This book is not for me. I only got two chapters in but the arrogance of the male characters in this book was extremely off putting.

didn't love it, but tessa singlehandedly got me interested in hockey and sports romances with this series. honestly hate the trope of playboy and inexperienced girl, so i kinda knew this wouldn't exactly be my cup of tea.

a bit corny, a bit cringe, but i still ate it up in 24 hours!! tessa's books are always fun and smutty if nothing else. please see below for some of the most unhinged lines that will live with me forever:

also the whole eve storyline was so eyeroll and strange and obviously setting up the next book for madden and eve with the tropes all laid out and everything and the book after that for reese and mailer. that being said, will i be reading those the second they come out? 1000%.

I’m a sucker for a good Tessa Bailey book. To say I was excited for this is an understatement. Thankfully the ARC gods answered because I loved every minute of Pitcher Perfect!

This book had me smiling and giggling the whole way through. As soon as we met Robbie & Skylar in the last book in the series, Dream Girl Drama, I knew their story was going to be good. So PS friends please read that book first before tackling this one. Anyway back to Robbie & Skylar. I love that they both come from sports backgrounds. Especially Skylar our MFC. I related so much to Skylar. Growing up and feeling like you’re failing because your sibling was achieving more in their sport. Then we have Robbie. I freaking love that man. He is quite literally the definition of cinnamon roll golden retriever. Him going from playboy to committed relationship man just for Skylar was 100% swoon worthy.

I also love that Tessa gave us not one but two of my favorite tropes enemies to lovers and fake dating. I usually don’t like when authors try to incorporate both. But the way Tessa incorporated it genuinely worked and made the story flow really well.

My only complaint comes from the ending. Y’all know of my hatred of the third act breakup trope. This book is no exception. I wish they had just talked it out. And the drama surrounding it felt a little rushed and unnecessary. However, even though it happened I still throughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be buying a trophy copy.

Overall, if you can’t already tell I highly recommend this book. Lastly big thank you to NetGalley & Avon for providing an arc to read and review!

Typical Tessa Bailey! Usually her books are hit or miss for me but I really enjoyed this one. This is the perfect beach read, you can definitely read it in one sitting and not be bored.

I love the Big Shots series and was super excited to get my hands on Pitcher Perfect! I was super excited that this book was about Robbie because we got to see so much more than just the Orgasm Donor. I liked this book a lot more than Dream Girl Drama. I really liked how the characters grow and change throughout the book. I couldn’t put it down. The character development of Skylar’s family really added to the book.

This is the first book I have ever read by Tessa Bailey, and let me just say I get the hype. I devoured this book, 2 days is all it took for me to finish this. I don't know why this book hit so close to home for me maybe because I played softball growing up, or the fact that I was a tom boy as well. But I felt a deep connection to Skyler. This book to me was fantastic just as it is. Everyone needs to read it. It also could be that I love a good hockey/sports romance as well.
I gave this book 4.5 stars.

If you liked the other three books in this series, or any Tessa Bailey book really, you’ll love Pitcher Perfect. It’s a classic Tessa Bailey romcom with a dirty talking hero, the best spice, and lines that make you snort laugh.

Robbie Corrigan and Skylar Page made for the perfect trope salad: fake dating, love coaching, a man obsessed, sports romance, and a sprinkle of enemies-to-lovers.

Listen, I’ve read almost every Tessa Bailey book there is, and I can pretty much tell you, formulaically, how it’s gonna go. The HEA-seeking part of me loves the lack of guessing and the guaranteed successful relationship. To me, that’s a typical romance book outline and it works for me. Is it groundbreaking? Not exactly. Should you dissect it and try to make it all make sense? Probably not. But it’s a feel-good, fun story that made me laugh and my heart flutter.

That epilogue was one of my favorites. Just… spot on to how you’d imagine them 5 years later. It had me grinning like a fool.

I will say, the timing with this one was just a bit too fast-paced. I love insta-love, it just felt like the main problem Skylar had with Robbie was his womanizing ways and he basically said “I can’t change my past - *shrug*”. Understandable to a point, however, it just felt like her trust in him and their relationship was a bit unfounded and rash after their initial meet-cute. I expected a little more groveling or at least a deep conversation. Instead it felt a little like we tiptoed around the truth. I’d love to believe a man would change just for me within a week, but… 👀

And the fact that Skylar was “in love” with Madden, her brother’s best friend, for so long just kinda gave me the ick initially. Luckily, it was clear to me what was going on behind the scenes, but it was a little off-putting at first.

Otherwise, another cute read by Tessa Bailey. Looks like Madden and Eve’s book is coming up next and I’ll definitely be checking it out!

I think each story in the Big Shots series is getting better and better! Tessa Bailey did an amazing job with Robbie and Skylar story! I knew I wanted this story when we got a glimpsed of their first meeting in Dream Girl Drama, and I LOVED that the story started with that interaction from the FMC and MMC!

I absolutely loved the growth and change Robbie went through! I love how vulnerable Robbie and Skylar were with each other, and I’m not going to lie, I absolutely love that Robbie fought for Skylar even after he knew she was pining after someone else! I can relate to that part of the story from my own personal experience.

While not my favorite book in the series, I enjoyed reading it. The characters were adorable, but would have appreciated more back story. It’s a real love at first sight and he falls first story. If you like those tropes, you enjoy this spicy sports romance.

I don’t know how she keeps making these books so good. This is absolutely my favorite series by her, hands down. Each book is an absolute delight. Robbie came out of nowhere and turned me inside out and upside down. The 0rgasm Donors were hilarious side characters in the other books, and I wasn’t sure what to expect from this story. Tessa blew all my expectations out of the water. Robbie was so endearing and ADORABLE. Sweet and romantic. Like, just made me laugh and cry. His immaturity made me not expect much from him, but then Tessa went and gave him all this depth. The writing was so beautiful and this was Tessa Bailey at her absolute best. If you like a reformed playboy who falls first and so damn down bad then read this asap. Robbie is going to knock your socks off!!!!

Tessa Bailey delivers sass and sizzle in the next book in her Big Shots series. I loved the fact that our female main character Skylar is a softball star, and of course Boston Bearcats’ own Robbie was her perfect match - even if it started with a big FU (IYKYK). A quick one-sitting read that did not disappoint, Bailey will always be an auto-add to my TBR author.

This is my first sports romance book. It was really cute and Tessa Bailey did a great job with the dual narration. Overall really cute book.

First of all, I still can't believe I got the chance to read Tessa’s book four months before its release. This truly feels like a dream come true for me. Thank you Avon and Harper Voyager for the opportunity!

This series was one of the first I started when I finally got back into reading last year, and it was also the first Tessa series I gave a shot—so it holds a very special place in my heart. Since then, I’ve also read A Vine Mess and the Bellinger Sisters series, and while the Bellinger Sisters remain my top favorite, every single book in the Big Shots series has been a solid five-star read for me. I honestly wish this series would never end.

Robbie and Skylar completely swept me off my feet—just like every other couple Tessa has written. From their very first moment together to the last, I was hooked.

Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes, and Tessa executed it flawlessly. I also really loved the whole "lesson" concept—it was such a fun addition. The chemistry between Robbie and Skylar was palpable from their very first encounter, and throughout the book, it kept a smile on my face and gave me butterflies more than once.

Both grand gestures were absolutely perfect. I also loved seeing characters from the previous two books again (Sig and Chloe are my faves!), and getting a glimpse of who might be next.

I won’t even comment on Tessa’s writing style—it’s flawless, as always.

The only downside? I have no idea how I’m going to survive the wait for the next book in this series.

Listen Tessa Bailey knows how to write a book!! Was this a good time?? YES! Am I heavily invested in these characters?? YES! This was everything I was hoping it would be and more honestly. It was FUN and cute and silly in the best ways! Robbie being an absolute SILLY SUNSHINE boy after Burgess and Sig was exactly what we needed. I also love fake dating!! Especially when the guy falls SO HARD SO FAST! And that was exactly what happened! I loved that Robbie stuck up for Skylar!!! She needed someone in her corner and she finally got it!! And they were fun and total opposites and it was so fun to see them figuring each other and themselves out together!!

Did I love every part of this? No. There was so much that didn’t really make sense logistically?? And Skylar and Robbie were presented as enemies to lovers?? But were never really enemies?? I also do not hate insta love…but this happened so fast!!! Skylar really went from being in love with her brother’s best friend to being in love with someone else in .5 seconds. Also Skylar’s family…sucks??? Like why did they act like this big happy family but keep excluding Skylar because she didn’t go to 59 same college they all went too?? WHO CARES SHE’S STILL A BADASS?? But also it was still a good time??? It still read it and enjoyed it?!!

I will keep reading Tessa Bailey books because I am heavily invested in these characters?!

This was such a fun read!! I really enjoyed this one. Tessa Bailey does such a good job of combining the romantic tension with humor. I’ll read anything Tessa Bailey writes but this is definitely one of my favorites by her. It was such a cute read! I loved Robbie and Skylar and how they grew together. This one is perfect for fans of enemies to lovers, he falls first, and fake dating.

ARC Review-

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again- if Tessa Bailey writes it, I’m gonna read it. This woman is the undefeated spicy, swoony, romcom champ. This book was everything I was hoping for it to be and more.

I was initially hesitant on reading a book entirely dedicated to a side character that we meet 2 books ago. Given who he was written to be at the time, I simply could not wrap my head around how he could plausibly be the MMC in his own book and have it be one that would fit my personal preferences for a romcom. Boy, oh boy, was I wrong. I absolutely LOVED Robbie as our MMC. Dare I say, he may be my favorite of the series so far? And I had not seen that coming what so ever. Tessa Bailey absolutely crushed it with this one. The humor, the romance, the introspection, I think I have to say that this book is my new favorite in her Big Shots series.

There seems to be a set up primed for two new different stories in the continuation of this series, and I am eagerly awaiting any information on both of those now! I was just saying to a friend that what I needed was a new Tessa Bailey book in my life, so what a delight it was to have NetGalley deliver on that need so promptly.

I absolutely ate this up. It was so well done: the 'make the other dude jealous' trope and 'teach her to be sexy' trope. I haven't seen a lot of those tropes, and I loved the spin on it in this one. I was cackling throughout the book. I loved their chemistry and the romance mixed with spice. The spice was fabulous. Well timed and executed to perfection.

The character growth for both characters was such a delight to watch it unfold. 10/10. Would recommend to all romance lovers.

I’ve read about Robbie from the other books in this series and he was a bit obnoxious, so it was nice to see a different side of him in this story. Skylar was such a fun, strong character to read about and I liked that she eventually was able to be vulnerable. I really liked both main characters and I liked them together.
