This novel was a fantastic blend of historical fiction, science fiction and horror. For fans of Lovecraft's The Color Out of Space, John Carpenter's The Thing and any story with nasty Nazis. You will love this mashup. I'm only sorry it took me so long to read it. Highly recommended.

We have had a few oil platform disasters over the years but this is something totally different. This offshore platform workforce disappears without trace and the Valley Oil Corporation sends an investigation team to the south Atlantic to find out more. You obviously think about the Bermuda Triangle but when they find a tentacle like fungus enveloping the platform questions need to be answered. The author slowly builds up the tension by releasing more and more details of the history that has been hidden for years. Good story with good action, excitement and twists.

This book was thoroughly enjoyable. The premise was good. There was plenty of intrigue and action. There was a dual story line from present day and 1939. It was interesting how the stories paralleled and contrasted. If you are a fan of techno-thrillers, you will enjoy this one as well.

The blurb sounded really fascinating. Two hundred and fifty oil workers that have disappeared from the offshore Aeschylus drilling platform without a trace? I thought that finally would have a page-turner. Ha! I just couldn't get into the story. I thought that after a while everything would finally come together I wouldn't be able to stop reading it, but instead I had to force myself reading it.
