I absolutely ate up this enemies to lovers fake dating sports story! Tessa Bailey never fails to provide a well written story, with laugh out loud moments and the perfect amount of spice! This has a great family dynamic that keeps the story interesting and not just about the main characters, the friendships and teammates fit in just perfectly! Absolutely recommend picking this book up!

Pitcher Perfect is a breezy and entertaining addition to Tessa Bailey’s Big Shots series. The story follows Skylar Paige, a focused collegiate softball pitcher, and Robbie Corrigan, a charming rookie, who team up for a fake relationship to make Skylar’s longtime crush jealous during a chaotic family wilderness competition.

The book blends classic fake-dating and opposites-attract tropes with plenty of humor, sizzling chemistry, and heartfelt moments. Robbie is refreshingly respectful despite his cocky, playful persona, and Skylar is a strong, relatable heroine balancing family pressures and self-discovery. Their banter and gradual connection kept me hooked, even if the romance did move at a lightning pace.

The family competition setting adds a unique and fun backdrop, contributing to the lighthearted, summer-romcom vibe. While some plot points felt rushed and the insta-love may not be for everyone, the story’s charm, character growth, and spicy romance make it an enjoyable read.

If you like fast-paced, steamy sports romances with strong heroines and playful heroes, Pitcher Perfect is a solid pick. I’m definitely looking forward to more from this series!

At this point I blindly trust Tessa Bailey, and she’s earned it once again.

I loved how Robbie just knew all along how much of a bad idea this was for him, that he would get hurt, but couldn’t stop himself from giving Skylar anything she’d ask for from the moment he met her. He’s all big bad boy on the outside, very sweet inside but trying to hide it. And once he starts showing up for her, protecting her, fighting for her?! Oh boy he was incredible.

I loved Skylar’s character just as much. She is strong and sarcastic and takes no bullshit, but somehow insecure. Except with Robbie - it was really funny that she didn’t even try to impress Robbie, and yet that’s exactly how she got him down so bad. The banter between them was top tier, and their connection and attraction was growing page after page in the best way. And sure, maybe there were a few times where I wanted to shake Skylar to open her eyes and just climb her fake boyfriend already…

Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for giving a chance to read Pitcher Perfect! Tess Bailey does such a good job of bringing you seamlessly back into the world of the Bearcats. The story of Robbie and Skylar was such a fun read.

All though this is a standalone story, I think it’s important to go back and see the foundation that the author lays out for Robbie. He is initially established as one of two “Orgasm Donors”, giving the reader the sense of the playboy he is. Through out Pitcher Perfect, we the reader get to see his growth as a character, which was great.

The story progresses over a short timeline while Robbie and Skylar visit her childhood home for some good ole family bonding.

Tessa Bailey is once again great at giving her reader those popular tropes including: Enemies to Lovers, Fake Dating, Instalove, and more.
I recommend this 4th installment to the Bearcats series and I hope it keeps going

i’ll be honest and state that i wasn’t sure how to feel about robbie being the male mc in this story. sure, i’m here for a good redemption, but his actions in the previous books was pretty cringy.

i loved skylar. she’s smart and and tough cookie, with a gooey center inside. she wants to feel appreciated and the center of someone’s world. enter robbie. their first meeting is hilarious and even though it’s seen in dream girl drama, we get it first hand here. these two have instant animosity, loads of competition, and a slow simmering attraction that is apparent from the first page. there are a good amount of characters here, including some of the previous couples.

plot wise, it’s so good. there are so many open conversations between a lot of the characters (not just the MCs) and it was really refreshing to read. i also didn’t realize that “he’s gone for her” is one of my favorite tropes, but i’m absolutely loving how hard robbie worked to show skylar that he could be trusted. the scenes with robbie and mailer were some of my favorite and i can’t wait for his book.

overall, i didn’t think anything would top my love for fangirl down, but this one is tied for one of my favorites from tessa. here’s hoping that the next book is madden and eve.

**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books, and Tessa Bailey for this free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I think this is my favorite "Big Shots" book since Fangirl Down. This was such a fun ride. And, as a fellow brunette from Rhode Island, I really identified with Skylar (those are our only similarities).

This book mostly took place in the span of a week, but it didn't feel like "instalove" - and that is a testament to how real Tessa Bailey can make her characters feel. It was totally plausible that they'd fall in love in the span of a week! No one does whirlwind romances with big, beautiful reunions like her.

I did chuckle at the thought of a glamorous burlesque club being located in CUMBERLAND, RHODE ISLAND, but I can forgive it for the sake of future plots (Madden & Eve, I'm looking at you).

Please never let this series end.

I really loved this book! The characters were some of my favorites from this series so far. I loved all of the sass and the banter. I did dislike some of the miscommunication that was happening, but it was slight so I still loved this book. It was such a fun read!

5/5
Tessa baileys books always hit the spot.
Skylar and Robbie meet during a spur of the moment baseball game. His hockey team against her brother and a few of his baseball friends. Robbie screws up his first impression and then makes a bet for thirty minute date with Skylar. Skylar’s family has an Annul competition and her best friend end who is usually her partner can’t make it. So she reaches out to Robbie. And they agree to pretend to be together and win the competition. As the week goes on she realizes that her first impression of Robbie may not be correct. Things heat up not just for the competition but behind clothes doors.
This book was funny and so nice to explore behind the masks people use to protect themselves. I loved that Robbie and Skylar didn’t try to change each other. They just excepted how they both worked and messed together seamlessly.

This was another fun Tessa Bailey book that has fake dating, a family competition, a hot redhead who is a notorious playboy, and a young woman who isn't easily pulled in by said man's charm. Like most Tessa Bailey romances this book brings the steam and romance to the forefront of the book but we also get to see growth in our main characters.

If anything, I would have liked to get more relationships with the side characters in this one, the friends and families just seemed more one-dimensional than we have gotten in past books.

While sports romances are not typically my favorite troupe, I can trust Tessa Bailey to give me a solid reading experience!

Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for a digital ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Robbie after seeing him in previous books, but he was definitely redeemed. The relationship between him and Skylar unfolds really naturally even with all of the hijinks that ensue. I love all of Tessa Bailey’s books, but this is one of my favorites.

What to expect: fake dating, spicy lessons, he falls first/hard, forced proximity, one bed, and of course sports romance. Tessa Bailey romance is always a winner.
I loved the banter and growth between Robbie and Skylar. We meet the couple in the previous book, but that's also where this book begins - with insight on that moment from our MCs. The loathing is real based on Skylar's initial interaction, but she also can see how he might help her - get the guy, become more confident, kick butt in family games... it all comes together. I really loved how strong of a character Skylar is and I think the outsider feeling will resonate with a lot of people. The fact that she felt so challenged and on the outside within her own family really hit the feels. Robbie, our beloved Orgasm Donor #1, gets his wake up call in Skylar and goes for her at full speed to fix his path. He is a great teacher, lots of good spice, and it's great seeing him step up and help her family see her.
This was a 4 star for me because while I really love Rocket and Redbeard, there were a few areas that felt a little off for me. I don't think this counts as a spoiler, but I could see Madden's interest in Eve straight away - so that made it hard to see any 'interest' from Madden when it came to Skylar. The only other thing that bothered me a bit was toward the end of the book there were a few sentences that seemed like a narrator/foreshadowing moment which just felt out of place/ took me out of the moment.
I've love the Big Shots series! Cannot wait for the next one - looks like it might be Madden/Eve, especially since we know Mailer's moment is a little ways down the road... So excited for the next one already and to get my pretty signed copy preorder! Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager | Avon for the advance electronic copy via NetGalley! All opinions are my own.

What happens when a f$ck boy hockey player and a softball pitcher that wants nothing to do with him play a competitive game of baseball together? You HAVE to read this in order to find out. I had so much fun reading this book. Immediately I knew from the moment I read Skylar’s thoughts of Robbie when she first saw him I was going to enjoy this.

You’ll enjoy this if you love: he falls first, sports romance, heavy banter, and fake dating. Also the flirting lessons were so good! I am so obsessed with how Down Bad Robbie is for Skylar! I’m so embarrassed to say this is my first Tessa book I’ve read. Although I have so many of her editions!! I enjoyed this so much that she is an auto buy author for me now.

There were so many things I loved about Pitcher Perfect, book 4 in the Big Shots series by Tessa Bailey, but they were all overshadowed by the seriously unbelievable speed our MMC, Robbie, went from absolute slutbag to monogamously in love with FMC Skyler. Blink and you’ll miss it. For those that either prefer or don’t care how insta the love is, I say jump right in. But if you like a bit of the push and pull tension, this won’t suffice. Regardless, the scenes with Skyler’s uber competitive family in their version of the Olympics, I was dying laughing seeing my competitive asss trying my best to win. Their week with her family is where the bilk of the story takes place and I’m glad. So much comic relief. Full disclosure, this is the first book I’ve read of the series, and I didn’t feel lost at all.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC, take my honest options with a grain of salt and enjoy!

5 - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Living without her would be like asking someone to run full speed into outer space.”

Pitcher Perfect is the fourth instalment in the adult sports romance series, Big Shots. Each novel can be read standalone as they follow a different couple each time but they exist in the same world where characters will be seen across the books. Written in dual third person POV we follow Skylar and Robbie, a division one softball pitcher and a NHL player, as their fake dating and flirting lessons while at a family competition begin to give way to something so much more...if they're willing to give it a try.

Okay I adore Robbie so much!

He starts this novel as very much a player - he's used to having fun and literally has a shirt that says "orgasm donor." His initial meeting with Skylar does not go well at all but he's drawn to her and can't let her go. While he offers to fake date her in order to prove himself to her as more than just a player I felt the effortlessness to which he supports and is there for Skylar. Everything he does is with a thought it would help Skylar and it felt so casual - like why wouldn't he do this for her. His pining for her is therefore ELITE and I was rooting for him!

Skylar is a woman who is constantly pushing herself. She feels like she is never enough but she is a powerhouse. She has this need for control and organization that is a little endearing. I truly felt for her struggle to prove herself to family and also her need to figure out how to win over her brother's best friend. She struggles to trust Robbie because of his (and her) history but as he shows more and more care she is faced with this amazing guy that seems too good to be true.

“Here’s a lesson for you, Rocket. A guy doesn’t choose to spend a week with a girl’s deranged family unless he’s into her. Like, really [effing] into her…”

In terms of spice I would place it at 3 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. There are about 5-6 spicy scenes with the first appearing around the 45% mark. It starts with self pleasure scenes that gradually grow into something more. This book also has teaching scenes as Skylar felt her previous spicy experiences were minimal and lacklustre. This made the spice really fun - especially with Robbie being quite enthusiastic. The spice was explicit and detailed with Robbie having quite a way with words and he made Skylar have fun first. Tessa knows how to write spice!

The story took me a little bit to get my bearings but once Skylar and Robbie made their agreement to join forces for her family competition and to get Skylar the guy (her brother’s best friend) I felt more centered. I enjoyed the bonding that comes with the competitions, I enjoyed the banter and flirting alongside it. I liked the character journeys and how the side characters really helped challenge our characters to act both with regards to Skylar’s parents' treatment of her success and Robbie’s feeling of frustration with some of his teammate’s teasing. Skylar’s family is quite eccentric with their challenges and it really drew me in. I wasn't expecting a few twists along the way but they have me excited for future books! Robbie had me grinning and awing a lot. I wanted to shake Skylar a few times because she didn't always see how amazing she was and this had a tendency to turn to the negative. I was easily able to devour this in a day because the pacing got so good! There are traditional aspects to the romance but Robbie does a good job redeeming himself. The epilogue was sweet and capped the story off beautifully for me!

Overall, another sports romance I had so much fun with! Tessa continues to wow me!

Thank you Avon for this arc!

Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey, part of the Big Shots series, is her best book yet! Robbie, who made a bad first impression in a previous story, is a hockey player who is just struck dumb by Skylar, a competitive collegiate pitcher. Robbie easily makes my top 5 all time best book boyfriends! I loved the storyline, I loved the characters (both our main couple and their family and loved ones), and of course the banter is off the charts! I'm so excited too for the next Big Shots book, which was hinted at in this one!

Bold statement but maybe my favorite Tessa Bailey book yet? I feel like I’ve been chasing the high of reading the Bellinger Sisters series from TB and this was a really fun read! Pretty funny and sweet, glad I gave it a chance.

I had this book on my wishlist and by some miracle, I was gifted an ARC by Avon and Harper Voyager. With that being said, I jumped right into reading. Basically read it in 24 hours.

I am an avid reader of Tessa Bailey and this one hits for me. I love a reformed playboy who falls hard for the FMC. Robbie is so lovable and every one deserves someone like him in their corner. He makes some misogynistic comments when meeting our FMC. When she shines a light on his behaviors, he realizes his mistakes. I love the banter between Robbie and Skylar. They have great chemistry together and their dynamic just works for me.

Not a huge fan of instalove. The main events take place within a week, maybe two. I enjoyed the characters so much that I didn't mind too much.

This is one of my favorites. I can't wait until this comes out so I can add the physical copy to my collection.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!

This may be my new favorite Tessa Bailey. 4.5 stars.

For professional hockey player for the Boston Bearcats, Robbie Corrigan, it is love at first sight when he meets Skyler Page, a D1 softball pitcher for Boston University during a not-so-friendly hockey players vs. baseball players ball game. Discovering Skylar is seriously competitive, Robbie gets Skyler to agree that if he gets on base against her, he can take her on a date following the game. Skylar takes that bet with confidence, knowing Robbie won't get able to hit her pitching.

Leaning into Skylar's fastball and a brawl later, Robbie takes Skylar out for orange juice and Skylar puts Robbie in his place.

However, the date isn't a total bust when Robbie finds out Skylar no longer has a partner to compete with her in the Page Stakes, her family's annual Olympics. Robbie also learns that Skylar is in love with Madden, her brother's best friend and has limited experience with men. Thus, the fake dating scheme is devised and Robbie joins Skylar and her family in Rhode Island for the Page Stakes and dating practice with the intention of making Madden jealous.

This book was so wonderful and I loved that it delved into deeper topics than other Tessa books typically do. The highlight of insecurity and not feeling enough as who you are really touched me. Robbie's fierce protectiveness of Skylar and his pride in her and her accomplishments was the most romantic thing I've read in a while.

As a sport romance girlie, I am loving the Big Shots series and the story crossovers. Really looking forward to reading Madden and Eve's story next!

Tessa truly found the magic with this series. There has not been a single book that I have not just absolutely adored. This one though, was one that I have been waiting for.

With a duo like the orgasm donors, you know that they are going to get up to some mischief and that didn't disappoint. I wasn't expecting just how hard and fast that Robbie would fall--though I should have expected it Tessa is the queen of writing books where the men fall harder and faster and then have to pine.

This book did not lack spice but it was the perfect spice for these two. The chemistry between these two is absolutely off the charts. I don't blush often when reading, but these two had me feeling some feelings.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon and Tessa Bailey for providing me an ARC of this book, I am truly honored and I loved every second of this read. I genuinely could not put it down.

What a dangerous game they're playing!

Skylar has two goals: win her family's annual competition, and score her brother's best friend for herself. To do that, she needs a replacement partner for the upcoming Page Stakes, someone who will also make her crush just a teeny bit jealous - enough to rouse his attention to the fact that she's so much more than his friend's little sister. The brash, womanizing, overly confident hockey player who's as competitive as she is seems to be the perfect choice - he'll not only help her win the games, he'll also pretend to be her boyfriend and help her catch her catcher.

Ah, the best laid plans... One of my favorite tropes, and this book is a perfect example of why. The sparks flying between these two are full of animosity, at first, but then they see enough of each other's true colors to start changing their original opinions, and that's when things really get interesting.

This story is equal parts steam and hilarity, with a double dose of emotional intensity. Lots of fun to read from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys contemporary rom-coms.
