When a mild-mannered academic goes missing in Penrith, Amita Khatri, her son-in-law Jason, and a retired copper uncover a deeper mystery involving multiple disappearances and missing money.

This was a great palette cleanser after I’d just read a more serious and emotionally heavy book.

It’s slow paced and fun, and we only really get bits and pieces till the actual build up of the case the main characters are trying to solve. But, there’s enough detail to sustain you as the plot builds. I really loved the mother-in-law and son-in-law dynamic between the two main characters.

As funny as these characters were and as entertaining as the story was, I found it very hard to connect. However, this is my fault for reading the 4th book in the series without reading the others.

Overall, fans of this series will definitely enjoy this way more than I did and it’s a really good cozy mystery.
