The plot of I Become Her is absolutely insane! What a rollercoaster this was, I couldn't put it down!

The beginning of this book was great, and honestly, so was the ending. Man overboard on a cruise ship?! I could read 500 pages about it. But the middle was a bit like reading three different thrillers at once, and not necessarily one that was about crimes on a cruise ship.

I was URGED to move this up on my read now list by @carriereadsthem_all , and for good reason. This is one twisty phsycological novel.
Starts out on a cruise ship with a newly married couple but the wife has her suspicions then BAM π₯ , the whole world as she knows it turns upside down. BUT WAIT....give it a few hours and it turns again!
So much built up suspense and lingering mystery, I can't read fast enough.
@joe_hart_author is one i know will never let me down, and he is definitely one of my auto-buys after this one!

thank you to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for a review
WOW! men are terrifying! :-)
this book was a TRIP!
the first 60% is a total mystery and a little
slow, youβre not sure what is reality and what Imogen is making up in her head and then once it gets to the truth this book picks up and flies by because it sucks you in and you NEED to know whatβs going to happen
i love books where you donβt know if the woman is fully connected to reality or if her instincts are right and things are truly wrong
lev is so scary. the fact that men like him exist and you can never really know who someoneβs true self is until they snap makes you never want to meet anyone new ever again
this was my first joe hart book but it probably wonβt be my last!

I like it when novels mess with my mind and this one fits the bill.
I couldnβt ascertain if it was Imogen or Lev who was the βbadβ person.
I loved it when Imogen finally unleashed on the person who needed their comeuppance.
I also thought the ending was good, well thought out and entirely believable.
Sometimes the end does justify the means.

If Joe Hart writes it, I will read it.
I was excited to pick up I Become Her as it felt more like my typical genre and not quite the horror I've come to expect with Hart. I Become Her will hit the mark for suspense fans. It kept me guessing and about halfway through, I couldn't put it down.
Some of the storyline felt familiar - a bout of amnesia after an accident, a new spouse that may not be who you believed them to be, a hidden past, secrets, and a mystery narrator. But as with other Hart novels, the execution was flawless and he walked me into a twist I never thought to see coming.
I liked that this novel took a seemingly well used idea and flipped it on its head. The use of multiple narrators and mixed timelines kept me guessing and kept the story propelling forward.
You won't get the dose of horror we've come to love and expect from Hart with I Become Her, but if you're looking for a psychological suspense that will make you question everyone and everything, look no further.
The Pulse continues to buzz about Hart's latest so don't miss out!
I Become Her releases 8/26/2025.

I absolutely loved this book!! The different characters in the book were interesting and well described. Definitely a 5* read! Well done!

suspense and thrilling elements brought this one to life. I love a good family thriller as well. I was able to enjoy the twists

Another book everyone at The Pulse is raving about. Thanks to @joe_hart_author and @thrillerbookloversthepulse for an advance copy.

I devoured this psychological thriller and I still donβt know who I trust.
β
Just ten days into their marriage, Imogen and Lev are celebrating their honeymoon when things take a dark, dangerous turn. A confrontation. A fall overboard. A miraculous rescue. But Lev remembers nothing, or so he says!
β
Back on land, Imogen tries to move forward, but paranoia creeps in fast. Who is the man she married? And what happened to the woman from his past who vanished without a trace? Each chapter had me second-guessing everyone and everything. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another reveal.
β
This book is the definition of a slow-burn suspense that explodes into full-blown WTF territory. Secrets, gaslighting, and a marriage on shaky ground. If youβre into twisty domestic suspense with unreliable characters and a ticking time bomb of a plot, add this one to your list immediately.

Imogen and new husband Lev are on a cruise for their honeymoon when he suddenly goes overboard! When he's finally found he has amnesia and can't remember anything. Imogen tries to help but is frustrated as she's not used to doing everything for her man. Then we have Sierra who feels someone is following her. How are these events connected? It's one of those crazy, convoluted novels that had me glued to my seat until the end!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

So this was a week wild ride. So many twists and turns but that's a Joe hart story for you. A definite recommend
Thank you netgalley and publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own and isn't influenced by anyone else

A wild ride of a book, filled with secrets, with lies, with betrayal. Some of the twists come with a recoil, some bring a curveball with them. Either way, expect to stay glued to the pages until you finish reading it.

OMG !!!! THIS BOOK HAS MY ENTIRE HEART!!!! Thank you @netgalley for this book and Mr. @joehart THANKYOU for this masterpiece.
This book got me out of my slum. I loved loved every aspect of it. From the beginning mystery to the unfolding of secrets. And the trauma behind those secrets and then the suspense of the chase and then the β¨οΈSATISFYINGβ¨οΈ ending.

This is a book full of lies, secrets and betrayal. There are instances of *coercive control* and *manipulation*. It is told from the POV of two women who are driven to despair by their partner/s and feeling as though there is no way out other than to run. This book is written really well and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Despite there being something of a clue in the title what transpires is still quite a surprise.

I'm a sucker for a book set on a boat, I'll just start there, throw in a mystery and I'm hooked.
I have to say this book is a wild ride, every time I thought I knew what to expect I'd turn a page and find something completely different waiting for me.
Imogen and Lev are characters that are just immersive, I was invested in their story from the very beginning and I couldn't believe how many oh my god moments were packed into one book.
I have to say I enjoyed this one and would happily read more by Joe Hart. Thank you to Thriller Book Lovers the Pulse and NetGalley for providing a copy of this e-book, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

My breath quickens, my pulse races, the hairs on the back of my neck raise, I know he is behind me. I can feel him. After this surprise ending, I have decided that anything is possible. This is a slow burn that lit a fire in my belly. Joe Hart took his time pulling you into the read. Making you want to know everything about the characters. Why they did the things they did. Making you question every character and what they knew.
Imogen and Lev have had ten days of wedded bliss. They are in Greece on a Mediterranean honeymoon. They have spent the last ten days sipping champagne, dining on fabulous foods, and taking in the sites. Imogen has a feeling that keeps tugging at the back of her mind. Lev and the waitress at the last restaurant they visited. There was something about their interaction that made Imogen question everything. When Lev falls to the ocean from their balcony. He has no memory of what happened and how he ended up in the ocean.
I do not want to say anymore and spoil this book for you. You must read this! The twist at the end was amazing and I did not see it coming. Just trust me, I discovered Joe Hart through Booksta and I am so happy I did. He is a terrific writer who can wrap the reader up in the suspense. I felt the anxiety, the tension, the chill in the air. Thank you to Joe Hart, Thriller Book Lovers The Pulse and Thomas & Mercer for my gifted copy!

This is the best book Iβve read this year. Hands down, without a doubt.
By the time I finished I Become Her my heart was beating so fast my smart watch was concerned. From the beginning, I was hooked and had to know what was going to happen next. This is one of those books that I found myself trying to unravel while I was driving or folding laundry. And I have to be honest, when that twist came⦠I was not expecting it at all!
The multiple POVs, the characters that you either love or hate, the plotβ¦ perfection. If youβre looking for an edge of your seat thrill ride. This is the book.

I'm going to rate this 2.5β since it was pretty middle of the road for me.
The beginning started strong. I thought Imogen's insecurities were going to be a lot of fun, but the mention of them kind of stopped. The first few chapters really had me hooked, but the book went in a direction around 40-50% that didn't interest me. I also struggled with the way the author portrayed the FMC. Imogen's husband would have been a better MC, and I wish there were more chapters from his POV.

From the very first page I was drawn into this tale of a honeymoon and a marriage that is not what it seems. Imogen and Lev are on their honeymoon when she suspects that he is cheating on her. When she confronts him he falls overboard and somehow survives and is rescued. Lev has no memories of the accident or the last 6 months. Imogen is worried about what will happen when he remembers. She becomes obsessed with finding out more about his past and what secrets he is keeping. The more she learns, the more she wonders if Lev is the person she thought and if she can trust him. The writing drew me in and kept me reading as the secrets were revealed. This is a psychological thriller that kept surprising me, even when I figured something out something else was revealed that took me completely by surprise. I recommend adding this psychological thriller

This was such a fun and twisty read totally the kind of book I love getting lost in! I Become Her starts off with newlyweds Imogen and Lev on a dreamy honeymoon, but things go dark fast. After a tense fight, Lev falls overboard (yep, literally), survives, and conveniently loses his memory. From there, itβs a spiral of secrets, suspicion, and some seriously shady past connections.
Imogen might be one of the unluckiest main characters Iβve read in a while. Sheβs got trust issues from a past relationship, a gaslighting husband, a terrible best friend, and a manipulative mother. Itβs like the universe lined up every toxic person possible and dropped them into her life. But watching her transformation, how she slowly becomes stronger and more self-assured was one of my favorite parts of the book.
The writing pulled me in right away, and I flew through chapters trying to piece together the mystery. I did start to suspect the twist before it hit, but it was still super satisfying and really well done. One of those reveals that makes you go, βAhhh, of course!β while still totally catching you off guard.
I gave this one 4 stars. Itβs intense, suspenseful, and really well plotted. Big thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
