I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.
This is a chilling psychological thriller. The protagonist, Nina, is taking care of her brother's apartment whilst he's away. Nina makes an observation from the balcony, and when a woman is reported missing, she realises that it may be important, but will anyone believe her?
This book played with my head, as it made me think about the observations of others. When we observe other people, we may make assumptions, or draw conclusions, based on what we have seen. I felt the storyline was realistic, in a chilling kind of way, and the characters felt real to me as well. I wasn't sure which characters to trust, if any, but they all intrigued me in some way or another.
The writing actually reminded me a little of a Ruth Rendell book, and she's a favourite author of mine. If you're looking for a thriller that will keep you guessing, give this a try.
Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

Throughout the whole book it felt more like a romance then thriller. However, it was still interesting, even though you think you know who was the psycho from the beginning. But the more you read, the more you suspect someone else - as per usual. At the end, I didn't expect the twist. With every page I was like "No, they didn't do it, they are helping her." But as it turned out, I was wrong and I was surprised with the plot twist. But to draw a line, it was an average thriller book for me, nothing special.

Keri Beevis is a master of tension, intrigue, and twists, and The House Sitter did not disappoint. When Nina.house sits for her brother and accidentally spies on the neighbour's dodgy shenanigans, she doesn't expect to end up involved in a terrifying ordeal. It's a classic but great premise of accidentally witnessing a crime and dealing with the aftermath. There are moral dilemmas, amateur sleuthing, dark deeds and a whole heap of questions. The book jad me guessing and questioning the whole time, and the pacing and tension were fabulous. There's a host of deliciously flawed characters all fully formed with plenty to keep you guessing about. There was also Nina's domestic upheaval and relationship crises to keep you interested and invested in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and, as usual, can't wait for the next one!

This book was entertaining, had interesting characters, and did keep my attention. Here are my thoughts in more detail:
Pros:
There weren’t too many flashbacks, no time jumps that I remember. Although time jumps do serve a purpose sometimes, it’s nice to read a book that sticks to a more linear narrative.
There weren’t any truly insufferable characters, no villains so villainous that it took the pleasure out of reading.
The final ending where we see how everyone ended up was not so predictable. Whereas some authors would have had Nina and Zack married or engaged by the end, this one has them still sort of feeling things out in the context of a romantic relationship. In other words, it’s a more realistic ending for the main characters instead of the typical fairytale ending, which I also appreciated.
Cons:
I did start to suspect Tabitha at some point. Other than that though, I can’t think of anything.
Good book, quick read. I would read another book by this author.

"She knows what she saw. But can she prove it?"
The House Sitter by Keri Beevis is a dark and suspenseful thriller that has Rear Window vibes and is perfect for fans of Claire McGowan, Natasha Boydell, and Lisa Jewell.
Nina has just ended things with her long term boyfriend, so when her brother needs a housesitter for his apartment, Nina readily agrees. Thinking that this is a chance to get a little r&r and get away from her life for a bit, Nina is ready to unwind. But when the power goes out Nina makes the most out of the balcony and fresh air. Using her brother's binoculars, she peeks in at the neighbors. Across the way Nina sees a man and a woman and likes the voyeuristic thrill it gives her to watch them without their knowledge. That might come back to haunt her though when a week later she sees that same woman again on the news. She's missing. When Nina tells the police what she saw she is shocked to learn that the man denies having the missing woman over that night and has an alibi. Determined to find the truth, Nina is horrified when she learns that there is more than one woman missing. What exactly has Nina stumbled upon, and has she put herself in danger?
What a wild ride!! The twists, turns and suspense kept me engaged and I flew through this book in no time at all!! The characters were all well written and fully developed and I loved the multiple POVs. I really think that Beevis took a familiar trope and elevated it, yes it has Hitchcock similarities, but it is also wholly original and I highly recommend checking it out!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Keri Beevis, and Boldwood Books for this ARC!! Publication date is May 22nd 2025.

It's been a while, but the Beev is back with another ticks all the boxes thriller!
The House Sitter is fast, gripping and from the prologue alone it had me hooked! The twists had me wanting more and more, and that final blow just blew me away! It left me shooketh!
You won't believe what's going on behind the doors of River Heights! While I didn't get it right, I did enjoy playing detective alongside Nina.
My new new favourite book by Beevis!!

I think it is safe to say that Keri Beevis' books are on my 'insta-read' list. The House Sitter did not disappoint, and mind you, I have started to expect quite a bit from Keri!
My only problem (and this is fully the reader's issue, i.e. me), is that there was a lot of names to remember. It did take me a bit to remember who is who.

Nina is housesitting for her brother and she inadvertently spies on the neighbours one night. She sees a man and woman together, later the woman is reported as missing. Julian, the man Nina saw, was previously accused of murder. Could he have struck again?
Nina tries to uncover the truth, putting herself in danger in the process.
Tension builds slowly through the first half of this book. As the truth gradually came to light, I was gripped and couldn't put the book down. There was an intriguing cast of characters each with their own secrets to hide.

Yet again Keri Beevis has written an unputdownable and page turning psychological thriller that had me captivated from the very start. I’ve only recently started reading this author and her talent for writing superb thrillers is amazing. I was only a few pages in when I knew that this book was going to be one of those that I’d struggle to put down. Of course I knew fairly early on who the culprit was and I was convinced that I was 100% correct but when the reveal did come I was absolutely lost for words. To sum up a fast paced and gripping read that had me on the edge of my seat at times

I haven't read a psychological thriller in a few months, and this was a great reintroduction to the genre. So many jaw dropping moments as I read, this was really hard to put down.
The action started right away and no slow parts at all. There are a lot of characters here but they're not hard to keep up with.
A woman is housesitting her brother's apartment while he's gone expecting to get away from it all with a little r and r.
It ends up being a bit more than that though.
As she gets to know the other occupants of the apartment, she realizes obsessions are running rampant and not just with one person. Many holy cow, did that just happen moments? A real creep factor you'll feel, and you may just be looking behind you as you read. A very much of a surprise ending that really took me by surprise. An author you absolutely need to read!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

Wow! A five star roller coaster read from this talented popular author.
Nina has ended her long term relationship and is housesitting for her brother in his posh apartment.
The power has went out, she is sitting on the balcony and looking through her brothers binoculars she sees a man and woman on a neighbouring penthouse balcony, she continues to watch even though she knows she shouldn’t.
When the woman is reported missing on the news Nina decides to go to the police, she knows what she witnessed is linked to the woman’s disappearance, she is determined to find out more about the guy Julian who lives in the penthouse apartment. She starts her own investigation and learns there is more than one woman missing! Could Julian be a serial killer?
There are some great characters, especially Tabitha, who works for Julian’s father and is obsessed by Julian and nosey Leonard who lives in the same block as Julian,
Twists, turns and surprises keep the reader engrossed!
I have read a number of books by this author, this is definitely my favourite to date.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Boldwood Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review.

I am a huge fan of Keri Beevis and, yet again, this book did not disappoint. Full of Hitchcock vibes, this is a dark psychological thriller which will have you looking over your shoulder!
Nina agrees to house sit at her brother’s swanky apartment. Sitting on the balcony she gazes into the lives of her neighbours, and the dark secrets they hide.

Nina is house sitting for her brother when she notices a man and a woman on a nearby balcony. A week later a woman is missing who happens to match the description of the woman Nina saw that night. Nina goes to the police with her information but the man on the balcony has a solid alibi. Nina starts to wonder who she can and can’t trust, and what is that feeling that someone is watching HER, now?
A fast paced thriller told with multiple POV’s. The book kept me interested but I was hoping for more twists. I would still give this a solid 4 stars.

Wild. Wicked. Sinister. Shocking!
International bestselling author Keri Beevis (favorite) returns with THE HOUSE SITTER, a fast-paced, action-filled, sizzling thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat from page one to the jaw-dropping finale.
While housesitting for her brother in his posh city apartment, a woman becomes convinced that one of his neighbors is hiding a dangerous secret. After witnessing something that turns into a full-blown, suspenseful mystery, she may get more than she bargained for.
About...
Nina has decided not to marry the man she planned and after the breakup, she decides to house-sit for her brother, Dexter's posh city apartment.
She sees a man and a woman on a neighboring balcony and is drawn to them to pass the time. Did they see her watching? She imagines all kinds of scenarios. Things look suspicious.
However, when she learns that this woman on the balcony is missing on the news, she is pulled into the dark mystery and determined to find out what is going on with this Julian guy who lives in the penthouse.
Turns out there is more than one missing woman related to this man. As Nina delves deeper into the mystery, she uncovers a series of disappearances linked to Julian, the man in the penthouse.
My thoughts...
Buckle up, buttercup, get ready for a WILD roller coaster ride! From the stunning front cover, title, and Keri's creative mind and expert writing, you will be drawn into this fascinating thriller with more unexpected twists than you can imagine!
With an array of characters that become involved, surrounding this one man, things spiral out of control, and everyone who gets too close is in danger. But things are not as they seem.
From Nina, Zac, Julian, Leonard (another nosy neighbor), and Tabitha, you will be entertained and engrossed with vibes of The Girl on the Train, Woman in the Window, and Rear Window. Like in these novels, the characters in 'THE HOUSE SITTER' are intricately connected, and the author cleverly pulls out ALL the stops. Prime for the big or small screen.
What passes the time simply by watching her brother's neighbors turns into MURDER (s), but leave it up to Queen Beevis to turn the simple pastime into something complex, captivating, suspenseful, and deliciously wicked!
She keeps you on your toes with twists, turns, and surprises. This one was very realistic! A narrative driven by compelling characters and a gripping plot!
If you have not read Keri Beevis's work, you are missing out and in for a rare treat! She is a pro.
Recs...
THE HOUSE SITTER is for Beevis fans, and those who enjoy works by Ruth Ware, BA Paris, Kimberly Belle, Lisa Unger, Mary Kubica, Kaira Rouda, Victoria Helen Stone, and Freida McFadden.

This book was a little different than I expected. It is not a pure thriller but also has a romance element to it. It is a fun read with twists that come out of nowhere!

Nina has just broken up with her boyfriend and isn't sure where to go from here, but luckily her brother is going abroad to meet his partners parents and needs a cat-sitter at his rented apartment. This'll give Nina time to relax and consider her options, without the opinions of her overbearing mother. The stay doesn't turn out to be as relaxing as Nina first thought. For one, Zac (who owns the apartment) returns home and, since they've fought since childhood, she's not sure if he'll make her leave with nowhere to go. And also, during a power cut, bored and alone, Nina watches some of her neighbours with binoculars, the penthouse across the courtyard in particular. When the woman she sees is then reported missing, Nina phones the police. Except the man who lives there has an alibi, and someone else saw Nina watching...
It's tremendous, every time I read a Beevis book I think yeah that's my favourite now...this one too. It's exciting, twisty and turny, from a few different characters perspectives. Hurry up and write another one Keri thanks.
Review also shared to Goodreads but unable to link account.

This book flows so seamlessly that before you know it, you've whizzed right through it! An intriguing story with lots of interesting characters and red herrings along the way.

This novel reminds me why I love Keri Beevis so much! It seems like it's been forever since I've read a new book by her, probably because I wish she could write a new one every day! Since that wouldn't ever be possible, reading The House Sitter was a treat! It has the normal Ms. Beevis suspense that builds and builds, keeping you awake until way past your bedtime, then it has the "I never saw THAT coming" Keri Beevis twist, and it takes off into a sprint to the end! Seriously, if you haven't read a Keri Beevis novel, get this! Get any of them, really, but today I'm talking about The House Sitter! Read it! You'll adore it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Another Keri Beevis hit. I really enjoy all of Keri's books and this one did not disappoint. We follow Nina as she agrees to house sitter while her brother goes on holiday. While in the apartment, she finds binoculars and begins to look on her neighbors. When she hears that a woman is missing, she knows it's the woman that she saw in the penthouse that night she was snooping. Nina is determined to uncover the truth but it will be hard since the man in the penthouse has an alibi and denies the woman was ever there.
The suspense in this book is what kept me hooked. Ms. Beevis is very good at weaving the characters in and out of the story. I thought everything was brought together perfectly. I had moments when I could of guessed it could of been any of the characters ho did it. The pace in the middle slowed down just a little bit and I didn't understand why since it picked up again in the end but other than that, this book is fantastic. 4.5 stars
I highly recommend The House Sitter and anything really by Keri Beevis.

As always with Keri's books I was immediately invested and was drawn into the mystery of the neighbours and just had to find out the truth.
