Ghost food is a really cute cookbook with very approachable recipes that are not overly complicated. This is a great book to pick up if you have limited time, but still want to wow your guests, or just yourself. One of my favourite things about this cookbook is that all the recipes have easy to find ingredients, with most of them being stuff the average baker will have on hand. Some of my favourite recipes included the Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate (because I'm a sucker for pumpkin spice anything) and the DIY candy eyes, which might be an usual choice, but since I NEVER have any on hand, I thought this was a great addition.

This is a great book to give as a gift, or even a book that would be good to bake with little ones.

Thank you to Cayla Gallagher, NetGalley and publisher for an advanced copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

4.5 stars.

I am a huge sucker for anything Halloween and when I got my hands on these recipes, I squealed with excitement as my family looked at me like I was crazy. This cookbook has so many amazing recipes that are, for me, fantastic, easy, and oh so delicious. The visuals of the pictures are stunning with the cuteness overload of each recipe and with each recipe rated by difficultly levels makes this even better for everyone. If you are like me and love all here is about Halloween, then this collection of recipes will bring out your love for the holiday with a touch of nostalgia with some classic recipes.

Ghost Food is a delightful Halloween cookbook full of desserts perfect for any Halloween party! Gorgeous photos of the completed recipes entice the reader to jump into the kitchen and start baking. While I enjoyed seeing the many cakes, bars, and other treats displayed throughout the book, I found most of the recipes aimed at highly skilled bakers (particularly when it comes to decorating) rather than novices. On the other hand, that is precisely why author, Cayla Gallagher, is able to include so many sophisticated designs. If you love Halloween as much as I do, this book is worth picking up!

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions written are completely honest and my own.

Although the baking is beautiful it is much too complicated for my level.

Perfect for those who love to bake and like a challenge.

This was a fun themed cookbook! Perfect for anyone throwing a Halloween party or wanting to make fun treats around spooky season. I’m looking forward to making the mummy brownies! I also appreciated that these were low ingredients and beginner friendly. Having pictures with every recipe is always a plus too!

Having themed recipes for different occasions helps get me into the spirit of the holiday & excited to make a mess in the kitchen. With Ghost Food the table of contents breaks recipes down by themes: Haunted Mansion, Pumpkin Patch, Creepy Carnival, Witch’s Coven & Vampire’s Lair. I’m sure it makes sense to the author but to me I wish they had savory, sweets, apps and mains. Within witch’s coven there is hummus and cupcakes. I do love

I really appreciated that each recipe had a full color picture so I could see the finished project. I can see everyone being able to apply these recipes to either a themed dinner or some for regular use. I will be using some of them for our family’s Halloween party for sure!

Thank you Skyhorse Publishing for my gifted copy.

This was a fun little cookbook. It was nothing surprising. It was more about how you take everyday recipes and make them ghoulishly fun. Some of the recipes require special molds or equipment, but most are semi doable. I think the ones I would be most likely do would be the pumpkin snickerdoodles and pumpkin pie hot chocolate melts. Not only did they look good, but they sounded good. The contents of the book are fine. The pictures of all the food look amazing. Whether the reader will be able to copy these is another question, but the author does a good job of writing out the recipe and the instructions.

this little cookbook is an irresistibly cute collection of halloween-themed treats that's perfect for kids and honestly, anyone who loves spooky season. the recipes are simple, easy to follow, and accompanied by fun photos that make everything look extra festive. this definitely isn't a cookbook for elevated, adult dinner party fare - it's more about leaning into the joy of bats made of brownies, ghost-shaped marshmallows, and bright orange everything.

the tone is playful, and the recipes are often more about assembly and vibes than complex baking. there's not a ton of narrative or detailed description—most of the instructions are pretty bare bones (fittingly). but for what it is, it totally works. think of it as a comprehensive visual guide to cutesy halloween food, perfect for themed parties, school events, or cozy october nights with a movie and candy corn.

it's ideal for anyone who wants halloween fun without too much fuss, and the visual inspiration alone makes it worth flipping through. if you're the kind of person who googles "halloween snack ideas" every october, this book will give you everything in one place and it's a lot more fun than scrolling pinterest.

This cookbook is absolutely adorable! While it’s Halloween-themed, many of the treats are so fun and tasty that I’d happily make them year-round. The directions are clear and easy to follow, and the ingredient lists are simple with items that are easy to find. I especially appreciate the step-by-step photos included with some of the recipes—they’re super helpful!

I genuinely love this book. My kids had a blast flipping through it, and we want to try every single recipe. Needless to say, this cookbook will definitely be a seasonal favorite in our home every fall!

Every recipe has a picture!! I love being able to see what I'm supposed to be making in advance. This is the perfect cookbook for a Halloween party or just adding a little spooky magic to a normal treat. Some of the recipes did look a bit tricky to make (Haunted House cake and the 3d Ghost Cake), but there are also recipes in there that you can easily make with small children.

Though these are quite typical recipes, they are tasty and fun for the spooky season. My son loves ghosts and haunted/scary stuff, so he was excited that we've been trying one of these a week for several weeks now. So far, the Ghost Cake Pops, Graveyard Pudding, Strawberry Ghosts, Stuffed Skull Marshmallows, and Gravestone Cupcakes have been a huge hit amongst my son and his friends. I also loved that it had a recipe for the DIY candy eyes and sprinkles as they're used in some of the recipes. It is quite simple, some bits are more work but overall easy recipes.

I received this Cookbook from NetGalley and SkyHorse to read/try/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this cookbook.

As someone who is halloween obsessed, this book will become my new best friend come October. This has the most adorable desserts that will be loved by kids and adults alike. I found the directions to be the perfect amount of descriptive and really loved that for some of the more intricate steps, there were some additional photos to help show the reader what the intention is. I also like the inclusion of recipes for staples that are used throughout the book, like pumpkin pie spice and eyeball sprinkles. I'd love to see some savory recipes in the future for a wider range. I can absolutely say that I will be recreating some of these for hosting during spooky season and already know that everyone will be asking where they can get the recipes!

Accidentally hyped up Halloween too much last year in hopes of getting my toddler excited for Halloween and now they are obsessed with all things spooky and want it to be Halloween every day… so I had to pick up this book.

I can bake well enough, but my decorating skills are seriously lacking. So some recipes were a bit of a reach, but there were still plenty that I could make to the standards of my very harsh 3 year old critic.

Overall it’s a really cute cook book for spooky lovers of all ages.
