This is so fun!! A great little cookbook to get ready for spooky season and to prepare for all of the parties! The recipes are organized by the spooky theme, so easy to find what you need.

this little cookbook is an irresistibly cute collection of halloween-themed treats that's perfect for kids and honestly, anyone who loves spooky season. the recipes are simple, easy to follow, and accompanied by fun photos that make everything look extra festive. this definitely isn't a cookbook for elevated, adult dinner party fare - it's more about leaning into the joy of bats made of brownies, ghost-shaped marshmallows, and bright orange everything.

the tone is playful, and the recipes are often more about assembly and vibes than complex baking. there's not a ton of narrative or detailed description—most of the instructions are pretty bare bones (fittingly). but for what it is, it totally works. think of it as a comprehensive visual guide to cutesy halloween food, perfect for themed parties, school events, or cozy october nights with a movie and candy corn.

it's ideal for anyone who wants halloween fun without too much fuss, and the visual inspiration alone makes it worth flipping through. if you're the kind of person who googles "halloween snack ideas" every october, this book will give you everything in one place and it's a lot more fun than scrolling pinterest.

This cookbook is absolutely adorable! While it’s Halloween-themed, many of the treats are so fun and tasty that I’d happily make them year-round. The directions are clear and easy to follow, and the ingredient lists are simple with items that are easy to find. I especially appreciate the step-by-step photos included with some of the recipes—they’re super helpful!

I genuinely love this book. My kids had a blast flipping through it, and we want to try every single recipe. Needless to say, this cookbook will definitely be a seasonal favorite in our home every fall!

Every recipe has a picture!! I love being able to see what I'm supposed to be making in advance. This is the perfect cookbook for a Halloween party or just adding a little spooky magic to a normal treat. Some of the recipes did look a bit tricky to make (Haunted House cake and the 3d Ghost Cake), but there are also recipes in there that you can easily make with small children.

Though these are quite typical recipes, they are tasty and fun for the spooky season. My son loves ghosts and haunted/scary stuff, so he was excited that we've been trying one of these a week for several weeks now. So far, the Ghost Cake Pops, Graveyard Pudding, Strawberry Ghosts, Stuffed Skull Marshmallows, and Gravestone Cupcakes have been a huge hit amongst my son and his friends. I also loved that it had a recipe for the DIY candy eyes and sprinkles as they're used in some of the recipes. It is quite simple, some bits are more work but overall easy recipes.

I received this Cookbook from NetGalley and SkyHorse to read/try/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this cookbook.

As someone who is halloween obsessed, this book will become my new best friend come October. This has the most adorable desserts that will be loved by kids and adults alike. I found the directions to be the perfect amount of descriptive and really loved that for some of the more intricate steps, there were some additional photos to help show the reader what the intention is. I also like the inclusion of recipes for staples that are used throughout the book, like pumpkin pie spice and eyeball sprinkles. I'd love to see some savory recipes in the future for a wider range. I can absolutely say that I will be recreating some of these for hosting during spooky season and already know that everyone will be asking where they can get the recipes!

Accidentally hyped up Halloween too much last year in hopes of getting my toddler excited for Halloween and now they are obsessed with all things spooky and want it to be Halloween every day… so I had to pick up this book.

I can bake well enough, but my decorating skills are seriously lacking. So some recipes were a bit of a reach, but there were still plenty that I could make to the standards of my very harsh 3 year old critic.

Overall it’s a really cute cook book for spooky lovers of all ages.

This cookbook is a solid 4 stars, it was adorable and just what I needed for Summerween! I loved how each recipe included a picture and there was a lot more recipes then I thought going into this cookbook. I loved how simple the directions were. I did not know the Youtuber who made the cookbook so I went and followed her channel were she shares other cute recipes. The only negative about this cookbook is that I do believe a lot of it you can find on Pinterest. However, I found this cookbook to be extremely cute and I would recommend to anyone who's favorite holiday is Halloween.

Cayla Gallagher is a Canadian YouTuber and creator of the the cooking show Pankobunny. I am not a baker myself. My daughter loves to bake and decorate cakes and cookies and I also buy books for the library where I work. My daughter looked through this book with me and her insight informs my review. I will admit that I am always amazed at a good Halloween baking or cookbook. So much creativity goes into the treats of the season. Not to mention there are so many yummy flavors associated with autumn. I think the average home baker would have the skills to bake and decorate the creations in this book. The cakes, cookies and other treats are cute and fun. They are not grotesque. Most do not require special equipment, supplies or the patience of a saint to complete, The collection is divided into sections by themes such as Haunted Mansion, Pumpkin Patch and Witches Coven. You'll find plenty of favorite Halloween characters here - pumpkins, jack o'lanterns, ghosts, mummies, spiders, bats, cats and more. Ghost Food is an extensive collection of popular treats that should give good results for the average competent baker. Some of the recipes would be simple enough for kids to help adults in the creating.

What an absolute delight this cookbook is! It has fun, spooky-cute, and fancy ideas for Halloween themed foods and drinks. Every single recipe has a photo - a MUST for any truly great cookbook, and the theme is consistently perfect.

Some of my favorites are the Haunted House Cake (so sophisticated!), Cauldron Brownies (Halloween, yes. But also, hear me out… a Macbeth themed party?!), Witch’s Birthday Cake (I would happily have this as a wedding cake), and the Batty Ganache Tart (dramatic and cute).

I think I need to throw a Summerween party because I want to bake all of the things in this book. I adore this book, thank you Cayla Gallagher, Skyhorse Publishing, and Net Galley for the advanced reader copy!

75 spooky treats! Ghost Food is the perfect cookbook for everything Fall/Halloween. Great for entertaining, but also if you just want festive snacks around the house during October (like me!) Each sweet treat features a beautiful color photograph followed by the recipe. I'll definitely be making these fun recipes year after year!

As a nostalgia girlie, I absolutely loved the different fun and nostalgic recipes given in this book! There are so many! I personally love fall but as the tiktok trend of summerween has become popular, I will be definitely using some of these recipes for my gatherings :) I was shocked how intricate some decorating was and as much as I would love to think I am that good at baking when I looked through these and tried some I leaned more towards the simpler recipes. I do love that if I want to challenge myself that there is a gauge of beginner recipes to intermediate/advance! There is something for everyone!

I personally tried the popcorn balls and the pumpkin spice cookies! Delish and so cozy :) Recommend this for fall!

This book is so cute! It uses some simple recipes as the base for several imaginative designs. I don't know if they would turn out as well if I tried them but they are adorable in the book. These would be great for any Halloween party.

75 ...is actually quite a lot! This book has just about every ghoulish treat you could think of. There are so many of the included recipes that I want to try with my kiddos now. My favorite part of this book is that there are images of each tasty treat. I personally hate when cookbooks just list the ingredients and recipes with no pictures.... I can't be the only one who "eats with my eyes first"?!

As someone who lived in Apt. #666 in her building (creepy, I know!) - every year I say I’m going to host a Halloween party, and every year I fail to get the motivation or inspiration to actually do it.

As an avid baker; when I saw this book, this felt like the perfect (albeit, out-of-season) read to get some ideas.

There are a lot of recipes that are cute and particularly creative here (I love the hugging ghost cookies, the spiders, and the bats), but there wasn’t anything that really rocked me. The cakes are impressive, and as a cinnamon roll specialist, I would potentially try those (though that volume of black food coloring terrifies me). Some elements I had a harder time with were the organization (e.g. by ingredient or theme vs type of food), simplicity of the photos, and the lack of some surprising ideas that I wouldn’t just stumble upon on TikTok or Pinterest.

Also, while I recognized that this one just promised Ghost Food and set no expectations on savory — I was hoping for something here that cohesively could pull together into an all-in-one Halloween party guide. For the very few salty offerings to be as simple as a charcuterie board and hummus was a bit disappointing.

Overall: It’s all fine and good, but I’m not chomping at the bit to try some of these the way I usually am with baked goods.

I absolutely adore this cookbook & can’t wait to own a physical copy when it releases! All of the recipes inside are so stinkin’ spooky and cute + the instructions are so easy to follow! Absolutely love this one and will be using it for all of my Halloween celebrations!

Thank you so much for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"Ghost Food" is an adorable cookbook featuring spooky themed sweet treats.
It’s packed with spooky, festive recipes that are perfect for your next Halloween party. The instructions are easy to follow, and the themed photos are fun and atmospheric!

Some of my favourites? The Mummy Pie and The Haunted Cake.

If I had one suggestion, it’d be to include a few more step-by-step photos for the more detailed recipes as there is only one photo per dish, and maybe a rough time estimate for each dish.

But overall, it’s a charming and super cute cookbook for all lovers of spooky things!

Ghost Food is a fun and mouth-watering cookbook perfect for fans of Halloween and all things spooky. This book is Halloween themed, but the recipes can be adjusted to fit in all year round. The photography and designs of these cakes and recipes are amazing, and if many were put in front of me, I'd be hard pressed to cut into one!
Each recipe is straightforward and easy to follow with ingredients that are easily sourced.
I loved that there are levels of difficulty throughout the book, making it much more accessible and something a lower skilled baker/cook can access and build upon.
The decorations as I've said are so creative and adorable and even if you don't feel you could create the pictured decorations, the recipes themselves are so good you could decorate them in a much simpler way if needed. I can't wait to try my hand at a few of these recipes this Halloween.

3.5/5 Stars! Thanks NetGalley and Skyhorse Publishing/Skyhorse for this eARC recipe book of Ghost Foods by Cayla Gallagher.

I got this book during the "Read Now" availability and glad that I did! Really love the simple and creative ideas of having a crafty delicious Halloween party! The photos were just adorbs and I feel like it could've been more decorative/appealing and some of the recipe ideas I feel like I've gotten a majority of them through Pinterest already.

Great ideas and look forward to trying them with my lil guys this Fall!
