This is the perfect spooky read and whilst I may not necessarily be the target audience it kept me thoroughly entertained and I had a great time reading it!
There were lots of fun elements to this and the wonderful illustrations really added an extra layer. The story was intriguing and I really liked the characters.
Overall this was a super enjoyable read and would be perfect to read around Halloween time!

What a fun book! The story is about a boy that discovers a black market that only appears on Halloween. Once he goes there, he takes a bag of tricks . I loved the idea of the book, the friendship of the characters and obviously the tricks! Also, I have to say that I looooooved the illustrations, specially the foovaloo 🖤 I’ll definitely buy in once it comes out!

This book was fine. Martin and Jess are two kids really into old horror movies. So much so that they plan to make their own. When Martin's strange aunt comes to town and gifts him an even stranger pair of shoes, Martin and Jess set out on Halloween night to find the secret black market they were acquired froms. Martin is kind of an unlikeable character, made even more so when he acquires a bag of dirty tricks. This story would have been best told as a graphic novel. On the plus side, this could be a good book for parents who come in begging for something that isn't a graphic novel that their child will still find engaging.

A fast paced story of friendship, greed, and learning to make good decisions. This is a good book for a younger (9-11) audience. The illustrations are fun. My only complaint is that the themes are brought out in a really heavy handed way. Even young readers can wrestle with some ambiguity.
