This book isn’t a baseball romance. The male main character is a hockey player. The female main character used to be a softball player. So like this book is marketed weird. Like all Tessa Bailey books the smut was cringy. This book wasn’t for me. At this point, though I would be more shocked if I like to test a daily book because I have not liked a book by her in a long time and I’ve read most of her books.

Absolutely loved this book! I'm so glad that Tessa brought back a female lead that has witty comebacks, her own sports knowledge and backbone (did NOT like Chloe from Dream Girl Drama) This has fun friends to lovers, fake dating tropes and so loved seeing one of the Orgasm Donors find their match. PLEASE Tessa keep the strong female leads to match with these hockey boys!

3.5 stars rounded up

Tessa has find it again - it was refreshing to read about a strong female character growing up as an athlete and the mindset that can come with it. I appreciated the balance between Skylar wanting to be strong mentally and physical while also navigating wanting to lean into her more “beautiful/girly” side. Robbie allowing her the space to grow into both warmed my heart.

I have read and loved all of Tessa Bailey’s books, so I’m so glad I got to read this as an ARC, so thank you to her and to NetGalley! I love the he falls first trope, and this one happened so fast for Robbie. Maybe a little too fast, but I believed it. He couldn’t help falling for Skylar, who made him want to be better. I always appreciate the dual POV so it helped me believe in him and how much he liked her. I can relate with him and how the loss of a grandparent can have a lasting impact on the person you want to be. So seeing him want to b3 better for his grandfather and for Skylar felt genuine.
I always love the spice in her books, and this book didn’t disappoint! Their connection with each other made it that much hotter, especially with him giving her lessons. I’ve enjoyed this series and can’t wait to read the next one!

This story is fourth in the Big Shots Series, but can be read as a standalone. While introduced in book 3, this story picks up and gives more details on the meeting between Skylar and Robbie at the baseball game. After making a bet during the game, Robbie proposes that he acts as Skylar’s boyfriend during a week long family competition to help make Skylar’s crush jealous. Problem is, it was love at first sight for Robbie who decides to try to win Skylar for himself. Although introduced as a young, dumb, party f-boy in previous books, Robbie was a very likable character and showed a bit of depth. My problem was with Skylar. Her personality was baseball/softball. There really wasn’t much else to her and I found her a bit boring. Robbie does all of the heavy lifting in this book. You will need to suspend disbelief some if you are a sports fan: the timing of sports events doesn’t match up. Additionally, she’s a college student, but you wouldn’t really know it. This is open door, per usual with any Tessa Bailey book. However, I thought it would have been spicier given Robbie’s history. This is still worth a read, but maybe a library rental.

Thank you, Avon and Harper Voyager, for providing this book for review consideration through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

The first 85% was an absolute masterclass is how to write sports romance, fake dating, and the ex playboy tropes. It was everything. The chemistry was off the charts, the feet kicking and giggling moments were all absolutely there. I loved the family even with their flaws, they felt so real as did the rest of the characters. I felt as though I was right there which is what you really want with a great romance like this.

Robbie has the biggest heart and really gets that out on the page. He's an amazing romance hero with the most earnest character arc. Sky's fantastic too, they both complement each other beautifully and seeing how they grew together was so much fun.

The reason I docked a star is because that third act break-up was a no from me. It felt thrown in to add extra angst and I just wasn't feeling it. I saw the logic, I saw the emotion and how it should have made sense but it just didn't quite nail it or fit for me.

10/10 highly recommend.

This is a fun read. I read it in one sitting. The dialogue / banter between the characters kept me engaged because it is very funny, yet comes across as sincere. The meet up is fun and the family dynamics believable although in a somewhat comedy movie type of way. The spice level was good and included in the right places.

I think this might be my new fave Tessa Bailey book??? Or it’s tied with Au Pair Affair.

Fake dating + lessons??? Literally my favorite tropes ever and miss Tessa Bailey did not disappoint.

I don’t know how she could turn someone so unlikeable from her previous books into the perfect human man but I am obsessed and that is that on character growth!! Comparing him to sig who I like to read about in a book, but could never actually deal with in real life, Robbie was much more realistic.

I also love Skylar she’s so strong and real and flawed and her relationships with her family and friends were interesting as well and also actually contributed to her growth and the relationship growth with Robbie.

Spice was spicing.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC.

Tessa Bailey is a very hit or miss author for me and lately it's been a lot more missed than hits.

This book just made me angry, Robbie acted like an absolute douche and it shouldn't be women's responsibility to teach men to respect women. Him taking her feedback and improving is the bare fucking minimum, not something to be praised for.

If you like Tessa Bailey you'll probably like this, but it wasn't for me.

I really enjoyed this book! Tessa Bailey has such a great rom-com voice, and Pitcher Perfect is no exception. Watching the relationship unfold was heartwarming, swoon worthy, and HOT. It was an unexpected joy to also watch the FMC explore how to be authentic with her family. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the MMC calling the FMC “college girl” at one point. They’re close in age, so it’s clearly not a real issue, it just is a personal preference!

Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey is a charming, fast-paced sports romance that blends fake dating, opposites attract, and a touch of enemies-to-lovers energy into a whirlwind love story. Skylar, a fiercely driven softball pitcher, and Robbie, a rookie NHL player with a cocky streak, find themselves teaming up for a week-long family competition- leading to unexpected chemistry and deeper feelings. As always, Bailey’s signature wit and steamy scenes deliver, making this a delightful addition to the Big Shots series. Robbie’s journey from playboy to a devoted partner is heartwarming, while Skylar’s growth and newfound confidence make the romance feel earned. A perfect pick for fans of playful banter, fake relationships, and sports romance with heart.

Thank you to Tessa Bailey, Avon and Harper Voyager for the eARC!

4.5! I have LOVED this series from Tessa. They are perfect blends of swoony and spicy with MMCs that are secretly sweet when it comes to their person. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan about was that they fell in love over the course of a week. It was just a bit too fast and unbelievable, but I love how they compete against each other and how Sky never let Robbie win in their battle of wits. Seeing Robbie get sucker punched by emotions and love and just be obsessed with Sky was really really sweet.

This was super sweet. I love how he stood up for her. Their nicknames for each other. They way he was so patient with her and helped her without making her feel bad for herself. I love their friends and family. Its just a feel good type of series.

This book was so good, I finished it within three hours! I loved that the characters were flawed and honest. I wish there was more backstory from Robbie. This felt more like a Tessa Bailey book than in recent books!

I adore anything Tessa writes. This book did seem a bit more outrageous than the others i’ve read, but overall a good time. If you know her writing style and how she tells stories then you’ll love it!

When I read my ARC of Dream Girl Drama back in November of last year, I remember specifically saying I hoped we got books for the Orgasm Donors™ and fast forward a couple months and here we are! The premise of this book being fake dating to make someone else jealous is a tale as old as time but so fun nonetheless. I absolutely loved the dynamic between Robbie and Skylar; “enemies” to lovers and sprinkle in a heavy dose of sexual tension and some competitions and you have the recipe for the perfect match. They perfectly complimented each other and were both able to learn from each other and grow as people from who they were in the beginning to the end. Character development always adds more layers to a story (especially romance) and allows for the reader to connect more with the characters and bond more of an emotional attachment with them and therefore when the “third act breakup” happens, they’re less likely to get annoyed and more likely to understand where the characters are coming from and understand their perspectives. I loved both the FMC and MMC separately as well as a couple and loved the side characters! Definitely feels like a more well rounded story than some of other TB’s works and I really commend her for constantly stepping up to the plate.

Five stars.

I have been WAITING for Corrigan to get a book for AGES now, especially after the baseball scene in Dream Girl Drama. As it turns out, his book is Lizzie McGuire what dreams are made of. I swear that Tessa’s Bailey writes contemporary romcoms the way some of the greatest historical romance authors write their histroms. Incredible wit and humor, men who are SIMPS and who YEARN, hilarious stakes, and unhinged sex! The combination is flawless.

I knew that Robbie Corrigan would get an incredible character arc and was not let down. Watching him be humbled and learn where he needed to make changes in his life was as funny as it was poignant. Tessa Bailey’s men are always down bad for their women, and Robbie was ready to crawl over coals for Skylar to love him back.

Speaking of Skylar, I was so happy to watch her get the family she deserved and the love she longed for. Every scene where she put Robbie in his place was perfect and I love a woman who can cut a man down and still have him drooling after her.

It’s also no secret to anyone who has been paying attention to me that I’ve longed for Mailer’s story as much as Robbie’s and NOW I need [redacted] and Eve’s book!

As always this was a fantastic time. Tessa can write a damn story and keep you hanging on until the very end.

I knew I was going to love Robbie, but I didn’t know I was going to LOVE him. And I wanted to saddle up beside him to ride into battle for Skylar because I adored her too. The two of them just *fit* together.

The initial meeting between Robbie and Skylar was set up in Dream Girl Drama, and I loved getting to see it from their perspective in this one. Robbie defined the “he falls first, fast, and hard” lightning strike moment, something Tessa Bailey does so well. What I loved most about how that played out with Robbie was that meeting Skylar inherently changed him, or rather put him back on track to the kind of man he was raised to and wanted to be. Robbie had a past, and I loved the way it was handled from his perspective in that it was acknowledged, but from the moment he met Skylar she was it for him. She was a wake-up call for him, and he rose to the occasion. (In more ways than one because this is a Tessa Bailey book, but we’ll get there.)

Skylar was a firecracker, but also someone who struggled to find her place and her voice among in her family. She was such a standout, yet often made to feel like no matter how hard she tried or how much she achieved, it was never quite up to par with the family expectations. The idea of Robbie helping her make Madden jealous to ultimately win his affections might now have worked for me if it hadn’t been so clear that that was at best simply the idea of Madden that she was really in love with. The spark between Skylar and Robbie was present from the first moment, despite Skylar’s reluctance. It quickly became clear that Robbie was exactly the kind of man who would elevate her, see her, and give her all the affection and love in the way she needed and craved.

It wouldn’t be a Tessa Bailey book if some of those needs weren’t of the steamy variety. Robbie was cocky for a reason because the man knows how to deliver. And when matched with a partner who cared about her needs and her desires, Skylar flourished in her own right when it came to meeting him move for move. It was more of a slow burn to get down to it, and it worked so well for the story to play out that way with the two of them.

I know I’m forgetting things I wanted to comment on but this is already super long. I just really loved this one. I laughed at the banter, I swooned at the romance. I had a ton of fun reading. Thank you to Avon via NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
