I am a huge fan of Randy Rainbow. His podcasts, videos and books are always amazing. That's what makes the audiobook so amazing. He reads it himself.
Randy Rainbow tells the cute and heartfelt story of his childhood. He embraces colorful clothing and big dreams. He always had his own style and was teased in school. One day he discovered his grandmother's magical pink glasses. This helps him see the world with imagination and courage.
I was privileged to receive an audiobook but I can only imagine how the illustration will be in the book. Knowing Randy Rainbow it will be full of life just like him.
Thank you NetGalley, Randy Rainbow, and Macmillan Publishers the Audiobook ARC.

Randy Rainbow rose to fame through his viral videos, stage shows, podcast and books. With Randy Rainbow and the Marvelously Magical Pink Glasses, Rainbow reaches out to youngsters who may feel like they don't fit in. He references his own childhood, and being teased by classmates. His beloved Granny gifts him with a "magical" pair of glasses that lend young Randy some courage to let his real self shine. By the time Randy realizes that the glasses aren't really magic, he has grown confidence in himself. The story is narrated by Rainbow himself, which makes it pretty much perfect.

I always like to write these reviews with my daughter (who is currently 6 years old). She liked the character of Randy but she thought the idea of the glasses making everything look a certain way was a little silly. I don't think she truly understood the concept. I thought it was cute and would be great for LGBTQ+ youth in particular.

Loved this book. The kids loved reading along and listening to the humorous story and brightness of the character. What a great read for this season of children to enjoy.

Thank you NetGalley! The audio version was wonderfully read by Randy himself, however you do miss out on illustrations. A young boy who is bullied because he does not subscribe to the “norm” in wardrobe becomes dazzling with the help of his Nan and a pair of shimmering, pink, cat eye glasses. Sweet story to remind others to trust and believe in yourself and it’s ok to be “different “. Great lesson to be learned,!

I love this book about confidence in your own style! Randy is a great character, and you can tell he has a supportive grandma on his side ready to give him confidence boosts whenever he needs them. Loved this read!

What a fantastic book about being you you want to be! I really like the cheerful background music, and the special fx sounds. I feel this book is very entry level, and could be a very special book to many children.

This book deals with bullying, gender expression, and self-confidence in an age-appropriate and uplifting way. We see how Randy's grandmother is unconditionally supportive and creative in finding a way to help Randy deal with bullying at school without losing his personality in the process.
This book also addresses having a comfort item that eventually breaks, and then the child needs to use the skills they learned with the item without the item's presence.
I loved the music incorporated with the book and the uplifting and humorous tone.
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the Advanced Listening Copy of this audiobook.

*Randy Rainbow and the Marvelously Magical Pink Glasses* is an absolute joy from start to finish—a whimsical, heartwarming story that sparkles with charm, humor, and an uplifting message about self-acceptance. Having Randy Rainbow narrate his own book is pure magic. His expressive, engaging performance brings an extra layer of authenticity and charisma to the story, making it feel like a personal, heartfelt conversation. The vivid storytelling and infectious enthusiasm make it easy to imagine little Randy twirling through life in those fabulous pink glasses, embracing his true self with unapologetic flair.
This audiobook is a **5/5 star** gem—perfect for parents looking to share a story that encourages self-love, creativity, and the courage to stand out. It’s a must-listen for Rainbow fans of all ages and a wonderful addition to any child’s library. Many thanks to **NetGalley** and **MacMillan Audio** for the advanced listener copy!

I received an audiobook version of this adorable children's book from NetGalley and knew I had to read it right away! I am a huge Randy Rainbow fan and this book just sounded too sweet for words. I love the cover too. I don't normally listen to audiobooks due to the lack of time, but this was a quick story given that it's for children. I was able to listen while folding my laundry. (And it made the chore feel that much easier.)
With it being an audiobook, I was not treated to the pictures, but I'm sure they are a lot of fun. However, it was great hearing Randy narrate his own story. He always knows how to make me laugh and this is further proof. The message of the story is perfect for kids, as it teaches them to be themselves and to be confident about their own likes, dislikes, interests, etc. It also teaches bravery. I loved little Randy's relationship with his grandma. She seemed like a really cool lady. Randy's voice really brought the story to life, and there was also the addition of music and some sound effects. I also found the last name of the popular brothers to be really funny. (It's a Yiddish thing.)
One thing I noticed, that wasn't bothersome or anything, was how Randy seemed to overenunciate, especially the P sound. It made me think of the first grade teacher in Billy Madison when she read the puppy book.
This twelve minute listen is worth your time and I hope all children get a chance to read it, whether it is by audio or as a picture book. Either way, it's sure to be a delight for them!

Randy Rainbow is someone to be cherished, and his book exemplifies this!
Through his wonderful narration, we are introduced to a young boy and his insecurities. Through a supportive and wise grandmother, he is able to surmount those common obstacles and remain true to himself.
He's always entertaining and delightfully gets his message across loud and clear. Great book!

The beloved Randy Rainbow (yes, Rainbow is his real birthname!) lends his voice to his wonderful picture book about believing in yourself. No one else could have done it justice!
Rainbow has credited his grandmother for his comedic skills, telling The New York Times: “She was a combination of Joan Rivers, Elaine Stritch, Betty White, and Bea Arthur rolled into one.” And, luckily for us, Nannie plays a central part, along with a 10-year-old Randy Rainbow. Highly, highly recommended.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and Macmillan Young Listeners in exchange for an honest review.

I have no words for how deeply I just fell in love with Randy Rainbow and how grateful I am to NetGalley for the ARC of Randy Rainbow and the Marvelously Magical Pink Glasses.
Randy Rainbow knew that he was different from a very young age. He also knew that he was fabulous but the other kids didn’t always agree…. until his Nanny gave him some magical glasses and some words of wisdom to get him through some tough times.
My son was the Randy Rainbow of his elementary school - he can still burst into show tunes at any given moment - and this book would have changed his life. He’s 18 now and fully embraces his fabulousness but I’m still going to be first in line to buy this treasure for him.

I really enjoyed this whimsical tale. It reminds us to be who we are and not let others make us feel uncomfortable in our own skin. We all need magical pink glasses to remind units okay to be the person we want to be. It combines imagination with reality. Love, love, love.

My kiddo absolutely loved this one!!!
And as a parent I am all about books that celebrate kids' differences

I love Randy Rainbow and it's hard to imagine him young and insecure, but it must have been hard to feel different, as it is for everyone. Happily, his grandma in this story helps him overcome his fears by showing him magic-- and the magic was in him the whole time. I also loved his narration and the sound effects -- this is such a fun audiobook.

Having enjoyed his comedy songs and read his previous books, this sounded like a natural for me. The bright, playful cover illustration drew me in as did, let's face it, the idea of those sparkly pink glasses we all now associate with Randy Rainbow. It's his real name, btw, for anyone who doesn't know. Designed for children, it's short and sweet with the emphasis on the positives of being a "weirdo", as it says his classmates called him. I noted that some of the other reviews felt he shouldn't have used that term but who are we kidding? It's likely weirdo was one of the nicer things he was called.
In any case, he shows, one, how his grandmother's support helped him through a tough time and, two, how to turn a negative into a positive. He narrates it himself and while he didn't knock my socks off, he did a good job conveying the story while differentiating the voices. I really came away from this one liking his grandmother who instilled the idea of the magic being within you, that's for sure. Having read his memoirs, I probably came to this with a bit more background than many but smiled as he made light of his habit of, oh, let's call it, dressing for fun, not to fit in. His love of dance and Broadway tunes shines forth here, too.
While I doubt a pair of sparkly pink glasses will be the answer for all children not fitting in, this one voices the idea that it's possible to be yourself. While I'm sorry he had to endure the harassment, I applaud him for offering hope to others who didn't fit in with the crowd. Let's face it, we're all weird at one time of the other, so thanks reaching out your hand, Randy, to those who dare to be their own unique kinda self. Thanks #MacmillanAudio for sharing this early listen with me. I'm always glad to spend time hanging out with Randy.
