Oh this was so much fun!! I wasn't sure what to expect as so many reviews/synopses say 10 Marchfield Square is "The Paris Apartment meets Only Murders in the Building" which far too often the technique of reviewing books by coupling recent hot books/series just leads to staggering disappointment. Fortunately, this book was so brilliant as to very quickly put the kibosh on that concern. The mystery itself is very well-crafted with plenty of twists and clever misdirections, the characters well-developed with fascinating back stories and interesting details woven in throughout as the story unfolds. As someone who adores a good mystery in part because I like to think I can figure them out, well, this one kept me guessing up until the end - especially with the big reveal! Loved it! Kudos to author Nicola Whyte in this debut novel, I will certainly be looking for her next book and can only hope this becomes a series.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review.

10 Marchfield Square is a cosy mystery set in a residential complex/square thing in London. An unsavory resident dies mysteriously and the residents of the building take it upon themselves to look into what happened. There are lots of twists and turns, the main two investigators are a cleaning person and a recruiter who aspires to be a mystery writer, and their dynamic is a little flirtatious and charming. The other characters are quirky and interesting and I enjoyed the listen overall. I will say that it was a bit hard for me to get into, but the final parts were very fun. There were a lot of characters with a lot of details and I didn't really feel that I knew any of them by the end of this. I could see this being a good setup for a series, given that.
Thank you to Dreamscape media for an advance listening copy for an unbiased review.

This was a fun romp. Even though it was a little predictable, 10 Marchfield Square was a easy to listen to and entertaining. The setting of a idyllic London square residence owned by a wealthy woman who is selective about who can live there is the perfect setting for a murder mystery. It's very Agatha Christie meets Only Murders In the Building meets Richard Osman. It's a delight. The audio was entertaining, a lot of characters to go through and keep track of but it was handled well. I hope this becomes a series - it has all the components ready to go. I'd read more. It was a fun ride.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for the audio ARC. Opinions are my own.

This was a very fun listen! I really enjoyed all of the quirky personalities of the residents of The Square - they were a delightful blend of characters that were engaging and entertaining, and figuring out everyone's secrets was a very fun part of the story's rollout. I enjoyed the underlying mystery and digging my way through the red herrings and unexpected revelations as the murders were solved.
I would love to see these characters return in other books - there are so many complex personalities here that I would love to see teased out more. I also think the narration was marvelous and really captured the various personas. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from Nicola Whyte!

What a fantastic book. When I heard this compared to murder in the building I immediately knew I had to read this and am so happy I did its like only murders but somehow even better. I loved the mystery at the center and th3 characters where all amazing. Celeste putting the team of Audrey and Lewis together was perfect they brought out the best in one another and had enough funny and witty dialpgue of two people who are just the right amount of different to work. Thw writing was fun and interesting and wasn't afraid to go to some dark moments. This was a great mystery with twists I didn't see coming. I also loved the atmepeshere of this building all all the fascinating characters that is made up within it. I am so excited because the way this book ended it seems like tk will be a series and I loved loved loved that ending and can't wait to see what Celeste will have Audrey and Lewis in next and I am also curious if there will be a romance at so.e point. See this book is so good I'm already in the next one that isn't even written yet . What a amazing fun time. I highly recommend it's twisty witty and murderous all my favorite things.

3.5 rounded to 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Celeste van Dusen owns a property divided into apartments, with England’s smallest square. Richard Gleeve, Celeste’s only problem tenant, is murdered. There is little sympathy for this abusive husband and small time criminal, but when his wife is found dead the next day, Celeste knows she has to act. She hires two tenants, Audrey, her house cleaner, and Lewis, a struggling writer/recruiter during the week. Audrey and Lewis couldn’t be more different, and despite living in the same building, they barely know each other.
The big question is if someone who lives in the building is responsible for the deaths. Celeste makes it clear that she is sure the culprit is not a tenant, but much of Audrey and Lewis’s investigation leads them that way. Plus the police who are investigating are not too fond of Audrey and Lewis’s parallel investigation. Will they be able to solve the crime, satisfy Celeste, and stay under the police radar?
This cozy mystery was a great listen. The narrator was terrific. Sometimes with an audiobook a terrible narrator can ruin the audiobook experience, but that was not the case here. The narrator put feeling and personality into all aspects of the novel. The author also did a great job, with a clear and compelling style.
One of the most interesting relationships that developed over the course of the novel was between Audrey and Lewis. Left wanting more, needing to know what happens with these characters moving forward, I was happy that the ending allowed for the possibility of a sequel (🤞🤞🤞). There were some good twists and turns with a monster twist that threw everything the listener knew out the window. I am a sucker for a good ending, and this novel delivered. Fans of cosy mysteries, romantic comedies, and audiobooks will devour this one!
Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for access to the advanced audiobook, and for allowing me to share my thoughts.

SO GOOD, I LOOKED FOR MORE BY NICOLA WHITE AND WANT A SEQUEL OR TEN!!!
This was an amazing cozy mystery, one that you can't figure out until the very, very end.
I hope that this will turn out to be a long series
I enjoyed the narrater too, but she needs to work on deepening her male voices and distinguishing the characters from each other, as they tend to run together. But it is not enough to keep you from enjoying the audio.
I highly recommend that you grab a copy right now and start listening A.S..A.P. Thank you to the publisher for this review copy.

Another cozy mystery that I very much enjoyed listening to! The narrator did a fantastic job at differentiating each character (sometimes it can get very confusing when there are multiple people in one story), but the narrator really made it her mission to specify who was talking by giving them each their own voice (literally).
As for the story, this is definitely a cozy mystery. The characters were lovable and quirky. One thing I do wish there was more of was action. There was a lot of talking, and I loved when the action picked up because otherwise it was sometimes hard to keep myself interested. Overall, a solid read that I would definitely recommend and I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more of this author’s work!

I genuinely love everything about this book! Only Murders in the Building meets The Paris Apartment!
A couple of murders happen in a small block of flats in modern day London. The elderly landlady recruits 2 of the square’s residents—her cleaner and a mystery novelist—to investigate, after police are quick to rule it a murder suicide. The unlikely pair discover anyone in the square could be a suspect and everyone has something to hide.
I want to move into this square and investigate alongside Audrey and Lewis! This was such a fun read! I like how the different perspectives kept the story moving in an exciting and balanced manner. Sequel, please?
Thank you to Dreamscape Media for providing an arc!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media LLC and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen yo the audiobook of 10 Marchfield Square by Nicola Whyte, very enjoyable entertaining listen over a long rainy day preparing for Easter. Perfect for fans of quirky characters and mystery without being gory , descriptively violent , or full of bad language ( which I don’t not normally mind but given the Easter holiday, I kind of appreciated). Billed as similar to Only Murders in the Building, it is not really funny, more mildly amusing, quirky, off-beat, and filled with a multitudinous cast of characters and investigators you root for.. others have w the plot, so I won’t give away spoilers, but great debut by Whyte, hoping for more from this enclave in London. The narrator, Nneka Okoye, does a very nice job delineating the characters without over-acting in odd voices. Overall a high recommendation for mystery fans, especially those looking for a modern London setting, non-graphic descriptions/language, witty banter, and enough red herrings to fill a barrel!

Whyte strikes an elegant balance between witty, quirky, and grounded story beats in 10 Marchfield Square, delivering a scintillating read about Audrey and Lewis finding themselves while trying to catch a killer. Audrey and Lewis are lost in adulthood, and have found a home in Marchfield Square, owned by eccentric landlord Celeste who collects people like others collect trinkets. When Celeste asks Audrey and Lewis to investigate the death of one of her other tenants in their seemingly tight-knit community, they learn not everything is what it seems, and that they have more power than they ever could have dreamed.
Whyte's characters are relatable, bright, and human, and despite the solemn circumstances, the twists of the mystery allow them to really shine at each turn. This book billed as The Paris Apartment meets Only Murders in the Building is a perfect fit. I'd also recommend for anyone that enjoyed The Residence.

10 Marchfield Square by Nicola Whyte
10 Marchfield Square is billed as a cosy mystery where 'The Paris Apartment meets Only Murders in the Building'; I haven't read The Paris Apartment, but I do love a cosy mystery and Only Murders in the Building; I was also on the lookout for an audiobook, so this debut murder mystery was an obvious choice for me.
The narration by Nneka Okoye felt familiar and intimate as if it were a good friend telling you about what happened in their English residential square.
When a resident of 10 Marchfield Square is found dead, Celeste, the quirky building owner/landlord, decides the police aren't looking in the right direction. So, she hires two building residents, Audrey and Lewis, to crack the case. Audrey is a cleaning lady with the people skills to talk to anyone and blend into the background. Lewis is a down-on-his-luck crime writer who isn't good with people but has excellent puzzle-solving skills.
I had identified my prime suspect and had an inkling about a twist at the end. I was pleased with myself when it all unfolded, but the twist was twistier than expected. I've assumed this is the start of a fun series with a duo like Audrey and Lewis and an excellent location like Marchfield Square; it just has to be.
Thanks to @dreamscape_media and @netgalley for providing me with the ALC of 10 Marchfield Square to review; it is available now. If you are a fan of Molly the Maid, Only Murders in the Building, The Paris Apartment, or cosy English mysteries in general, I think you'll enjoy 10 Marchfield Square by Nicola Whyte.
Body count: 3.
Thumbs up.

When the description says “The Paris Apartment meets Only Murders in the Building” it really wasn’t kidding. The setting is very similar to The Paris Apartment -= a square of flats in England. Louis and Audrey, residents of the building are tasked by the building owner with solving the recent murders that have taken place in the building. Sure they’re amateurs, but they manage to get better leads than the police and close the case in less than a month. This was a very fun read.

I have really been enjoying mystery novels this year so I picked up this one hoping it would be another favourite. I didn't mind this one but it wasn't very memorable. It just felt incredibly average and I have read too many mysteries at this point to appreciate an average one.
I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

This is a usual cosy armchair who done it.
I really liked the characters and can see the relationships evolving well. Each character brought a different dynamic and it was very enjoyable learning about each of them and how they interact with the recent circumstances they find themselves in.
The plot had a few twists and turns which kept me guessing throughout. The ending was great and I look forward to more by this author

If you are a fan of the Hulu Original show Only Murders in the Building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, you're going to love this novel. Set in a housing development called 10 Marchfield Square in London, mysterious murders have the tenants looking to find out the truth of the deaths.
The proprietress discreetly hires two of the tenants to investigate the murder of the seedy gentleman who turns up dead. One is a cleaner, the other a washed-up crime novelist. Together, they track down leads and question everything until the truth comes to light.
What an enjoyable debut from Nicola Whyte! This book absolutely reminded me of Only Murders in the Building with 'normie', if eccentric, amateur sleuths investigating real grisly crimes. There is a lot to uncover, and strategic processes to follow, and the two lead characters really added some color to the story. In a whodunnit anything is possible, and it's so fun to read a book where you must question everything you think you know.
I think this would be a great introductory book for those who are new to the cozy mystery genre, and the ol' pros too. The web of suspects weaves and tangles in a way that satisfies and the ending is of course exactly as it should be.
Note:: I received an early copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I received an advance copy of this audiobook from NetGalley. The narrator is amazing and really free me into the story! I really related to the characters and the plot was interesting without being too intense. I'm definitely going to be looking up more books by this author!

Celeste van Duren used her wealth to create a safe and affordable community at 10 Marchfield Square. Despite each occupant having been carefully selected, interviewed, and background checked, the community has been rocked by not one, but two murders. When the police refuse to take the second murder seriously, Celeste enlists the help of two of her tenants: her cleaner, Audrey, and a crime writer, Lewis. Audrey and Lewis are polar opposites: Audrey who loves to take care of others and Lewis who is a recluse incapable of understanding social cues. As they begin interviewing their neighbors and following clues, they quickly learn that everyone has something to hide...even then. Nevertheless, they must find a way to work together to catch a killer...or two...or three.
This was such a fun and cozy little mystery. It was like Only Murders in the Building, but in London. I loved all of the quirky characters and I changed my mind about was guilty several times throughout, which always makes it more interesting. With the way that it ended, I really hope to read more about this interesting little community in the future. 5 stars, no notes.

A murder has occurred at 10 MARCHFIELD SQUARE, and the owner of the square, Celeste van Duren, has little confidence in the police getting to the bottom of the mystery. What, then, is more natural than that she should hire Audrey, her cleaner, and Lewis, a semi-washed up thriller writer, to solve it? Together. Neither is impressed with this idea, but nonetheless, they agree, and so begins their awkward--and very entertaining--pairing. Audrey is savvy, friendly, and detail-oriented, while Lewis is socially awkward and utterly absorbed in the process of writing his next book (to the point that he can't help but jot little notes to himself when an intriguing situation arises). Unfortunately, the killer came from inside the house (so to speak), and they find themselves investigating their neighbors (all friends of Audrey's and complete strangers to Lewis). Little by little, the mystery gets as thorny and tangled as a blackberry bramble, but the reward is sweet indeed. I truly hope this is just the beginning for the dynamic duo of Audrey and Lewis!

First in a new series that really look like fun reads. The well secured gated building is owned by Celeste, an elderly heiress who sees everything and misses nothing. First a nasty spouse abuser is shot to death, and the police think they have it all in hand. But next his wife (the prime suspect) is found dead, and it is time for Celeste to draft two of her tenants, Lewis (a poorly socialized failed writer) and Audrey (a highly observant cleaner with an abundance of uncommon sense) to investigate. Great characters and a very involved story that kept me reading late.
Nneka Okoye is great in differentiating characters and capturing their moods and quirks.
I requested and received a free temporary digital audio file from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley.
