Tessa Bailey once again delivers a charming, steamy, and emotionally satisfying romance in Pitcher Perfect. With her signature wit and lovable characters, she brings a story that feels both fun and full of heart.

Pitcher Perfect follows the story of [insert main character’s name here if you’d like—it helps personalize the review], who finds themselves entangled in a slow-burn romance that balances flirty tension with genuine emotional growth. Bailey’s writing shines through her clever dialogue, laugh-out-loud moments, and steamy chemistry that jumps off the page.

What I appreciated most was the balance between light-hearted romantic fun and the deeper emotional arcs. The characters aren’t just falling in love—they’re working through personal fears, past hurts, and learning to open themselves up in ways that feel real and relatable.

If you’re a fan of sports romance, small-town vibes, or love a good opposites-attract trope, this book hits all the right notes. It’s sexy, sweet, and full of that unmistakable Tessa Bailey spark. I devoured it in a day—and smiled the whole way through.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A perfect summer read!

Thank you NetGalley for the E-arc of Pitcher Perfect in exchange for my honest opinion!

I enjoyed this book! It was a quick and fun read, held my interest, and the characters were great. I had not read any of the other books from the series but this book makes me want to.

A great addition to the Bog Shots series!! I was dubious about the MMC but found him lovable and interesting very quickly! I feel the tension and subsequent break up made sense and felt not forced. The getting back together was also believable. The epilogue was kind of a lot though.

Thanks to Netgalley for the approval free download of this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this read & thought the story was really sweet. I loved the idea of fake dating to impress a crush trope & I thought the plot was good. I really like Tessa Bailey's writing style so this was a great read for with some laugh out loud moments throughout the entire book. This will be a book I go ahead and preorder to add to my Tessa Bailey collection.

This entire series has been a whole different level of amazing by Tessa Bailey. I'm also thankful that this one wasn't as spicy as her other novels have been.

Overall I LOVED Robbie and Skylar so having them together was phenomenal. I had been waiting to see more to a character than someone who simply wore a shirt that said "orgasm donor," and Bailey did not disappoint with him. His willingness to do whatever he could to support Skylar from the beginning was dreamy and admirable, and his competitive streak was top tier.

SKYLAR was a character I feel that so many readers will relate to. The pressure she puts on herself to perform, dealing with her emotions under lock and key, and always wanting to please her family is something I'm sure many daughters and women have experienced.

The epilogues that Bailey has been wriitng at the end of this series are some of my most favorite ever and I can't wait to read the next.

If you’re a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers romance with a reformed bad boy at its heart, Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey is an absolute must-read.

The story follows Robbie, a hot-headed baseball player with a past, and Skylar, the fiery woman who seems to be the only one immune to his charm. From the very first page, their chemistry crackles—and so does their rivalry. What starts as mutual annoyance quickly turns into something deeper, more intimate, and surprisingly tender.

What I loved most was how Robbie’s transformation wasn’t overnight or superficial. Tessa Bailey paints a layered picture of a man who learns what it means to show up—fully and loyally—for the person he loves. Skylar doesn’t just tame the bad boy; she meets him head-on with her own strength and vulnerability. Together, they defy expectations and rewrite their story.

This book is for anyone who believes that love can change people—but only when it’s earned. It’s witty, steamy, and emotionally satisfying in all the right ways.

Final thought: Read this if you’re rooting for the bad boy, love some fiery banter, and want to see two stubborn hearts fall hard.

ARC Review - Pitcher Perfect 💖🔥📖

Picture Perfect gave me EVERYTHING I want in a sports romance: a cocky hockey player 🏒, a fierce softball queen 🥎, fake dating (!!!) and the slow, delicious burn of enemies-to-lovers tension that kept me hooked from start to finish!

Robbie Corrigan is your classic charming, cocky NHL rookie—with a twist. He’s unexpectedly sweet, adorably clueless when it comes to feelings, and absolutely smitten with Skylar—the one woman who sees right through him and his “orgasm donor” reputation. 😂💘 Their banter? Top tier. Their chemistry? Off the charts 🔥.

Skylar is such a badass heroine—strong, independent, not here for anyone’s crap—and her slow softening toward Robbie felt so earned and satisfying. 💪💓 Watching her realize that maybe the player is playing for keeps? Ugh. Perfection.

The family wilderness competition was pure rom-com gold 🏕️🌲, forcing these two opposites to rely on each other in the funniest, steamiest ways possible. And the fake dating turned very real trope was handled SO well—fun, spicy, but also filled with genuine emotional beats. 💞

If you love:
✅ Fake Dating
✅ Enemies to Lovers
✅ Spicy lessons in seduction 😏🔥
✅ Laugh-out-loud banter
✅ Sports romance goodness...

You will EAT THIS UP. 🍽️📚

Tessa Bailey delivered a flirty, fun, hot as hell romance with a surprisingly big heart. Robbie and Skylar are officially one of my favorite Bailey couples EVER. 🏆💗

Highly recommend for fans of spicy sports romance and lovable himbos who fall HARD. 🏒🥎💖

A fun romantic romp that you should absolutely clear your schedule for! This is the perfect palate cleanser for the summer months, when all you need is some love and a happy ending!

Skylar is a D1 softball pitcher who is trying to get the attention of her brother's best friend, Madden, while spending a week back home to participate in her family's annual summer competition. Her usual partner is unable to attend this year: enter NHL rookie Robbie who Skylar meets at a pickup baseball game between her brother's baseball team and Robbie's hockey team. Skylar and Robbie decide to fake-date which gives Skylar a partner for the summer competition and the opportunity to make Madden jealous.

The timeline for this definitely gives insta-love, but I think it's still a very cute and fun story! A quick summer read with great banter and "teach me" moments. I could definitely feel the chemistry between the main characters and loved the protectiveness Robbie had over Skylar in front of her family. I also loved seeing the personal growth within Robbie, even with the timeline being a bit unrealistic.

3.5/5 stars

Now this is what I’m talking about.
I’ve eaten up so many of Tessa Bailey’s books and I have been very grateful to get an ARC of 3 books in this series, but I think this one tops it for me.

Pitcher Perfect was sexy, romantic, honest, and such a quick, fun read. Skylar was a headstrong character who I found really enjoyable to follow throughout the book and Robbie was… I mean COME ON. Perfect!

I like that we didn’t have to wait the entirety of the novel for them to get together, but we didn’t get complete satisfaction right away, either.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one and I can’t wait to see who gets spotlighted next. I’m kind of hoping it’s Madden and Eve? But I also really want to see Mailer have his moment.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with the ARC of this novel!

Thank you to the author and publisher for the gifted ebook to enjoy early!

This was the perfect light romance to break up my long fantasy books I choose mostly. I loved the pacing of this. There was just enough angst and them having to work for their relationship and not just a fluffy instalove kind of thing. I also love that there was a few underlying themes of self discovery and confidence of self. They both had some things to find out about themselves that they realized with each other.

I liked this one and only realized it was book four after looking it up. I just happened to see this recommended and grabbed it. I will definitely read the first three books now.

Robbie is a rookie NHL hockey player known for his player tendencies both on and off the ice. Skylar is a division 1 softball pitcher who has had a lifetime crush on her brother's best friend. When Robbie and Skylar meet at a pick up baseball game, Robbie is immediately smitten, but Skylar won't give him the time of day. Soon Robbie volunteers to fake date Skylar to make her crush jealous.

Tessa Bailey hits it out of the park with this rom com. Fake dating is such a fun trope, and I liked the setting of this one within a family competition. I really enjoyed Robbie and Skylar's love story and thought the added depth of Skylar's family dynamics added to the story. I also love seeing the peaks we get at past characters and hints of future romances in this sports club Boston setting.

The fourth book in the Big Shots series did not disappoint! It was a quick, fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Scottie is in love with her brother’s best friend—who has never looked at her twice. To get his attention, she enlists NHL rookie Robbie to pose as her boyfriend and make him jealous. She brings Robbie home for her family’s annual wilderness competition, and even schedules him—literally, in her planner—to help her gain some experience in the dating world.

Given this premise, did I expect it to be relatable or believable? Absolutely not. But it didn’t matter—I still loved it and loved these two together. I enjoyed watching them find a balance between their competitive and sensitive sides. I also appreciated that both characters were working on themselves in different ways. Was the timeline for their growth a bit far-fetched? Sure. But again, it didn’t really matter to me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon/Harper Voyager for the advanced copy.

I don’t have words 🥹. I loved this book so much. Robbie and Skylar are some new favorites for sure. I wasn’t sure what to expect given how Robbie’s character is in a couple of the other books. I also only gave Dream Girl Drama 4 stars because I just didn’t enjoy the characters as much. I was worried this would be the same. I have already raved about this book to one of my friends and I highly recommend it to everyone. The story line, characters, growth, and cameo of other characters was all phenomenal. I’ll need a physical copy of this when it releases in the fall! Thank you NetGalley for the E-Arc!

I think my life will finally be complete when I get an ARC from the Tessa Bailey. I was so lucky to be able to snag a Read Now copy of this book on NetGalley. The second I saw these two in Dream Girl Drama I just knew I HAD to have their story.

And let me tell you this did not disappoint. I love my classic tropes of play-boy turned boy OBSESSED, and watching Robbie flounder over Skylar was nothing if not entertaining and heart-warming. This story had me cackling at one point and then crying the next. I absolutely ADORED the emotional journey that we watched Skylar go on with her family and those feelings of not being enough. Those down moments also made it that much more satisfying and rewarding when we watched Robbie (lover boy) stand up for her. As much as it pains me to admit it, I cried more than once reading this.

I love getting to revisit all my favorite couples from the previous books (except Josephine and Wells, hope those babies are doing good). If there's one thing I will commend Miss Tessa for in this series is the heart-warming male friendships that always seem to seep out. Like when the time comes these boys are there for each other, whether it's a vindictive baseball game or a good dressing-down, "go get her" moment.

Robbie is one of my favorite Tessa MMC's by far because he was just constantly showing up for her at every turn in this book. Regardless of whether or not he saw his heart getting broken he almost always put Skylar first which is what I dream of. Another wonderful installment by Tessa Bailey and I cannot wait to have a copy in my hands. <3

New favorite Tessa book?! I think so! This series gets better and better with each book. This was swoony, funny, and so very spicy. I can't wait to own the physical book for my shelf. What a freaking gem!

3.5, i liked this book! I’ve really enjoyed the other books in this interconnected series so i was excited to get approved for this arc.

It started off a little rough for me but once i got deeper into the book, i really enjoyed it. I really enjoy Tessa’s banter and charaCter work so this book stood up to the standard. It wasnt perfect for me because i just dont love insta love/lust and literally in the first POV of the MMC, he’s already completely mesmerized by her which just defeats the purpose of an enemies to lovers trope in my opinion. We need yearninggg in romance again.

I do always enjoy Tessa’s books and they’re always a quick read so i’ll always pick them up! Thank you to netgalley for the e-arc.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Publications for this ARC! Pitcher Perfect is Robbie’s story (yes one of the “orgasm donors” from the previous two books in the series, I’m as shocked as you are) as he meets and falls for Skylar, a collegiate pitcher who is sadly in love with another man. Robbie agrees to fake-date Skylar at her family’s annual reunion to get her crush to notice her, but the fake-dating turns not fake very quickly. No one is more surprised than me that I actually had a really fun time with this book, it was really cute and much better than the previous two books in the series! It still wasn’t my favorite TB book (love u 4ever Fangirl Down) but I liked it enough to continue the series, which looks to be at least 3 more books if the side character foreshadowing is any indication.

The good:
-Skylar and Robbie were just so dang likeable, and I think that likeable leads were the main thing missing from The Au Pair Affair and Dream Girl Drama. Skylar is competent, independent, ambitious, and smart, while still being vulnerable with Robbie. Robbie is funny and sweet and not too alpha-bro-y compared to Burgess and Sig, and definitely treats Skylar as more of an equal
-The story was fun, I liked the family competition aspect, it made for some funny moments
-It wasn’t too angsty, it brought back the more light-hearted tone that Fangirl Down had and I enjoy that a lot more

The bad:
-The characters and situations were sometimes very unbelievable and not realistic and a bit cheesy
-The spicy scenes were a little cringey
-The third-act breakup/miscommunication was stupid and out of character for both Skylar and Robbie in my opinion
-This book is absolutely not enemies to lovers, it is love at first sight for one and annoyance at first sight for the other

The swoony:
-Robbie and Skylar had a fun relationship with banter and chemistry, and even though it was a little instant-love/lust-y, I thought their relationship grew depth outside of just the physical stuff
-I loved that Skylar made Robbie want to be a better person, and that Robbie always put Skylar first and took care of her. Their relationship felt like two people who fit together well and wanted the best for each other

Is this book just 5 tropes in a trench coat? Absolutely but I still had a really fun time with this one, Tessa Bailey pulled me right back into this series!

Robbie Corrigan. Fucking Robbie Corrigan.
I was NOT expecting for fall for him, but he might be my favorite MMC of this series so far.

And Skylar? Oh, my heart felt for her and how her family has shaped her view of herself. I just wanted to give her a big huge hug.

Robbie and Skylar together?? 🔥🔥

He pays attention. He holds on to the little details that matter, actually SEES her. She writes him off at first but grows to love and appreciate him.

After getting sucked into a competitive baseball game between The Bearcats and various collegiate/professional softball/baseball players in Boston (thanks to a little situation between Elton/Chloe/Sig/et al in Dream Girl Drama), Robbie meets and instantly falls for Skylar, the pitcher on the opposing team. After a few stars line up in Robbie’s favor, he has lucked his way into fake dating Skylar at her family’s yearly competition. The only problem? Skylar is in love with her brother’s best friend, and Robbie has agreed to help her get the guy.

🏒 He falls first, and harder
🥎 She’s into her brother’s bff
🏒 Fake dating
🥎 He teaches her how to flirt (& more)
🏒 Family competition
🥎 Softball x hockey
🏒 Reformed playboy
🥎 Adorably alliterate nicknames

I also have a super soft spot for this book, having grown up playing softball. Honestly, the representation of golf & softball are likely why Fangirl Down & Pitcher Perfect are my top two books of the series!

Thank you so much Avon & NetGalley for an advance copy of this book!

This is a really great addition to the Big Shots series! I really loved the look into the mental challenges both main characters were experiencing throughout the book, Robbie with grief, and Skylar feeling like she will never measure up to her family’s expectations felt very real. I personally still have the Au Pair Affair as my favorite from this series, but Pitcher Perfect is a very close second for me!
