I really enjoyed Kate’s first book that I read a couple years ago, but these last two just haven’t reeled me in as much. I like Jules, but this is another romance that just didn’t do a lot for me. I was more interested in Kitty’s story with Knots and Beau.
Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.

This is my third Kate Robb book and I enjoyed it. She writes magical realism well! It gave small town vibes like stars hallow meets little cozy hallmark movie. I felt the pacing of the character development was well written and not too much of a slow burn.
I enjoyed reading Jules and Kitty’s story of being raised in a small town and dreaming of something more! Like a hallmark movie, some of the story was predictable but in a good way! Gave cozy and charming vibes. I really enjoyed this story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dial press for my ARC. This novel comes out in October and be sure to put it on your TBR!

Kitty St. Clair is chaotic, complicated, and completely captivating—and I loved her.
Kate Robb’s Kitty St. Clair’s Last Dance is like a glittery cocktail of grief, romance, and bad decisions—with just enough emotional wreckage to keep you turning pages at 2 a.m. Kitty’s journey is messy in the best way, and the second-chance romance? YES, PLEASE.
It’s sharp, funny, and full of heart—but I did wish for just a bit more depth in the side characters. Still, this book gave me all the feels: I laughed, I cringed, I rooted for Kitty the whole way.
4/5 stars — a bold, bittersweet, dance-through-your-tears kind of read.
Read this if you love:
• emotionally messy heroines
• second-chance romance
• heartbreak with humor
• main characters who feel too real
Kitty’s not perfect—and that’s exactly why she’s unforgettable.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dial Press Trade Paperback, Kate Robb for this eARC

Kate Robb has done it again with brilliant storytelling in Kitty St Clair’s Last Dance. A lesson in moving forward by looking to the past, I breezed through this read in the blink of an eye.

Soooooo this book had me floating in a weirdly dreamy, time-traveling romcom haze and I loved it. Kitty St. Clair’s Last Dance is giving “small town nostalgia meets Gilmore Girls sass meets a little bit of Hallmark channel… but make it actually good.”
Jules is just a girl trying to keep her head above water in a lakeside town that’s getting swallowed by rich people and Airbnbs. She’s working like three jobs, lowkey putting med school on the back burner, and then BAM! She inherits a crumbling dance hall from the town’s most eccentric old lady. (Iconic behavior, Kitty.)
Enter Reeve. Tall, handsome, probably smells like cedar and heartbreak. Also the guy who ghosted her two summers ago and now suddenly wants to develop condos where the dance hall is. Huge red flag, but also… he’s really charming?? And kind of sorry?? And still hot?? Yeah.
But here’s where it gets so good, Jules finds Kitty’s diary and ends up time-traveling into it when she falls asleep?? So now she’s living in this kind of dreamy 1970s vibe with young Kitty, and the whole thing is giving “learn from the past to unlock the future” but in a really heartfelt, not-too-cheesy way.
This story balances emotional depth with fun, which is honestly hard to pull off. Jules felt real, she is messy, unsure, and fiercely loyal to her town. And the whole “second chance romance meets legacy meets magical realism” thing worked so well?? Kitty’s character especially stood out, both in the present and in her younger years, like she is the glue holding it all together.
Docking half a star only because some pacing toward the middle dragged a bit and I wanted just a liiiittle more from Reeve’s side of things. But overall?? This was the kind of cozy, slightly whimsical romance that sneaks up on you and makes you cry a little but also smile the whole way through.
If you’re into Taylor Swift’s The Lakes, old diaries with secrets, and slightly ghosty old women who run your life from the grave then this one’s for you.
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC

Another delightful, quirky, magical romcom from Kate Robb! This was the third book of hers that I've read and she delivered more of what I've come to expect, still a huge fan.
Loved Jules (and Kitty) as FMC but MMC Reeve didn't click with me until toward the end. I wish there had been more focus on the dream world in this one; I found myself almost disappointed when we had to return to reality. There was just the right amount of spice and a satisfying twisty sort of end. This is certainly not my last dance with a Kate Robb book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cool premise with tons of potential that really didn’t pan out into anything. In fact, the dreams and the whole magical realism element didn’t add any value to the story.
And great FMC but the MMC did not sit right with me all the way to the end.

dnf at 30%, loved her last book but i’m feeling disconnected from this story so far and i had high hopes:(

Jules unexpectedly inherited a dilapidated dance hall from Kitty St Claire. She’s not sure what to do with it yet but no matter how badly she needs the money she won’t sell it to Reeve. If only she could talk to Kitty for advice. Since thats not possible she decides to do the next best thing, read her diary. But as she falls asleep Jules wakes up in a different world. More specifically 50 years ago.
As usual Robb did a great job with writing an interesting story that you don’t want to put down. I only wish it was a little more clear when it switches between Jules regular life and her dreams because at times I got confused.
I wasn’t sure about Reeve at first but he really grew on me although Kitty is still my favorite character. If you like Ashley Poston I highly recommend you check out Robbs books. Well written, mature characters with a fun magical twist.

I’m a big Kate Robb fan. I’ve been lucky to read early copies of all three of her books, and I honestly don’t know why they aren’t more popular than they are. She writes well written romances, with a bit of a magical twist, and they’re always a good time. I think this one was her best yet!
Kate writes pretty unique stories, with the way she weaves in the magic. In this book, Jules inherits a dance hall from Kitty St. Clair, and starts reading Kitty’s diary in an attempt to figure out why she left her the building. It’s a little like reading two stories at once, because the magic comes in the form of the main character getting transported into Kitty’s past while she’s dreaming.
This book gave off strong Carley Fortune vibes, with its Canadian vacation town setting and reconnecting with someone from the past. It also reminded me of Mrs. Nash’s Ashes, since we get the two stories at once and flashbacks through a diary. And of course the magical element made me think of Ashley Poston’s stories. Basically, it’s like a mashup of books from three of my favorite authors, so what’s not to like??? I’m already looking forward to Kate’s next book!

This is the 3rd Kate Robb book I've read and there's just something so comforting about the way she writes. I love how her books are always a cute love story with a little touch of magic. This one was no exception.
I always interesting pairing present day with a big one era, and I think it really worked in this story. I'm also slowly discovering I like second chance romances. And I kind of wish I could have met Kitty St Clair in real life.

I'm gonna start this off by saying I LOVED this so incredibly much. Kate Robb has done it again. Not that I'm surprised. Whenever I wasn't reading this book, I was wishing I was and missing the characters. There's something so magical about Kate Robb's writing. It flows effortlessly and seamlessly throughout this entire book. There wasn't a single moment where I was wanting the Kitty St. Clair dreams to be over so I could get back to the Jules/Reeve plot. Which is saying something because usually with books that have a separate plot from the LI's, I can easily get bored and just be wanting to see the main character's interacting again. But that was not the case here. And that's not to say that part of the plot was better than the romance, because LEMME TELL YOU the romance was romancing.
I loved Reeve so much. He is so incredibly swoon worthy it's insane. I was obsessed with him throughout this entire thing. Kate Robb knows how to write a MAN! I was giggling and kicking my feet every time that man came onto the page. His love for Jules.....man, when is it my turn?
The Kitty storyline had me hooked. The way it all tied up in the end had my heartwarming and breaking at the same time. I felt so connected to both her and Jules so it was a very emotional ride for me! All in all, this was a pretty perfect book. I don't think there's anything I had an issue with or didn't like about it.
P.S. I can't wait to find out more about the next book! There was a little sneak peek at the end of this and I ate that up too!!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Jules and Reeves meet at a beach party and there is instant chemistry. A wrong phone number causes him to unintentionally ghost her, only to show up 2 years later. At this point Jules is working at Sunnyvale, an assisted living facility. She has great relationships with the residents but is shocked to learn that Kitty St Clair has bequeathed her an abandoned dance hall. But Jules’ dream is to become a doctor. Should she sell it to developers and open her community up to gentrification so she can go to med school?
Then- out of the blue- she gets Kitty’s diary from her youth, there is a bit of a love triangle- and ghost Kitty is also there via the diary, Tom Riddle style.
I really loved Reeve, he is a good book boyfriend. It’s a worthy plot although a bit predictable. If you like a magical realism romcom, Kate Robb is one of the best. There is good banter and fun side characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dial press for the ARC. Book to be released October 7, 2025.

I adore a small town romance! Add in the magical romance, tension, yearning and the emotional pull I felt to these characters. This was a masterpiece of a romance book.

I am a huge Kate Robb fan and now an even bigger fan of Kitty St Clair. This made me feel connected to my late grandmother while feeling all of the emotions. I laughed, I cried and I just couldn’t put this down.
Not the most creative review I’ve ever written but I’m so happy to have read this book. I will be shocked if a book tops this in the rest of the year

It is always really exciting to receive an ARC. This was such a fun and enjoyable read. I am usually a little wary of reading contemporary romances with a splash of fantasy, but the premise of this book was really cute and I had a good time reading it.
Something could’ve been flushed out more - I’m really confused why we skipped over the grandmother and talked about the main character‘s mom and great-grandmother so much
I also don’t really find Insta love believable, and it might be one of my least favorite tropes
however, all that being said, I still enjoyed the book and it resonated with me as the main character is interested in medical school. I think the two main characters had good chemistry and the writing was fun.
I enjoy all of these authors books and look forward to seeing what she writes next

Jules has dreams of going to medical school but her dire financial situation is complicating things. When she inherits a dance hall, it looks like her dreams can finally come true as property developers are keen to purchase the building. But is Jules willing to cut ties with her home town?
This is a sweet and cozy read - a treat in these stressful times. I loved the setting and Jules and Reeve are cute together. I enjoyed learning more about Kitty and her past. 3.5 stars.
Thank you to Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

I loved this, and definitely cried. And have added Kate Robb to my list of "definitely will read." The setting is great, as are the characters and the story, and I loved the mystery/fantasy elements - they're interesting in a way that doesn't require much suspension of disbelief, and add to the story in a fun way. And I really liked the way that the book took a misunderstanding that might have been the whole plot for a lesser novel and then led to a much bigger story.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley.

When Kitty St. Clair passed away, she left the deed of a building to Jules, an employee of the retirement home Kitty lived at. Jules has no idea what she’ll do with it, though selling it sounds like the answer she needs to clear her debt. Enter Reeve Baldwin, a gorgeous guy from a one night stand years before that’s now works for a real estate developer, and wanting to buy the building from her. It would fix all her money issues, but is that what Kitty was intending when leaving it to Jules?
*** Second chance romance
*** Past and present timelines
*** Small town setting
I really enjoyed this latest novel from Kate Robb. Jules’ path to figure out what she wants for her future was so relatable. Do we choose the safe and stable route, or do we chase our dreams no matter how hard it may be? I usually struggle with dual timelines, but it was done very well. And gosh, I loved the ending and how the story behind the timelines came together - perfection!
This was a wonderful story of self reflection and discovery, with an emotional love story. Definitely recommend!
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group and Netgalley for the ARC of this novel; all opinions are my own.
