I had not previously heard of The Captain and was not familiar with any of his work, so I wasn't sure what I was going to get. (I also love when an author reads their own work for the audiobook, so that was a plus.) I really enjoyed the fact that the author addressed serious topics while bringing levity to them, and giving people hope and a feeling of being seen by realizing that plenty of others have been through those same types of situations. I liked the short, snack-sized chapters, and I appreciated that readers would be able to just read the chapters that felt meaningful and helpful to them. The author is not a certified therapist, of course, and there was nothing ground-breaking in here, but I was still left with an overall helpful and hopeful read that left a good feeling.
