The Woman In Our Marriage by Victoria Jenkins is a deep and emotional psychological suspense story. Full of dark characters with deep secrets, it's hard to guess where this is going. I couldn't wait to dive into this and once I did it was so hard to put down.
Reeling from the unimaginable loss of their young daughter, Suzanna and Matthew try to pull themselves together to care for their son Noah. They hire a young nanny, Reka to help Suzanna with Noah. As a result of some heavy duty medications prescribed to her by her therapist and good friend, Jess, Suzanna has a hard time staying focused enough to carry on with daily life. When she suspects Matthew of having an affair with Reka, she really starts to lose touch with reality.
This book is such an emotional roller-coaster. Full of surprises and twists, it is a definite page turner. The pace is brisk, and the chapters are short and easy to read. A longtime fan of Victoria Jenkins, this is one of my favorites. I highly recommend this book to domestic suspense lovers.

What I liked most about this book was the way it grabs your attention from the very beginning and holds it until the end. I thought I had figured out the ending, but I was wrong. Certain parts are revealed gradually as you read, and each new revelation leads you to different conclusions.
While reading this book, I felt pity, compassion, sadness, and pain for the main character. At a certain point, I even felt some discomfort and disappointment with their actions, but that was because I didn’t know all the facts yet.
I loved the ending because I wasn’t expecting it at all. That’s what makes a book an excellent psychological thriller, in my opinion.

I found this psychological thriller to be a real slow burn - it took a while to get into but definitely worth the wait as this story really packs a punch as it plays out in gloriously twisted splendour!
The story starts with an insight into Suzanna’s failing mental health. We soon learn that Suzanna and husband, Mathew, have tragically lost their infant daughter in an accident in the home. Toddler Noah is so traumatised by this that he rarely speaks. The family have a Hungarian nanny who is central to this story, as is Jess, Suzanna’s best friend and counsellor.
So much happens and the perceptions of different characters make it difficult to know what is real and what is imagined.
Overall a well written and ultimately gripping plot I would happily recommend.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Woman in Our Marriage by Victoria Jenkins due to be published May 16, 2025.
When Matthew and Suzanna lost their baby, Annabelle, in a tragic accident, they thought they would never recover. They still had four-year-old Noah to care for so they hired Reka to help out. Is Reka really there to help, or is she trying to steal what little family Suzanna has for herself?
I did not see all the twists this book had to offer! I was hooked from the beginning, read it in two days, and was shocked at the ending! I highly recommend this one!

Victoria Jenkins delivers a gripping psychological thriller in The Woman in Our Marriage, exploring the complexities of trust, desire, and deception within a seemingly stable relationship. The story follows Louise, who, feeling disconnected from her husband Marcus, becomes intrigued by Erin, a new acquaintance from her yoga class. Erin introduces Louise to the concept of an open marriage, claiming it revitalized her own relationship. Desperate to salvage her own, Louise convinces Marcus to try it, leading to unforeseen consequences.
Jenkins masterfully builds suspense, with each chapter peeling back layers of secrets and lies. The narrative delves into the emotional turmoil of the characters, making their decisions, however flawed, feel authentic. While some plot developments stretch believability, the overall tension and unexpected twists keep readers engaged.
The novel's strength lies in its exploration of the human psyche and the lengths individuals will go to protect their relationships. Jenkins doesn't shy away from portraying the messiness of love and the gray areas of morality. The pacing is brisk, and the writing is sharp, making it a compelling read for fans of domestic thrillers.
In conclusion, The Woman in Our Marriage is a thought-provoking and suspenseful novel that examines the fragility of trust and the consequences of unconventional choices. It's a must-read for those who enjoy stories that delve into the darker aspects of relationships.

The Woman in our Marriage is an interesting novel where nothing is as it seems. I enjoyed reading this but I was able to figure out the twist a little before the midway point of the book

Love the premise of this thriller. Suspicious and unpredictable characters, red herrings and twists.
It is a serious page turner and quite engrossing. The storyline is well written and makes the reader doubt what's happening. An enjoyable read!

“A house cursed with tragedy. A family plagued by loss. Surely lightening doesn’t strike in the same place twice.”
Suzanna is convinced her husband is having an affair with the nanny he hired to help their family. She finds a long blond hair matching the nanny’s description on her pillowcase and from there begins to convince herself that all her suspicions are true.
But Suzanna is struggling. Struggling to adapt to life following the loss of her baby, which she blames herself for. Struggling with her 4 year old child Noah who won’t speak to her. Struggling with the breakdown of her marriage.
After a turbulent time with the new nanny, Reka, Suzanna feels that she is trying to take not only her husband but also her son. However, when Noah has a freak accident in the garden under Reka’s watch she is nowhere to be found. Where has the nanny gone?
I feel like every character in this book is an unreliable narrator and I absolutely love it! The mystery, suspense and anticipation were being built right from the off and as the novel twists and turns each character becomes more suspicious. The short chapters, from different characters perspectives, really keeps the story moving and just when you think you have the story worked out, then comes the twist.
My only criticism, which isn’t even a criticism, was that this book just felt very short. I read this in under 24 hours which is testament to the story however I felt like it needed to keep going. I just enjoyed it that much! This really was one that I didn’t want to put down and coming from someone that really struggles reading electronically I think that says a lot about the book.
When I saw this was perfect for fans of Shari Lapena I knew this would be the perfect read for me.
4/5⭐️
Tw - child/infant death was a heavy theme throughout this book alongside postnatal depression/psychosis
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for sending me this copy.

I just couldn't get into this book. I tried several times especially with it having good reviews. However I have read others by the author and enjoyed them.

A captivating read! This book hooked me in from the very first chapter with a combination of well-crafted characters, engaging plot twists, and a compelling narrative style. I will definitely be reading more from Victoria Jenkins.

I think I have found one of my new favourite authors! Love love love everything about this book. Great flow, awesome character building, easy to immerse yourself into the storyline and thrilling twists and turns. Highly recommend.

hank you NetGalley for the arc! This book was definitely enjoyable!
When your friend becomes your therapist and knows too much and uses it their advantage, it's hard to separate truth from lies!

The Woman in Our Marriage by Victoria Jenkins is another twisty, binge-worthy tale that will immediately pull you into an emotional vortex.
Suzanna is grieving the unimaginable loss of her infant daughter, becoming emotionally unavailable to her husband and young son. Hiring nanny Reka seems to be the answer to filling that void for her son. Soon, however, Suzanna begins to suspect an affair between her husband and the nanny, but she has, after all, been heavily medicated. Are her perceptions to be trusted, or are they distorted by a lens of grief?
I love a narrative that calls the protagonist's reliability into question, and Ms Jenkins was more than successful at keeping me guessing.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

I love Victoria Jenkins writing style. Her books are always short and to the point. They have plenty of twists and killer endings.

I wasnso engrossed in this book from the first Chapter, I thought the characters were well developed and had angood twist that had me surprised.

The book starts very intense, a great start to draw you in. The author did an amazing job of infusing just enough doubt in her writing of the MFC to leave you second-guessing. I would have loved to see more family interaction with Reka to build that reader connection.
It should be noted that infant death is a common theme throughout the book.

I had really high hopes for this book and the beginning is certainly enough to hook you in, but eventually I almost chose not to finish it. The red herrings are so trope-y that it’s really not hard to figure out what is going on. There is not enough backstory to make me invested in or give too much thought to the outcome even though you can see it coming pretty early. I do think Suzanna’s grief seems well-written, although thankfully I don’t know for myself how it feels to lose a child, but I absolutely felt her pain right along with her. I think this needs an intense trigger warning about infant death and grief when it is released. There’s a French horror movie called High Tension and the ending reminded me a lot of that movie. It certainly leaves you on a creepy edge but overall disappointing.

Suzanna suffered a terrible loss. Her infant daughter died, and Suzanna is emotionally unavailable.
Her four year old son, Noah has stopped talking.
Suzanna suspects that her husband, Matthew, is having an affair with the Hungarian nanny, Reka.
Suzanna's therapist, Jess finds that Suzanna could be taking too much medication.
Oh, this is such a sad and emotional book! Definitely a page turner!
My heart went out to Noah, especially when Suzanna couldn't bring herself to hug him.
Twists galore and red herrings and secrets. This book will hook the reader from the first page.

The Woman in Our Marriage is a AMAZING psychological crime thriller!
Please read trigger warning for this book!!! There is some topics that maybe difficult for some readers
OMG!!! This book is fantastic! I don't know if I have ever read a prolog that had me so hooked that I knew this was about to be a 5star read. If you want a book that you won't want to put down then RUN and add this to your TBR!! This book is filled with twists that have you questing everything, and everyone. There were a few times I assumed I knew what was going on then bam another twist. The closer I got to the end the more it was like oh ok I see what's happening.
This is another new to me author and she did not let me down one bit! I can't wait to read more of her books!

I agree, this book was blah. There was really nothing there. A nanny dies. Someone is being drugged to take their kid away. Gaslighting. It's been done and there was no suspense to me. I didn't even get through more than a few chapters and then turned to the end.
