Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As a huge fan of the movies and the mini series I could not wait to dive into this read!
I love that this picks up from the mini series and you get a little background on what everyone is doing since then. Love to see that the crew is still rocking all these years later! Now HARPER....whew he is a hard to like character for me and has been since the first movie. I didnt expect anything less than what I got from him in this book (and thats not a bad thing for the read). I love that we get to see a different side of Jordan in this read...VERY RELATABLE!!! Lastly, I have to say I still love Quinten and Shelby together, while a crazy match they help add some comedic relief in this book as well. I hope that there will be more books about the different characters in the book. All in all a solid read.

The opening book of The Best Man: Unfinished Business trilogy is nothing short of phenomenal. I fell in love with these characters 26 years ago, and seeing them reunited on screen rekindled that affection. Now, with this new trilogy, I’ve fallen in love with them all over again.
From the very first page, Malcolm D. Lee and Jayne Allen deliver an engaging and heartfelt continuation of a story that has become deeply rooted in Black culture. We follow familiar, beloved characters as they navigate life’s complexities, growth, and change.
Evolution isn’t a one-time event—it’s a lifelong journey. This book beautifully captures that ongoing process. Readers will find themselves reflecting on their own paths while witnessing the transformation of characters we met over two decades ago. Their stories remain relatable and powerful, no matter where you are in life.
Salacious. Engaging. Endearing. Healing. Book one will have you laughing, crying, and introspecting—all in the best ways.

Man, I loved this book.
When I first learned that there was going to be a continuation of the Best Man in book format, I was instantly ready to read it. The movies and series have been some of my favorites, so seeing where the story could go was exciting.
For the book, we are a few years out from the end of the series, and Harper is already in some drama in the beginning. I love how he has grown as a person which is shown throughout the book.
Not to give spoilers away, but I loved the Harper and Jordan stories, and love that Malcolm and Jayne chose to really center this book around the love triangle that is Harper x Jordan x Robyn. There was a cliffhanger at the end of the book and I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. If you loved the movies/show you will love this. If you didn’t watch those truthfully though, I think you will still like this book just may not have all of the context with the characters.

Malcolm, you have done it again. Five out of five no notes. I’m not sure if you started on part two yet but I’m going to need that within the next six months that cliffhanger baby this was beautifully done and executed and I need more ASAP. I was so happy that the first book focus on Harper, Jordan and Robyn story because I felt that was the one most people wanted to know about and baby when you say unfinished business unfinished business!! we definitely got into some things in this book, I ate this up in two days and I cannot wait to see how the rest of this series plays out.

Like so many other fans, I was really excited when I heard the next chapter in The Best Man saga was going to be a book and it definitely didn’t disappoint.
If you’ve been following this group of friends, you know there’s always been some lingering tension between Harper, Robyn, and Jordan. This novel dives deeper into their dynamic, but don’t worry - we still get some great moments with Murch, Candace, Quentin (who is still hilarious btw), Shelby, and Lance too.
Harper’s living that unfulfilled bachelor life. Robyn’s in Accra, trying to reclaim her peace and purpose after pouring so much of herself into Harper. And Jordan? Still the beautiful, confident powerhouse we’ve always known, but this time we get a glimpse beneath the surface.
The book really adds depth to each character. I saw so much of myself in both Robyn and Jordan—Robyn’s journey to start showing up for herself the way she does for everyone else, and Jordan’s need to appear strong and put together being rooted in something deeper.
This group of friends feels like family at this point, and it was such a joy to reconnect with them. That ending though?! 😱 Definitely put this one on your list when it drops in July!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
