I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley in exchange for a review. This was a cute rhyming story about germs and why it’s important to wash your hands. The pictures were bright and colorful!
My 4 year old says “4 stars. I liked the glitter part.”

this book will help children to understand what germs are and the importance of washing their hands.

A very well done book about a serious theme such as germs and bacteria spreading. The language is simple to understand, the illustrations are stunning and the fact that there are different characters portrayed adds up. I would definitely use it for my onw kid of 4.

Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book.
This book was such a fun read and going to be a terrific addition to my classroom!

4/5 stars! Thanks Net Glaley and BooksGoSocial for this eARC of Milo and the Germ Adventure by Shea Peterson. I got this book when it was available in the "Read Now" section.
Very super cute book that teaches about washing hands and keeping up with good hygiene. At the end was very cute and had a activity pack, but it was for just single moms? It was cute but I can't help but admit that I may have felt left out and I most likely and just overthinking it. The activity pack was a pretty good idea for all sorts of family. (Only saying this because my son was asking where daddy was at the end.)
This was a super cute and my 4 year old enjoyed it while he ran in and out of the room lol. The pictures are beautiful and it was just super adorbs. Thanks!

Super cute little book that teaches the importance of handwashing and hygiene by using glitter as an analogy. The only issue I had is we try to be as sustainable as possible, and glitter in our water systems can cause microplastic contamination if , so that suggestion could potentially cause some minor problems if some kiddos got a little too enthusiastic with “glitter germ” handwashing. But otherwise was a beautifully illustrated book with diverse characters, which is lovely to see, and was a decently written analogy.
At the end of the book there’s also a “Single Moms’ Activity Pack” which was cute, but I felt wasn’t the most inclusive. As a married Mom to two kiddos with a disability and a young baby, whilst I understand and am mindful that some single Moms do have it harder, and the author herself may be one of those Mamas, it would have been nice to have something like “Busy Moms’/Busy Parents’’” instead, as otherwise it felt like it wasn’t as welcoming/inclusive or applicable to those of us who could also use those tools and it would be helpful for us simply because we don’t fall into the “single mom” category. There are those of us, however, who may be married but can have things just as busy if husbands or spouses work out of town etc. and we do bear most of the mental and physical child related load ourselves, and would love to utilize those tools, but I felt awkward doing so as it made me feel “less deserving” of seeking those tools out simply because I have a spouse, even if he is out of the home working the majority of the time. This was probably a small oversight on the author’s/publisher’s part, but it would be nice for non-single Moms, including single Dads or widowed parents or parents of kiddos with disabilities etc.
Otherwise the poetry was incredibly cute, and my 1 year old baby and I both really enjoyed the pictures and story together. 😊

What a creative way to explain germs to little ones! I loved the illustrations and the schoolroom setting! This is a perfect way to help little ones understand germs and how they spread in simple, creative, and adorable ways!
Thank you BooksGoSocial for my copy of this book! All opinions are my own!

This is a cute story. Milo doesn't understand why he needs to wash his hands because he can't see germs. During his class day he gets to learn more about germs.

It was a fun book with cute illustrations. The glitter experiment is a great way to teach young children about the spread of germs. This was explained perfectly through words and illustrations. The pepper and soap experiment is great to understand how soap helps get rid of germs. However, it felt the book rushed over that experiment and didn't explain the importance of it. Overall, Milo ended up learning that cleanliness is important in stopping the spread of germs, especially when cookies are involved.

Thank you for the ARC. The illustrations were great. Very realistic and bright. The rhymes and story were great. It’s important to learn about germs and good hand hygiene. This is perfect timing as we are just teaching our toddler about washing his hands.

I find it more difficult to review children’s books than adult books, although I love reading these titles. I didn’t feel like the story followed a consistent pace. It fell disjointed between how Milo initially feels about germs and how he was made to become more informed about why washing his hands was important. It doesn’t need more explanation, I understand this is meant to be more short and sweet and readable for a younger audience. But even still, it seemed to change tones from “Milo likes to get germs anyway even after being told of the harm” to being overly aware of germs to the point of malicious compliance, to a more relaxed understanding.

I really loved the illustrations in this one! They were so bright and really drew my eye from the get-go. The teacher's idea with the glitter was super smart, but she lost me a little bit at the pepper, I can't lie. I may have to use the glitter trick myself! The rhymes were fun and the cadence of them was easy to follow as well.

I want to start of by saying thank you to the author, publisher, and netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Milo and the Germ Adventure is a children's story book about a little boy called Milo who learns about the existence of germs and washing your hands. The pictures are very typical storybooky and they're done very well. My only criticisms are that the writing is made bigger (because it is a children's book) and that they don't actually talk about what germs are and why they're bad.
The books sort of like oh you need to wash your hands because of germs. They're everywhere and they're invisible, imagine this glitter was germs blah blah. But it doesn't mention how germs can make you sick and can be bad for you too.
The storybook also barely rhymed which was a little annoying. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like rhyming storybooks.

I received a copy of this eBook from netGalley for a honest review.
Milo doesn't like soap but his mom and teacher want him to understand how germs spread so maybe he'll wash his hands. A fun informative book for kids about germs and how they spread.

Little Milo goes to school, reticent to wash his hands because it just doesn't seem important. Through rhymes, glitter, and a clever teacher, Milo learns why handwashing is important and how quickly germs can spread.
With bright illustrations and (potentially) some tips, 'Milo and the Germ Adventure' is an simple reminder for younger children on the need to wash your hands. Milo's nursey is a colourful lively place, and the teacher works to engage her charges and convince them of hygiene. The rhymes give a good rhythmn to read and read along to.
A good book for a group read or paired reading with a child/children. Given the topic it is encouraging, adding a protective cover that can be cleaned might be an idea (if only to wipe to reinforce the idea of germs spreading easily).

I enjoyed this. I think it's a great way to introduce what germs on, how we can prevent spreading, and why washing our hands is so important. I can see this being a popular book in classrooms and at home, especially during the school year. I liked the rhyming a lot as well and enjoyed the art style.

An easy to understand super colorful book about a young boy who does not understand "germs" but hates soap, but his teacher explains to him what they are and that they should wash their hands.
Its informative educative short, and overall pretty good, I would gift this book to the younglings in my life.
Thanks NetGalley and the author for this arc.

Great introductory into germ management ESPECIALLY for those daycare kiddos who seem to get sick so often! This would be a great read for a daycare/preschool.

Milo and the Germ Adventure, written by Shea Peterson, is a rhyming book to help young children learn about germs and the importance of washing their hands. This book is perfect for children in nursery.

Milo and the Germ Adventure is a fantastic reader for parents trying to educate their young children about germs. The language was very simple and easy to read, although I wish the rhyming could have been cleaned up a little with most phrases rhyming but others randomly not. I loved the illustrations and thought they would be perfect for engaging those younger readers. After reading, my 4 ½ year old asked more questions about germs and it sparked a great discussion!
