Audiobook review: Narrated by Aiden Snow and Andi Arndt

I absolutely loved this story. I am an avid romance reader and this is the type of story I'm always looking for. I did go in completely blind so I was discovering everything about these characters as they were and it was a lot of fun this way. They are both dynamic characters all on their own and the chemistry when they are together is dynamic. Sloan was recently left at the alter and Wilder's last relationship was incredibly toxic so he has been a player for years. The slow burn was burning and when I say this man pined for her...it...was...next...level.

Listening to both Aiden Snow and Andi Arndt will never get old. They are two of my inta-listen narrators. They performed this dual style narration so well I had no issues differentiating between any of the characters. I loved how easily Aiden Snow went back and forth between accents when his little brother was in the scenes. So so good. This was really amazing on audio.

Tropes: Reformed player, Insta-love, He Falls First, Lots of Pining, Sports romance (retired Rugby player)

If you're in the mood for a light, entertaining romance, look no further.

Sloane Carrick has dreamed of weddings since childhood and now writes for *Bride* magazine in New York City. On her first assignment, she crosses paths with Wilder Hayes—a blunt, no-nonsense wedding guest who instantly gets under her skin.

The story plays with a light enemies-to-lovers trope, as Sloane and Wilder clash, banter, and slowly warm to each other. Wilder is a charming, cinnamon roll of a hero with just the right amount of edge, while Sloane is navigating the emotional fallout of being left at the altar by her ex.

The book delivers a feel-good romance with moments of spice, humor, and emotional warmth. Perfect for fans of flirty dialogue and second-chance healing.

Jilted was a nice easy read that I was able to fly through in a day. The FMC gets left at the alter and swears off men, then enters our MMC who is a professional rugby player who has his eyes set on her. Our FMC is a reporter for Bride magazine and is covering 12 weddings where our MMC is a grooms man in each. The witty banter and spice that follows is exactly what you need. I listened to the audio book narration and Aiden Snow, the voice of Wilder our MMC, is perfect. He also narrated the twisted series and if you have had a chance to listen to those you know you don’t want to miss one of his books.

This is not for me, though I’m sure others will enjoy it! The cute rom-com cover tricked me into thinking this was…well, a rom-com as opposed to contemporary romance. I’m not a fan of contemporary romance. I didn’t like the insta-lust or Wilder’s aggressive behavior (can’t a guy try to get to know a girl before trying to put his tongue in her mouth?), and I’m sorry, but the low register of Aiden Snow’s narration is uncomfortable to my ears, even at 2.5x normal speed. DNF ~10%. (Note to self: when publishers compare books to THE HATING GAME, don’t believe them.)

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and Vi Keeland for an advanced audio reader copy of this book. I will be giving my honest review.
I almost liked this one. The premise of this book was such a fun concept. Sloane & Wilder have a meet cute at a wedding that tumbles into forced proximity through an outlandish idea that basically an entire frat has weddings approaching. Weddings that he is in and she will cover/write about for work. Okay I can suspend my disbelief because this makes for an early 2000s romcom vibe. But then misogynistic rhetoric crept in over and over. Then anti-commitment Wilder seemed like a lovebombing extraordinaire wrapped in a red bow. No sir please keep away from our sweetie fmc. To top it off even Aiden Snow’s steamy voice couldn’t save me from the cringe at some of the word choices during specific spicy scenes.

I was only recently introduced to this author and she has quickly become a favorite, so I was excited to receive an advance copy of this from NetGalley. The combination of slow-burn romance with the depth of the characters and their backstories made for a fun and heartfelt read. There are some spicy scenes, but there's much more to the plot. I appreciated the diabetes and Parkinson's disease representation too.

Jilted is a fantastic romance book. it is fun and engaging. I love the characters. They are interesting and have amazing chemistry. This book is well written and impossible to put down. I loved this story.

Ooohhhh, this was not for me. The cover made it look like a rom-com, but the vulgar language ended it a little past the halfway mark for me.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC audiobook.
The star rating is my opinion of it and not a reflection of the author's work. She's popular so that means lots of people like this stuff, just not me.

Sloane covers weddings for a magazine, even though she’s sworn off love after being left at the altar. At her first assignment, she’s roped into being a bridesmaid and meets Wilder—a charming playboy from the groom’s side she wants nothing to do with… until a steamy closet kiss changes everything.

Her boss then assigns her to cover a series of weddings featuring a group of Harvard frat brothers—all getting married. Wilder isn’t one of the grooms, but he’s part of the wedding party, so Sloane can’t avoid him—and he’s determined to change her mind.

This was a light, fun read full of banter, romantic tension, and chaotic wedding vibes.
I thought Andi Ardnt and Aiden Snow did a great job with these characters.

Oh. My. Gosh.

I freaking LOVED it. I laughed and cried and had ALL the feelings! Narrators Aiden Snow and Andi Arndt are always immediate YES for me. I love them so much and they did NOT let me down with their narration of Jilted.

Sloane was left at the altar. Wilder has a past that makes him skittish about relationships. Together they work through it all and it's a RIDE. I will absolutely reread this one.

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this audiobook.

Keeland gives readers a reason to smile, even while at the risk of breaking their hearts. Snow and Arndt find humor in the heartache. Jilted is ironic, funny, sassy and unforgettable. Irresistible, meet cute romance.

Vi Keeland is almost always a 1 click author for me. I was so excited for this one. For me it fell short. Loved the narrators as always, but that being said, I really didn't like like the characters. In particular the male lead. He had some endearing qualities like when he was dealing and helping with her Dad but other than that I really disliked him. Because of that I felt like this normally read in one day took me forever to get through.

The way I devoured this audiobook in one day!! 😍👏🏼🙌🏼 Wilder is a reformed playboy but he has it so bad for Sloane and will do anything to make her his. This book has all the things I love in a romance, a love sick MMC, jealous ex-lovers, and chemistry so hot it could light the pages on fire. Honestly, there wasn’t a character in this book I didn’t love, Elijah added extra comedy and kept this book lighthearted and just an all around good time. Sometimes with contemporary romance I can get bored because it’s the same recycled thing over and over again but this felt fresh and held my attention the entire way through. It’s a slow burn with spice not hitting until around the 70% mark but once it hits, it hits with a bang. (Pun most definitely intended.) 😳💥

Aiden Snow and Andi Arndt did an amazing job with narration. Highly recommend adding this audiobook to your TBR.

Vi Keeland knows how to write romance. Jilted is a sweet read with some spicy smexy times.

Imagine working in the wedding industry and being stood up for your own wedding. Yikes. The story opens with Sloane covering a wedding for Bride magazine when she just happens to be coaxed into the wedding party, setting up the perfect meet cute for the stunning eyes of Wilder Hayes. He’s the super famous, retired professional Rugby player who just happens to be related to the owner of Bridge magazine. Let the slow burn begin.

This story has great banter, intense chemistry, and swoony courtship. I definitely recommend picking this one up and giving it a read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced audio copy. I adore anything Andi Arndt or Aiden Snow narrate!

Thanks for audio ARC - really enjoyed Sloane’s story but really struggled to listen to the Wilder sections - is this what men think like?!!? Goes quickly from wedding obsessed, meet-cute to accidental pregnancy and explicit.

I absolutely enjoyed this audio! The narrators did an amazing job of bringing these characters Alive.

Super cute story about a girl left at the alter and a jilted playboy both afraid to let someone in. She works for a bride magazine hes a retired pro athlete running his own sports team. Watching their love story come to life led to plenty of giggles throughout the story. Cute characters great story.

Jilted is a super cute, high tension, swoon worthy, and hilarious romcom. Sloane, the FMC, is a strong headed, sassy, wedding journalist who is jaded about love and has pretty much banned dating after being left at the altar of her own wedding. Being a wedding journalist, she is assigned to work the weddings of 12 frat brothers over the course of a year. Wilder, the MMC, is a famous rugby player, who isn’t used to having to work to get a woman to notice him. At the first wedding of the season, the bride is the perfect definition of a bridezilla who needs an impromptu bridesmaid so she practically forces Sloan, who’s only there to do her job, to fill in. Wilder, a groomsman, and Sloane are paired up for the event, to “ensure the pictures are symmetrical.” Wilder is instantly drawn to Sloane, but Sloane, still jaded from previously being left at the altar, decides there’s no harm in having a good time with Wilder during the wedding because she has no intentions of ever seeing him again.

I really enjoyed Sloane and Wilder’s story and witty banter! I loved how she had no idea that he’s a famous rugby player, but was genuinely interested in who he was and not just for his fortune and fame. I also loved how much he adored her and was willing to wait for her to be ready to enter a relationship. I really appreciated how open their communication was and the focus and importance of working through their prior baggage and struggles before even considering a relationship. I loved the dynamic side characters as well, they really brought a lot of depth and silly banter to the story.

The audiobook narration was top notch and brought a whole new level of immersion to the story. The narrators, Aiden Snow, and Andi Arndt, two of my favorites, delivered a flawless dual performance from start to finish, bringing the story and characters to life.

Thank you @brambleromance, @macmillan.audio, @vi_keeland, and @netgalley for the #gifted ARC & ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jilted was a fun ride! It reads more as a billionaire romance than a romcom, and Andi Arndt and Aiden Snow do a great job bringing the characters to life!

Sparks fly when an editor from Bride magazine and a playboy groomsman meet and hook up at a wedding. Unbeknownst to her, he’s her boss’s son, and unbeknownst to him, he may have fallen hard but—that one wedding hookup aside—she’s sworn off men for a year as she comes back from being left at the altar herself.

They’re destined to see each other again, though. She’s assigned to cover 12 weddings that year for the magazine, and the happy couples are all friends of his.

Spoilers ahead:

At a glance:
- Dual POV
- Billionaire romance / class difference
- Celebrity athlete
- Reformed rake
- Boss’s son
- He falls first
- Long distance friendship
- Mental health rep
- Diabetes rep

What I especially liked:
- How hard he falls for her
- Her close-knit family
- His relationship with his brother
- Some sweet/cute moments between the two of them

What I especially didn’t love:
- The emphasis on his sexual history
- The laundry list of scenarios/situations that warrant trigger warnings (All of those struggles and sorrows just don’t feel necessary for what is kind of a romantic comedy.)
- The backstory with his college girlfriend and how it is teased throughout the story
- A throwaway comment about how her retired cop father never liked her former fiancé because he once made a comment about gun control. (That’s another thing that felt unnecessary.)

Overall, I really wanted to love this one, but it kind of felt ho-hum—not terrible but not amazing either.

I listened to the audiobook version and generally enjoyed the dual narration—where each narrator does all the voices in the chapters from his/her character’s point of view—by Aiden Snow and Andi Arndt. Snow uses a nice, deep voice for Wilder’s POV, and Arndt’s narration always makes main characters feel more personable and relatable. My main qualm is that the character of Wilder is supposed to have a sometimes American, sometimes British accent, and it seems like it was randomly sprinkled in as an afterthought in the audiobook.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Macmillan Audio. All review opinions are my own.
