt like info dumping. We also saw a lot more politics and magic in this book (again, LOVE THAT) but it felt messily described and scattered and underdeveloped at times (like specifically some of Elowen's magic/abilities when it comes to her bond with the dragons...how does she know how to do some of these things with seemingly barely any training?!)

The ending was a shock. Absolutely did not expect the book to take that turn and now I'll just be crying over here waiting for book 3. Thanks Netgalley for the e-ARC!

3.5 ⭐️ My issue with this book is the same one I had with the first book, I liked it but it took me forever to get through. I think it’s the writing honestly. I did have an ARC copy so I can overlook some of the editing issues but the pacing is a little off.

It was better than the first indie version. And I admit I didn’t read the traditional reprint version which may have been important. I was still able to follow along without it.

Cayden definitely carried this book but that isn’t to discredit any of the other characters. There really is a strong found family theme to this book that’s nice. I normally am not the biggest fan of that trope but it works in this case.

Overall, it’s a really enjoyable book and worth a read. I wish it was a little shorter and more to the point but I still liked it.

**Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine for sending me an arc of this book!**

*ARC REVIEW*
“Something lurks within you, Cayden, and whenever it manifests, make sure it’s felt across the world.”

OOOF THIS BOOK. So much more world building and kingdom exploration this time around! Elowen is as vengeful as ever and I AM HERE FOR IT.
We get to see Elowen's power continue to grow and we watch her relationships blossom throughout the journey. Very fast paced and SO MANY twists and turns. I LOVED seeing Cayden grow and his POVs were something I didn't know I desperately needed.
The ending though? I am shook. We love a twist that twists and my Gods this was the ending I definitely didn't see coming.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC it was everything I imagined
