Thanks to NetGalley and Skyhorse for the eARC!

This was a moving and very detailed account of Ryan's time on Guantanamo and what was happening in the case(s) during that same time. I do wish the title had made it clear that this was also a personal memoir. The personal info added some additional color and helped bring Guantanamo to life; I just wasn't expecting it.
In places the detail felt overwhelming and repetitive, but I think that's just because the court sessions themselves were detailed and repetitive (of necessity). Ryan did a great job of covering what happened in each court session he was part of - but so much was coded or excluded from open course (by government ruling) that there were places I felt lost about what was happening.

I’m not 100% sure I will be able to complete this on time due to a family emergency whilst navigating parenting and homeschooling two of my children with disabilities and having a small baby.

I did try delving further into it but due to the family emergency reading this was causing me extreme further anxiety. As I have a small baby and am pre surgery I thought it was best to not complete reading in this circumstance it was best to pick up a lighter read and come back to this another time.

What I did read was incredibly well researched and intriguing, as well as fantastically written, and I would for sure like to follow up and finish this if possible at a more peaceful time in our lives when I am better equipped to mentally and emotionally handle heavier reads like this.

Out of respect to the author and NetGalley still wanted to give feedback on what I did read, and in a less stressful time in our lives will probably pick it up from the local library.
