LOVE LOVE LOVE. This book was SO good! Just so entertaining and heartfelt. These characters had me giggling and loving their friendship and have me now on the edge of my seat waiting for book five. Such good tropes together: fake-dating trope, enemies-to-lovers, and sports romance (hockey & softball). This is one of the first books that I truly felt connected to the characters and I loved how much Robbie adored Skylar. The bond between them and the family was truly special and well portrayed.

A huge thanks to Avon and Netgalley for providing me with this arc! Starting out this book I was led to believe a romance would happen with a different character, and that just didn’t happen. I’m not upset about that not happening, however I was excited for the kind of romance I thought it would be. With that being said I hope that other side character gets their own story. I liked Skylar as a character, but I wish we had the chance to dive more into her softball career (because that’s a sport hardly written about). It would’ve been fun to read about her BU softball experience more. For me there was a couple plot holes that I would have liked explained or discovered, but also I did enjoy this one mostly. Spicy stuff isn’t necessarily my cup of tea, so I’m glad I was able to skip past parts and not feel like going past it meant skipping crucial plot points.

Thank you Netgalley and Avon/Harper Voyager for letting me read Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey. I loved this book, it’s by far my favorite in the series so far!

I flew through this. The banter, the pining, the legit willingness to communicate. This was such a fun fake-dating, both athletes, only one bed, sports romance. I fully expected Robbie to be as obnoxious as Skylar thought he was, and then he becomes so endearing, and basically, you'll fall for him alongside Skylar.
Loved the interaction with his teammates, both when they're giving advice, and when he finally calls them out, loved his support of Skylar to her family, and thoroughly enjoyed the "lessons". I could see from a mile away that Madden was into Eve though, poor Skylar for missing that one.
Overall 4.5 stars!

I liked the idea behind the plot, it just didn't go even close to how I expected. How are you going to call something enemies-to-lovers where the characters are together in less than a week? Even if it wasn't insta-love, they were still never actually even enemies. This is probably one of the fastest insta-love books I've read, it's almost a little jarring.
How are we supposed to believe that this man who was talking so disgustingly about women when we first meet him decides he's in love immediately and going to change his ways simply because he met Skylar. And ok sure, let's go with that, but he shows zero growth or remorse for how he previously was. There is no accountability.
This can barely even be called a sports romance. I'm not sure Tessa Bailey even knew where she was going when she wrote this, it's tropes apon tropes, all over the place and just being shoved in the book. This really felt like a deadline book that was forced out.
Who even is Madden besides being there to possibly provide a character for the next book?
All that being said, it is a quick and easy read and some of the banter is fun.

Thank you Tessa Bailey, NetGally and Avon and Harper Voyager for the advanced reader copy of Pitcher Perfect (09/09/2025). Tessa came to slay with this book! I have am a long time Tessa Bailey fan, and this book is such a redemption for her! Skylar, a softball player, meets Robbie, a hockey player, at a not so friendly baseball game. From there, their relationship takes off as Robbie pretends to be Skylar's boyfriend and acts as her teammate in her family’s week long games. all as a ploy to make her brothers best friend jealous. I loved that Robbie always had Skylar’s back and was willing to go above and beyond for her. Along the way Robbie falls for Skylar and while teaching Skylar a thing or two about relationships, she falls too. The family dynamics were a nice plot point, with them all finding understanding and acceptance. Overall, this book was on par with some of her earlier books and I loved it!

I want to start by thanking the author and publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced release copy of this book. Tessa Bailey doesn't miss!! Huge hit!

As someone who is thoroughly obsessed with Tessa Bailey's writing and characters, I was a bit disappointed by this one. I loved the FMC in the beginning but I felt like there was no continuity with her character. She is supposed to be this badass D1 pitcher who mouths off cocky hockey players, but it turns out that she is more meek and insecure than she seems. I really liked Redbeard AKA the MMC but the third act "breakup" killed me. Like what are we so upset about? It's giving... Roy Kent being upset that Keeley has had relationships before agreeing to date him. I thought we were over that? I know TB loves a third act breakup, but their reason for fighting made me upset. This was my 15th TB book and unfortunately, it was not for me! But I think if you love an interesting dynamic between family members and instalove, this will be the one for you!

I would first like to thank NetGalley and Avon & Harper Voyager for this EARC.
4.25/5⭐️
Pitcher Perfect picks up right from the baseball scene in Dream Girl Drama. Fake Dating, he falls first, overly competitive family, nicknames.
Robbie corrigan is the NHL rookie playboy for the Boston Bearcats and Skyler Paige is a super focused A type personality D1 softball pitcher who is obsessed with her planner.
Skyler has been in love with her brother’s best friend forever and when Skyler’s teammate Eve can’t make it to the annual Paige Stakes, a highly competitive family event, Robbie offers to be her teammate and fake boyfriend/ dating teacher for the week to get the brother best friend. Over the Paige stakes Robbie falls harder for her and Skyler falls for him over the small things.
This was just an all around fun sports romance and the way Robbie falls for Skyler is so cute. He always sticks up for her around her family this book will have you smiling.

This is probably my favorite of the series, hands down. I felt a strong connection with these characters and loved the aspects of working through love, baggage, and figuring out what your feelings mean. I cannot recommend this book enough, to everyone around me! 10/10 cannot wait to read the rest of this series!

I have no idea what Tessa Bailey has put in this book series but every single book in the series is like crack. I inhale them. They are quick and easy reads that have you hooked from the very beginning and Pitcher Perfect was no exception!
In this 3rd person romance story, you follow NHL Hockey Rookie Robbie Corrigan and College All-American Softball Pitcher Skylar Page, two athletic powerhouses who meet by chance during an impromptu baseball game. Skylar immediately is turned off by Robbie’s playboy reputation and banter, but doesn’t totally dismiss his advances when her long time crush is watching from the sidelines. In a series of events, Robbie is pulled into a whirlwind weekend with Skylar’s family in a last ditch effort to make said crush jealous, and Robbie’s just there because…. He may actually be falling for this girl?
I won’t give anymore away but bottom line, I loved this book and I already have it pre-ordered. If you don’t have Pitcher Perfect already on Pre-order then what are you doing?! Overall, obsessed with Robbie and Skylar, their love story and their character development. A+ to Tessa yet again.

*Thank you to NetGalley for the Advanced Readers E-proof and for putting this heart-melting book in my possession. It was a welcome gift for someone whose been deprived of a 5-Star read 🫶

This was so much fun. I thought the characters were really sweet and had a ton of chemistry. The idea of a family competition made for interesting dynamics and an entertaining backdrop to Skylar and Robbie's romance. I do love a reformed player trope and I loved that Robbie was all-in so early. If you don't like insta-love, this book might not be the one for you. But this was just all all around good time to me.

I absolutely LOVED this enemies to lovers novel about rookie hockey player Robbie & all star softball pitcher Skylar. We were introduced to the pair in Dream Girl Drama and I just knew I was going to love learning more about their story. Tessa Bailey did not disappoint! This novel includes fake dating, forced proximity with ONE BED and he falls first tropes that had the sparks flying from the very first "F*** you" 😂 The dialogue felt so natural between characters and the conflict was realistic, which is sometimes hard in a romance for me where the characters are in their early 20s.
This is a dual POV novel which I love for my romances to hear the internal thoughts of each characters. But once again the chapters are not clearly labeled 🤦♀️ So I was always having to search for context clues about who's chapter is was 🤨 No matter how amazing a novel is this missed detail will forever annoy me #sorrynotsorry 🤣
Skylar & Robbie are characters you can absolutely fall in love with. Skylar is a confident and hard working athlete who lifts others up in her life but struggled with her self worth in the eyes of her family 💔 I thought Tessa Bailey handled this topic with care and respect while also building a beautiful story of growth for Skylar. The relationship between the two main characters felt natural and beautiful, I loved how they supported each other and grew together ❤️ I felt there was a lack of supportive friendships in this novel that I usually enjoy seeing in a romance but otherwise I loved this rom com.
Thank you Avon for the ARC

This series is so fun and spicy! I think this is my favorite so far. Skylar and Robbie have so much amazing chemistry and fun banter that the pages turned themselves. Kicking my feet giggling to screaming no whenever Skylar seemed too guarded. This would be perfect for summer poolside or waiting in between my kids baseball games.

3.5 stars. I was looking for something fun and light to read and Pitcher Perfect delivered. It starts off during the timeline of the previous book in this series, Dream Girl Drama. We return to the baseball vs. hockey bro game from that book as Robbie and Skylar butt heads over Robbie's unsavory comments. He needed to be put in his place in my opinion and Skylar was happy to do so. From there, Robbie and Skylar jump into a fake dating plot to help Skylar land her long time crush.
I really enjoyed Skylar and Robbie's dynamic throughout the book. They really brought out the best in each other and helped one another grow into the best version of themselves. I connected with Skylar's insecurities and enjoyed that her personality was never made fun of but rather appreciated. Her type A fierceness was perfectly balanced with Robbie's charm and humor. I'm also a sucker for spicy teach me moments and I loved how Robbie jumped right into Skylar's plan. They had sizzling chemistry in that department! Robbie is pure sunshine silliness but also grounds Skylar and is able to help her navigate tough moments with her family. Robbie realizes his affections for Skylar early on and fights to understand, appreciate, and ultimately love her. I melted when he said: "Consider me, Skylar." While I was very annoyed with how Skylar's family treated her at the beginning, I really respected how when presented with how she feels, they were able to see the errors of their ways and change course.
While I enjoyed many aspects of this book, I had trouble believing that Skylar and Robbie would fall in love so quickly. They are both very young and have a lot of life left to live and experience. In this timeline, only 13 days earlier Robbie was a modern rake cavorting around town without a thought in his head about settling down. He shows Skylar how much he wants to be with her, but it is still very insta-love. There wasn't enough relationship development for me to truly be sold on their love. Also, if Skylar has been pining over her brother's best friend for years, it doesn't seem to me that she would change course so easily. I needed more angst in that department. In addition, from a professional athlete standpoint, there is no way any NHL hockey player would consent to participate in games that could injure him one week before playoffs.
Overall, Pitcher Perfect brings the heat and chemistry while also providing tender moments that celebrate self-discovery and the beauty of finding someone that truly understands and appreciates you for who you are.

Robbie Redbeard Corrigan, you are one of a kind. The fourth in the Big Shots series and I think my favorite MMC yet (I may be partial to redheads). While I am not typically a sports romance lover, I have loved this series so much. I really enjoyed the FMC, Skylar being an athlete too and I loved her competitive streak.
We have your classic case of fake dating, he falls first, playboy turned into softie for his woman, with the best playful banter thrown in. Robbie was hysterical and flirty and I loved his playfulness that juxtaposed with the cutthroat competition him and Skylar were competing in with her family.
I thought the pacing of the plot was done well and the characters were likeable yet flawed which made me interested in their story. I think the emotions both Skylar and Robbie were feeling throughout their developing relationship were valid handled with care by one another. Everything about this was fun and cute and I did not want to put it down.

I was so excited to get an ARC of this book! I've read quite a few of Tessa Bailey's books now so I know what to expect. I love her quirky characters, humor, and the general ease and pace of her books. As someone who lives on Long Island I always enjoy those references! This book was so sweet. The chemistry between Robbie and Skylar was great, and the when the spice hit it was 🔥🔥🔥. I deducted a star because it was a little too insta-lovey for me, and the page stakes were a bit ridiculous. I also wanted more about what ended up happening with Madden!

Title: Pitcher Perfect
Author: Tessa Bailey
Format: E-Book Netgalley
Spice Level: 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️.5/5
Rating: 📚📚📚.5/5
--Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins for the early access--
Pitcher Perfect is a continuation story from Dream Girl Drama and follows Robbie, a Bearcats player, and Skylar, a baseball pitcher. The last time we saw them, Robbie was boasting about his bedroom exploits and Skylar was giving him crap for it. The two strike a deal where Robbie will help Skylar in her romantic quest to snag her longtime friend in an effort to change his impression in Skylar's mind. But will they just stay friends?
Pitcher Perfect is a big step up from the previous book in the series. I actually liked these characters and was rooting for them to make it. Does Robbie have a lot of flags? Sure. Did I think he was honestly trying to be better? Yeah. Skylar is a bit "naive" and could be annoying, but anyone is better than Chloe. But did I believe Skylar's lack of "skills"? No. That part was definitely not believable. "I don't know how to woo a guy" and yet everything she does is perfect. Come on.
I did appreciate how the two of them had to actually work through some of their issues instead of everything just magically being ok. I also appreciated more of HIS point of view in the story vs the woman's. He was the one that fell first and it was a welcome surprise to have what seemed to be the majority of the story from a male perspective. Not enough authors write the male view in general.
Overall, I really liked this book. It was a good palate cleanser from some of my other book choices and it made me laugh many times. I would recommend it to romance fans.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 OH. MY. GOSH. I just finished Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey and I am absolutely GIDDY! Someone come pry this book out of my hands because I’m about to start rereading it already. 😍
Skylar and Robbie??? CUTEST. COUPLE. EVER. I was smiling like a fool through half the book and blushing through the other half because the spice??? It was SPICY. 🔥 Tessa Bailey really served us heat AND heart on a silver platter with this one!
Now let’s talk tropes, because this book had some of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES:
• Fake Dating (YES PLEASE 🙌)
• He Falls First (and HARD — my man Robbie was down bad from the jump 🥹)
• Protective MMC (Robbie is peak overprotective softie who would fight a bear for her energy and I LIVED for it 💪❤️)
But beyond all the swoons and steam, what really got me was the emotional growth. Skylar and Robbie both had insecurities and baggage, and watching them work through that — individually and together — was so beautiful. They made each other better in all the right ways. 💖
This is, without question, the best book in the series so far. I laughed, I got teary, I clutched my Kindle to my chest and squealed like a teenager. If you love romance that brings the butterflies, the banter, the burn, AND the feelings, run — don’t walk — to get this book!

The plot for this one was fun, I liked the fact that she was seemingly in love with someone else. It flowed well, but it is very fast burn.
