I have to start by saying I’m surprised at the 5 star ratings for this book. I typically read a book in 3-4 days at the most, but this book took me weeks. The story itself wasn’t bad. I did want to get to the end to find out what happened. However, I found a lot of the writing to be repetitive. I also thought character development was lacking, so I wasn’t really as personally invested in the story as I could have been.

This was my first book to read by this author. I may give them another try. Maybe we just didn’t click on this one.

The Second Wife by Alex Kane was an excellent Scottish crime thriller from start to finish, once I started it I could not put it down it was so addictive. full of brilliant twists and turns. I could not turn the pages quick enough to find out what happens next, it was so good. . . . . . . and I highly recommend all of Alex Kane's books. Another 5 star read

Ricky, a Glasgow gangster and drug dealer brought up his daughter Tiegan on is own. Tiegan never knew her mother. Ricky told her she had run off with his younger brother Chris. Dancia is about to marry her father, and Tiegan is not happy about it.

Filled with secrets and lies, I found this book hard to put down. Dancis and Tiegan are strong characters. The story covers domestic abuse and murder. in this well-written book. The pace is fast in this cleverly crafted story.

@alexkanewriter you have done it again what a book. From the first chapter I was truly invested . It had my head working over time . The characters you created were just perfect, I doubted everyone at some point . The twists in the book were just a mental rollercoaster. I say this about each and every one of your books , but definitely this has to be my favourite. Such a great psychological thriller that I could not put the book done . I cannot wait to see what else you pull out the bag with your next books.

I really enjoyed this book. It had some strong characters with some scenes to make you gasp. A punchy book from start to finish. Couldn’t put it down.

I couldn't put the book down. It gripped me so quickly I had to keep on reading. Such great writing. Amazing characters with so many twists

wow that book packed a whole lot of punches. full of clever writing and smart plot points it has you in the heart all the way down to the toes as it keeps you on edge all the way through. the balance between a gripping kind of thriller with the added dynamics of family, secrets and lies was fab. then we have woven into it all such heartbreaking turn of events and when things come to light for the whole set of characters it could destroy them all or at least unravel what they have together. or is it what they thought they had together. for no one is telling the truth here and when everyone's lies are exposed it just might be more of a shocker than they thoughts. who can the characters trust? who can the reader trust? i cant wait for you to find out...

Following a Drug Lord and his family, you get to see the violence and betrayal that tears this family apart.

I really really enjoyed this book! It kept me hooked all the way through with little plot twists added in! The plot connected really well with the characters. Very well written!

I did not like any of the characters which I guess was the point, but, due to that, I stuggled to be completely absorbed by the story. I did enjoy it and it was a great read, but I think it just wasnt the absolute best for me

I loved this book! A fast paced read with a great storyline played out by very well developed and authentic characters. This story would translate so well on the TV.
