I certainly hope Tessa Bailey keeps this series going because each story is better than the one before! Skylar Page is a strong lead and so relatable- readers will adore the chemistry between Robbie and her and will appreciate the mentions on other Bearcats team members. Thanks so much to #netgalley for the opportunity to preview #pitcherperfect - I may need tonreread it before its release date!

I'm a sucker for a sports romance, and Tessa Bailey did not disappoint with Pitcher Perfect! Robbie and Skylar have a rocky start to say the least, and the in-story rivalry between baseball and hockey sets up this enemies-to-lovers brilliantly. Having both main characters be professional athletes made the moments between them feel genuine, and I really loved watching their attempt at fake dating flourish into something bigger! I will absolutely be going back and reading all of Tessa Bailey's other Big Shots romances because of this book!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book!! It was such a quick and easy read. That being said, it was hard to believe that all these events + feelings could have developed in a mere week and a half. I guess that's the fun of books though so no hate from me! I know I am a sucker for a redemption arc for the main male character and Robbie definitely had one.
I can't wait to see which side character can get their own book next -- maybe Elton, Mailer, or even better Madden + Eve
Long story short, if Tessa Bailey writes a book, I will read it :)

This was a fun, easy read — classic Tessa Bailey rom-com territory with lots of banter, bold characters, and of course, some signature steam. The spice was good, though not my favorite she’s written (I know she can bring more heat with better buildup). Still, I breezed through it and found myself smiling at the cuteness.
That said… the plot was pretty bonkers. Two people falling in love in, what, a week? It was a lot to suspend disbelief for. I know insta-love is a thing in romance, but this one really leaned into it hard. I didn’t totally buy the emotional depth because we just didn’t get enough time with the characters together before all the big feelings showed up.
If you’re looking for something light, spicy, and totally over-the-top, this will do the trick. Just don’t expect a grounded or slow-burning love story.

Tessa Bailey doing what she does best! I always know I’ll have a good time reading her books. Loved seeing this side of the “orgasm donor” lol! If you liked her others this will be for you! Thanks to the author, NetGalley, and Harper Collins for the ARC!

This was so much fun to read -- I'm talking giggling, squealing, kicking my feet. Robbie Corrigan, who we met in Dream Girl Drama, is the definition of himbo, golden retriever, class clown, you name it. He's also an unrepentant playboy (until he meets softball phenom Skylar Page, that is). He's such a goof, but is serious about his sport and works to make sure people take him seriously--encouraged by Skylar. The way these two athletes supported each other was swoon-worthy. Robbie is immediately smitten with Skylar not because of her beauty (although that's part of it), but by her fierce attitude and athleticism.
"Her scowl made him wonder how much a bouquet of long-stem roses cost."
Unfortunately for him, he makes a terrible first impression and has to prove to Skylar that he's not the sleazy guy she first assumed. They embark on a fake-dating adventure at her family's yearly outdoors competition, where Skylar feels intense pressure to be at the top of her game and wants to impress her long-time crush (brother's best friend). Her family doesn't exactly do congratulations -- more like, ok you did that what's next? Robbie sees this, sees HER, and goes out of his way to make her feel loved. These two bring out the best in each other and are so sweet, but their flirty banter never lets up. Add in his teammates and her family and friends, and it's an incredible cast of characters. Additional books are certainly teased that look promising (if not heartwrenching).
Skylar is also a bit inexperienced, and the way Robbie approaches 'teaching' Skylar is incredibly hot.
I love this universe and can't wait to spend more time in it!

idk what Tessa laced this book with, but i could NOT put it down!! i had an absolute BLAST with this one!!!
i giggled through the entire book and am actually upset i read it so fast and now it’s over🥲
i freaking love skylar and robbie and their playful dynamic + banter!
the fake dating x dating lessons setup combined with robbie’s straight up ✨yearning✨ was absolute perfection. he is SO down bad!!! but i also loved that we got to see his character development and how he came into himself to be someone that he could be proud of and the person he always wanted to be.
and ugh the way he stood up for skylar!! how he shows her that she deserves to be loved just the way she is😭 and that she doesn’t need to excel at something for anyone to be proud of her. skylar is so strong and she deserves that feeling and a safe place to land so much😭
seriously, i just adore them! this quickly has become my favorite book of this series and i already can’t wait to reread via audiobook!
thank you thank you Avon & Netgalley for this ARC!! 😚😚😚

"First impressions never have a second chance."
Robbie and Skylar's love story proves that (the above) is so not the case.
He manages to prove by both action (see: BU memorabilia, using his noggin to participate despite fear) and word that he is more than what she initially overheard. But it takes two to tango. The author shows Skylar becoming more receptive to Robbie's overtures as the story progresses.
This is the 4th in the sports series and the dual POV is balanced nicely as the author skillfully builds their hereto (ok, one sided) antagonistic relationship to one that the reader finds believable. Then there's their nicknames (never overused as I find in other books by other authors) for each other which only enhances their banter.
The ending (won't spoil it) will leave the reader with a smile on their face (heartwarming with a touch of humor).

This was the perfect read for me when I picked it up. I was looking for something light-hearted, fun and spicy, and this book did not disappoint at all!
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Robbie after his antics in some of the previous books, but when Skylar calls him out on his shit at the very beginning, my reservations pretty much evaporated. Robbie's development throughout this book was incredible and it was amazing to see all the ways he showed he cared for Skylar. He brought so much golden retriever energy and was the perfect balance to Skylar's more type A personality. This might be one of the spiciest Tessa Bailey books I have read so you've been warned!! The only note I would give was I found the foreboding at the end of some chapters to be a little much. I understand having an instance of foreboding when things are about to go wrong, but it happened at the end of multiple chapters and I thought it was a little overdone. Despite that though, Pitcher Perfect might be one of my favorite Tessa Bailey books now!

essa Bailey proves once again she's the queen of sizzling romance in Pitcher Perfect. With electric chemistry, laugh-out-loud banter, and a fake-dating setup that delivers, Robbie and Skylar’s enemies-to-lovers journey is pure fun. The sports backdrop adds energy, and the emotional depth gives the steam real heart. A fiery, feel-good read.
Thank you NetGalley for an arc of Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey

I normally love Tessa Bailey, but for some reason, I just couldn’t get into this book. It was giving young adult romance, and felt too cheesy for me.

3.75 ⭐️(rounded up to 4)
This was quintessentially Tessa Bailey. ESPECIALLY when it came to the spice! Absolutely delicious and I loved the tension building up between Robbie and Skylar before they eventually got together.
I considered this to be a very fun, easy read that I binged in about a day and a half. I really enjoyed the chemistry and banter between the two (I’m a sucker for cute nicknames, especially what Robbie calls Skylar). However, this was labeled as being an “enemies-to-lovers,” and I feel that there was little to no hate between the two. More so a "rivals-to-lovers" that quickly turns into insta-love/he falls first.
Which is perfectly fine, but it threw me off a bit when I went in expecting more of a drawn-out underlying tension between the two. I also wished there was a liiiiittle bit more character development between important side characters, like Madden who was the whole reason behind Skylar and Robbie fake-dating in the first place.
Overall, this was a fun and steamy, quick read that I think would be a great palate cleanser. Fans of the Big Shots series as a whole will definitely enjoy this.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager for the e-ARC!

I picked this book up at the right time. I laughed so hard and I really needed it. This is my favorite so far out of the Big Shots series. Robbie and Skylar were a match made in enemies to friends to lovers instalove heaven.
If you don’t immediately remember Robbie from books 1-3, he’s one half of the Orgasm Donor twin rookies. He doesn’t stop being ridiculous, but his character fleshes out into hidden depths as the story moves forward. Skylar is Elton’s little sister (the baseball guy that made a move on Chloe) and a D1 softball player for Boston University.
I loved Robbie’s heart and lack of cynicism. He’s not an angsty, brooding hero. He’s the human personification of an excited squeal. He fanboys over his hockey heroes, has a really gross love of Stouffer’s Lasagna, and is hardcore loyal. When he falls in love, he’s all in- and he’ll take any in he can get. Even if it means pretending to be his new crush’s date to a family event to help her make another guy jealous.
He actually reminds me a little of Deadpool- with the crack hilarity, internal narrative, and the intensity of his goal chasing lol.
Skylar is a badass bitch. Her first words to Robbie are, “Fuck you.” (To his delight.) She’s been playing with the boys all her life and grew up in a hella competitive family. She doesn’t take any shit. So when this tool who was openly bragging about the night before’s conquests starts to hit on her- she’s not having any of it. And omg, the way she shuts him out! I was cracking up so hard. (“Cannibalism,” will absolutely be my next way to shut down a badly aimed, “So what are you into?” in the future.)
In the middle of a coffee/OJ date with Robbie to make good on a bet she lost, Skylar learns that her partner for her family’s yearly version of Strong Man can’t make it. The only solution? To take home this near stranger and let him pretend to be her boyfriend.
Totally sane, right?
It doesn’t matter. Read it anyways. You’ll laugh a lot and have to fan yourself more than a couple of times. 🔥🔥🔥🧯

I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Pitcher Perfect, the latest book in Tessa Bailey’s Big Shots series. I was expecting to read about a male baseball player main character, following the other male athlete main characters in this series. To my surprise, both main characters in this story are athletes, and the “pitcher” in this story is Skylar, an accomplished college softball pitcher. The premise of this book and so many parts of it are very funny. In the preceding book, Dream Girl Drama, we meet the characters of this book at an impromptu baseball game between the Boston Bearcats and a group of semi-professional and college baseball players.
Pitcher Perfect starts at the baseball game, and I love how Robbie is blown away by Skylar, who is less than impressed by him. Robbie bets Skylar that if he gets on base, he wins a coffee date with her. During that date, Skylar invites Robbie to be her last-minute replacement partner in a family wilderness challenge. Robbie agrees and offers to also be Skylar’s dating coach to help her win over her longtime crush Madden.
This plan is obviously a bad idea for Robbie, who is very interested in Skylar. Skylar is intrigued by Robbie, but focused on showing Madden that she is not just one of the guys. While their first interaction is not exactly friendly, Robbie and Skylar soon realize how much they are alike. Time spent together is easy and relaxing, and they soon find themselves confiding in each other, and very very attracted to each other. Their banter is over-the-top hilarious. Robbie goes all out to irritate Skylar, and the tension builds so much between them. Their kindness to each other and competitive natures diffuse the tension and show the reader what a perfect match they are for each other. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times while reading this book.
Robbie and Skylar are a great match in Skylar’s family competition, and as they spend more time together, it’s apparent that they are falling in love. Their physical connection is super steamy. I loved the enemies-to-lovers vibe they have, and really enjoyed their vulnerability and support of each other. Robbie stands up for Skylar to her family, and he even rescues her during the competition when she starts to drown during a swimming event.
Robbie and Skylar end up being a great match, but I loved seeing how hard Robbie worked to win Skylar over throughout the book. I’ve really enjoyed Robbie & Mailer’s characters in other books in the series, so this was an unexpected role for Robbie: the devoted and smitten boyfriend. In many ways, this couple really brought out the best of each other.
I’ve read most of Tessa Bailey’s books, and enjoyed some more than others. This series, and the books about the Bearcats, are some of her best work. They have so much humor, swoon-worthy moments, steamy love scenes and great characters overall. I loved the opportunity to read all the books in this series, and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Bailey comes up with in the future.
Thank you to Tessa Bailey, Avon Harper Voyager and NetGalley for this advance reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I say this everything, but Tessa Bailey is unmatched in her craft foe the romantic comedy. She is the book versions of romantic comedies from the Golden age of romcom movies. I love her wit and banter between her mmcs. Her spice is tip tier, and she always crafts a charming and swoon worthy story. She's such a talent and this series as a whole has been a home run, pun intended.

Another very typical Tessa Bailey. If you like Tessa books, you’ll enjoy this. If you don’t, you won’t. As always it’s a trashy romance with minimal plot. Easy, quick read. Humor. Exactly what you’d expect from Tessa. And I liked this couple, unlike the previous book in this series.
Skylar is a college softball pitcher and too focussed on sports to have a love life. Robbie is a professional hockey player and a professional man whore. Skylar needs a partner for her families annual games - swimming, rock climbing, etc. and she also needs to make her brothers best friend jealous. Robbie the man whore steps up for both jobs.
Fake dating, family competition event, hockey, softball.
Thank you Tessa Bailey, Harper Collins, and netgalley for the advanced copy!!

Huge thanks to Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC via NetGalley!
I have really enjoyed this series. I was so excited to read this book finally!
Ok, so Robbie was actually not that bad. He came off as a womanizer and very immature in the previous book so I was looking forward to this book.
I personally loved this book! I loved the banter between Robbie and Skylar. From enemies to lovers. It was cute.
Make sure to read the previous books though!
I hope Tessa continues to write about the other characters!

This was a light and fun read. I enjoyed the competitive games that Skylar's family participated in, since they were so quirky and out there. However, the timeline felt too quick in this story to be realistic between Skylar and Robbie's first meeting and falling for each other.

Tessa Bailey knocks it out of the park with Pitcher Perfect, a steamy, banter-filled romance that draws inspiration from the surge of recognition female athletes like Ilona Maher and Caitlin Clark are finally receiving. True to Bailey’s signature style, this book delivers both sizzling chemistry and laugh-out-loud moments.
At the heart of the story is the unforgettable dynamic between “Redbeard” and “Rocket,” whose witty back-and-forth and undeniable tension make them standouts in a cast full of lively characters. Their banter alone sets this book apart, keeping the energy high and the pages turning.
As expected from a Tessa Bailey novel, the spice level is a solid 5 out of 5 — passionate, bold, and unapologetically fun. But beyond the heat, there’s also a sense of celebration for athleticism and the empowered women at the center of the story.
I’d highly recommend Pitcher Perfect to readers who love athlete tropes, fiery romance, and sharp dialogue. It’s a fast-paced, flirty read that delivers everything you’d want in a sports romance — and then some.
I was invited to read by the publisher, through NetGalley, for an honest review. This book will be published on September 9, 2025.

This was an ARC from NetGalley. Tessa Bailey is an automatic read for me. She has been for years. Rocket & Redbeard prove why this is true. An enjoyable read, some spicy times, value of communication, and family are all reasons to grab this book.
