I am very fortunate that I live in the Highland Lakes area of Texas so we see a huge variety of birds. There is a conservation area here for nesting eagles, and we see migratory geese as well as roadrunners. This book is a handy resource because of the number of color photographs.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A great book of the birds of Texas, with bright photographs and information on where to see each species.

A great collection of birds. Very descriptive and educational. I really enjoyed reading through this

I loved looking through this book! I plan to purchase one for my personal collection. The book contains high quality images of each bird and range maps. The list of popular birding sites, terminology glossaries, and bird diagrams are also extremely helpful for new birders.

Very detailed and thorough, a good guide for those looking to expand their knowledge on Texas birding

Birds of Texas is a generally very fine guide, it has long, well written descriptions of a large range of species, good maps, and informative text on birding sites and the different ecologies to be found in the huge state. Readers are likely to be divided on the benefits of a photo-based guide versus an illustration-based guide. While I generally prefer the latter, I did find the photos in this book to be clear and helpful; if different plumages need to be shown, they generally are. Were I birding in Texas, I would be very happy to have this guide and I will want it as a home reference.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for a fair review.
