This was a good read by Landsem, whose books are always rich and full of serious situations and themes. The one thing that I didn't like was that the flood mentioned in the description didn't happen until at least halfway through the book, but I expected it to happen sooner. Other than that, I enjoyed it and the timing of reading it was interesting since the flood in Texas that swept away a number of campers had just happened when I was starting to read the book.

All the way around, really great read. The relatable characters, difficult but endearing relational dynamics and fascinating setting of the 1959 Yellowstone Earthquake made for a well done novel that was hard to put down.

The 3 sisters were all so different but presented such tense but loyal family dynamics that made me frustrated with them one second, and empathetic the next. At the same time, Claire and Red navigating their first year of marriage coming from very different backgrounds and struggling with vulnerability and trust, was realistic and heart wrenching.

I had never heard of the earthquake or how intense it was but learning about that was totally insane and made me go on my own info dive into the history. Such fascinating information and I loved learning about it and seeing thru the characters’ eyes. Loved all the different POVs and perspectives. Really well done and I enjoyed it a ton.

Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are mine.

I loved this book and didn’t want to put it down. It was well paced and all the characters believable and interesting, even the more annoying sister (not saying more than that to avoid spoilers). Their relationships, to each other and others kept the interest going and when disaster struck the way each played her part was so well written I couldn’t put the book down even though it meant reading into the night. A great story based around a factual event, scary and emotional. Well done Stephanie Landsem.

I value the author’s prior novels; I found those novels to be intriguing and thrilling, and we discussed some of them at book club. I did not feel the same way about this story. First and foremost, the family dynamics were unsettling, particularly when the mother left. The entire family changes, with Frannie, the youngest, developing a rebellious personality. Due to the ongoing disagreements and their attempts to dominate the situation, I didn't feel inclined to spend time with any of them.

The unexpected and catastrophic events that took place in Yellowstone Park were both terrifying and heartbreaking. I have no doubt that I will read more of this author's future novels.

I love historical fiction with multiple perspectives and this book delivered on the character development and multiple points of view. Action and suspense are throughout the book. I found the frequent miscommunication or lack of communication between characters to be quite frustrating at times, but it does play a meaningful role in the plot development.
I also thought that the faith content could have been more gospel-centered. For instance, there’s a scene in which one of the characters is asked about her faith. She shares about God’s creation and His love, but doesn’t share the fulfillment of that love in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
Overall, I learned about an event in history that I didn’t know anything about prior to reading the book and I enjoyed the resolution for all characters. I recommend this book if you enjoy wholesome historical fiction.

Stephanie Landsem has written another warm and wonderful historical novel. This story is based upon three sisters who seem to have a chasm that opened up between them as they try to leave the slightly smothering father. Their mother left them when they are little and her name was never mentioned again.

Claire has married a man (Red) she met while in Yellowstone National park and has moved out west. Her father did not approve and wants her home. Bridget is a nurse and she wants to get hired at the Mayo so she takes a summer job at a hospital by Yellowstone to gain a good reference. Her father gave her the directive to bring Claire home AND makes her take the youngest (and most rebellious) sibling, Frannie, with her out west.

The family dynamics are wrapped up in all of this and definitely affects each one as they are caught up in the Hebgen lake earthquake that took place in 1959. This natural disaster tested each one of them and their survival was not a given.

As with all this author's novels, the characters draw you in and then the suspense of the historical events keep you captivated with the story. I could not put the book down. I was so blown away by this earthquake information that after I finished the book I had to go online and start reading more about it. I had never heard of it. I have been to Yellowstone and would not like to be in the area during an earthquake. It was pretty amazing story.

I highly recommend this book. I would like to thank Tyndale Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC.

I was into this book right from the first page-I read it in two days! It is the story of three sisters-Claire, Bridget, and Frannie-and their relationship. When Claire marries a cowboy named Red and moves away, the other sisters and their father are worried about her. Bridget, along with their sister Frannie, decide to visit Claire and make sure everything is ok. Relationships are very strained between the sisters, their father and the new husband. Then the 1959 Hebgen Lake Earthquake hits and everyone's life changes. This is a story about love and family relationships. I enjoyed reading about the changing relationships, especially Bridget and Red. The author did a very good job of writing about each sister-I could sense their individuality and what they were searching for. A wonderful book based on a real-life historical event. I highly recommend it!

4/5 This is a story of the true event of a tragic Earthquake in Yellowstone. The author does a great job pulling the true details into the characters and plot.

The Fault Between Us is a beautiful story of three somewhat estranged sisters who all have very different struggles and challenges going on, but when it comes down to it, they dearly love and care about each other. Each have different effects from a mother who abandoned them at an early age and a hovering father who is afraid to lose them, too. It is well written from four different perspectives, good dialogue, and suspense builds as the story progresses. I recommend this for a hopeful and heart warming read.

Set in Yellowstone National Park in 1959, three sisters separated by distance and past hurts are reunited shortly before the devastating earthquake that hit Hebgen Lake. While the earth crumbles around them, the sisters face obstacles of destruction determined to be reunited and repair the “fault between them.”
The Fault Between Us by Stephanie Landsem is told from the point of view of the three sisters and Red, the oldest sister Claire’s husband. Each character has its own faults and secret struggles, but each experiences growth while learning to overcome both physical and emotional obstacles. The novel contains elements of faith and hope despite the tragedy and defection from the Hebgen Lake earthquake.

Wow, what an amazing story based on true events in 1959 near Yellowstone National Park!
A well-written story full of human drama as family bonds are stretched to breaking beforehand and strengthened after it all plays out. It kept me up reading late into the night to find out how things turned out for each of them. It had me holding my breath at moments, on the verge of tears sometimes, and cheering them on. It was very moving in parts, with plenty of emotional tension, especially between Claire and Red. I loved watching Bridget work through her own pent up emotions, overcoming her fears and becoming stronger when the situation demanded it. She was my favorite character.
The author does a good job handling the story with sensitivity and compassion about real people who were affected by the calamity. It brought back memories of time spent in this beautiful unique area. After experiencing a big earthquake as a child, it wasn't hard to imagine the fear this would bring for many years, especially for those who lost someone. It is a good memorial for those who lost their lives there.
Recommend for readers who enjoy stories based on real events with faith and hope. 5 stars!

I had no idea that was such a devastating earthquake in Yellowstone in 1959. Stephanie Landsem brings that bit of history to light. A well written tale of 3 sisters who have lost their way. They were great friends until they all grew up. They still love each other, but they all seem to annoy the other. As Claire, Bridget and Frannie find their way back to each other, the earthquake hits. What follows is a story of the strength of human kind.
Landsem always seems to find these little know historical facts and turns them into a fascinating tale that she then shares with us all. Do yourself a favor and put The Fault Between Us on your TBR pile and then enjoy.

Being a lover of puns, this book title caught my eye. I appreicated it even more as I read through this faith-based, historical work of fiction. I believe that Stephanie Landsem, the author, has done a good job, working at the multi-pronged areas of 'fault'.

Siblings Bridget, Claire and Frannie provide interesting fodder with the faults between them. Then the earthquake created a fault of another kind. Meanwhile, throw in Red and a marital relationship and you've got yet another 'faulty' recipe for perceived strife.

In my opinion, Landsem has developed the tension well, creating suspense and anxiety enough to disturb potential readers, keeping them clinging on for dear life and hoping for happy outcome. One aspect I really valued while reading this book was the backbone of prayer helping to bind the characters together and the acknowledgement that God hears and helps. I give a 'thumbs up' to this.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Tyndale House for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. A historical fiction story about an earthquake I had never heard of in 1959 in Yellowstone National Park. The descriptions were vivid and it was easy to imagine living through the catastrophe. A story of three sisters and they're relationships with each other and their father and It brings to light the importance of truth in relationships. The characters were all relatable and they discovered their courage, perseverance and most of all the importance of hope. I really enjoyed this book.

A gorgeous cover, fascinating premise, and perfect title! This one drew me in right away. We follow three sisters who experience tragedy during the 1959 earthquake in Yellowstone. This is a story of mind-boggling and inspiring perseverance. The author does a wonderful job of immersing us in each scene and helping us get to know each character; this way we are fully invested in the story. The sisters (Claire, Bridget, and Frannie) are easy to tell apart as they are very distinct. The earthquake was a very traumatic event, which the author handled very well. The pacing works well and this manages to be both drama-filled and an emotional page turner. Highly recommended for fans of historical fiction.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-galley; all opinions in my review are 100% my own.

This is such a great read, it does make you think about what is really important!
A read that is fictional but based on 1959 Hebgen Lake earthquake! A beautiful part of our country, Yelowstone, full of wildlife and Old Faithful, but danger does lurk here, and this is a story of when a big disaster happens on an active volcano field.
We have three sisters, family, also abandonment, and dealing with the effects. This is also a beautiful love story, a husband and wife, and a father who really doesn't want his girls to grow up and make new lives.
There is loss here, even before the disaster, and we follow this family while wondering if any of them will survive? There is such devastation, almost unimaginable, and the author does a great job of describing what actually happening.
Such a great book to get lost in, the pages flew!

The Fault Between Us was a BEAUTIFUL illustration of family ties and hope in the face of tragedy. I would easily rate this book five stars. It was a fascinating historical fiction read, telling a story I was unfamiliar with in a way that drew me in and had me empathizing with the characters. I thought she handled and dealt with the tragedy very well.

Claire was such an interesting character and her and Red's journey was so well-written. I connected with her in small ways, so I was probably the most invested in her storyline. I flew through this book waiting to see what would happen! Bridget was another wonderful character. I loved seeing her grow through her roadblocks. Frannie was just a delight. She had me cackling throughout the book, and I was agonizing over her life choices for her.

This was my second Stephanie Landsem book, (I also read and adored Codename Edelwiess) and I will return to her in the future!

I received a complimentary copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This is a story about family relationships, surviving an earthquake, overcoming hardships, and learning to let go and trust God. The author did an excellent job of including the 1959 Hebgen Lake earthquake into the story, so I learned more about that time era.

This is a great book to add to your pile to read, especially those that enjoy historical fiction.

Story about three sisters who find themselves in Yellowstone during an earthquake and have to fight for their lives and the lives of their loved one. I liked the characters and the story. I hope the final version includes an author's note that explains whether the earthquake was a real historic event.
