I am rating this a 3.5! This book felt like a hallmark romantic comedy and it was such a fun read! I think with second chance romance it can be hard to justify the couple getting back together. The overall pace of the book was done well and the writing was very easy to read! I think that the dual timeline was written well, and the reason why the split to begin with was sad but a realistic thing that could happen and made sense why the MMC wanted to continue to pursue things. This book also had a magical realism aspect that I found super fun. Very much and Ashley Poston vibe. I liked how we also got some life advice from Kitty. Overall I felt like I was watching a movie while reading and im looking forward to exploring more of Kate Robbs books! Goodreads and instagram post to come closer to pub date.

I feel so bad saying this but - I did not love this one. *Queue the tears*

Seriously, I have loved every Kate Robb book so far, and I have been getting so excited when a new one crosses my kindle. But this one....I just struggled with it.

Not that it is a bad book, I just struggled to connect with the characters. I felt like there was more emphasis on Jules and her own character development, and Kitty St Clair played a much smaller part of the story than I expected. I love the time slips/alternate realities I've come to know and love with Robb's writing, but this time it felt half baked and I was confused more than not.

The alternate reality did technically play a role in the story, since it told Jules what she never knew about Kitty, but I also kept wondering what the point of the slips were. Jules never stayed in one longer than a few pages, and they just seemed like small snapshots into Kitty's life. They also painted a very different picture than what we read about in the "regular" universe, and it kind of paints Kitty's life in a sad light. There was some build up in the dream world, and that build up just....kind of went nowhere.

Robb does a great job of painting Reeve as a bad guy though - I really despised him for a large portion of the book. I just knew he was going behind Jules' back and doing skeevy things, and that he would break her heart in the end. But, you know, this is actually a romance and that does not happen, but there is some serious miscommunication at play. Because I was really focusing on him being the bad guy, I felt like I missed the connection between the two of them - it didn't help that Jules doubted his intentions all along. There were some cute moments between them, but I seriously kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Overall, this feels very different from the last two Robb books I've read, and this one just was not my cup of tea. This one does have a lot of sadness going into it, and it was not the heartwarming read I have come to expect from her writing. There is a happy ending, after a third act breakup, but I just struggled to see the connection between the characters. BUT, I still love Robb's writing and I KNOW she's already working on another book - which I will happily read as soon as I can.

I am not usually a fan of magical realism, but Ashley Poston has sold me on her books so I figured I'd give another author a try. This was a cute story, but some of the "magical" elements were just a little too much for me. I like how Ashley Poston keeps the story mostly realistic, with just sprinkles of unreal. This had a little too much unreal for me that it took away from the rest of the story. I did like the characters and if I look past the magical realism it was a pretty good story.

Jules Demarco is a small town girl with big dreams. When one of the patients at the retirement home Jules works at passes away, leaving Jules an unexpected gift, her dreams suddenly become closer to reality.

With lovable characters and a bit of magic, Kitty St. Clair’s Last Dance was a happy, cozy, light-hearted read.

Kate Robb fans will love Kitty St. Clair just as much as her past works. Thank you NetGalley and Random House | Dial Delights for an advanced copy of Kitty St. Clair’s Last Dance, available October 7, 2025.

This was fine. I would probably give it a 3.5 rounded up. I definitely still think her second book is her best though. If you're familiar with Kate Robb's books you'll know that they have a sort of magical realism element. This book also did have that but it didn't feel as big as her first two books. I don't think that's the correct way to describe it but if you read this book you'll get it 🤣. Honestly though, I didn't really care for the romance in this book. It didn't really seem like the two main characters even liked each other that much. It felt super rushed and sort of like an after thought. I was more interested in Kitty's romance tbh. This book was still good though don't get me wrong. I just didn't really think it was anything THAT crazy interesting.

Kitty St. Clair’s Last Dance is a beautiful blend of contemporary fiction and romance with a touch of magical realism.

Jules has lived in the same small town most of her life. One night, she meets a rich, handsome man—they share a single night together, and then she doesn’t hear from him for two years. Now he’s back in town as a real estate developer, just as Jules unexpectedly inherits a very expensive property.

This story really centers on Jules’ personal growth. There’s a gentle thread of magical realism woven throughout, and I was so invested in Kitty St. Clair’s story too.

I loved this book—it’s a cozy, comforting read. Both Reeves and Jules are flawed characters who grow meaningfully, yet never become unlikable.

It’s a story about second chances, healing, and the quiet magic of believing in yourself. One of those reads that leaves your heart full.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for a digital ARC of Kitty St. Clair's Last Dance.

This was cute enough. Not as good as her debut, but I think that one will be hard to beat. I liked the beginning but found myself skimming over some parts, especially the dreams. I'll continue to read her stuff.

This book was so cute. I really enjoyed it! It's the first book I've read by Kate Robb, but I will definitely be picking up more of her books in the future. I enjoyed the magical realism aspects of the books, and loved that Jules figured stuff out on her own, as well as with Reeve. The ending felt different than most contemporary romance books, and I thought it was refreshing. I really loved it!

Super cute! The small town setting and dance hall nostalgia were charming, and I liked Kitty’s grit. But the pacing felt off, and I found myself skimming in parts. Some characters were underdeveloped, and the romance didn’t fully land for me. Still, it had sweet moments, and if you love small town stories with a touch of family drama, you’ll like it too!

This book was such a sweet, unexpected gem! Kitty St. Clair’s Last Dance is a cozy, magical little escape set in a charming lakeside town with a big heart. I loved Jules as a main character—she’s practical, a little messy, and super relatable. Her unexpected inheritance of a rundown dance hall kicks off a story that blends real-life dilemmas (housing issues, dreams deferred, messy romance) with just the right touch of time-travel whimsy.

The magical twist—Jules slipping into Kitty’s diary dreams—was honestly my favorite part. Young Kitty was a blast, and seeing the dance hall in its heyday added so much nostalgic warmth. It gave the story this almost Midnight in Paris vibe, but more grounded and emotional.

The romance with Reeve had its swoony moments, even though I side-eyed him at first (magical night two years ago and then ghosted? Come on). But the chemistry was real, and he actually grows on you. It’s not a love story that feels rushed—it’s earned.

Overall, this is a heartwarming, slightly magical read about second chances, both in love and life. Perfect for fans of Emily Henry or Sarah Addison Allen. Definitely worth picking up if you’re craving something charming and just a little bittersweet.

I loved this book!!!! This was such a great read and I absolutely devoured it. I was immediately pulled into the story and loved the magical realism aspects of the story. Jules and Reeves had such great chemistry and I just absolutely loved them. This was my first read by Kate Robb and I will definitely be picking up more by her after reading this!! I loved her writing style and how well she was able to capture these characters and their emotions. If you like Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry, you’ll love this one!!

Thank you Dial Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy! All opinions are my own.

Kitty St. Clair was a force to be reckoned with, her spirit inspiring a younger generation. Jules knew her only briefly, but an unexpected gift from Kitty has her dreaming bigger than she has ever imagined. A shuttered dance hall could be the answer to unlocking her dreams, especially when a mystery man from the past resurfaces with a plan.

I'm not usually a fan of suspending reality, but Kate Robb's writing is so good, it keeps me hooked and coming back for book after book. Highly recommend.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Random House and Dial Press Trade for a copy of this wonderful arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the first story that I have ever read by Kate Robb and I can definitely say that this will not be the last story that I read by her.
What I loved about this story was the touch of magical realism that weaves itself into a beautifully written modern day, second chance romance. As a new reader I was hooked right from the start and couldn’t put the book down.
In the story we meet the female main character Jules, who one can consider to be a bit of a pessimist. She is someone who lives comfortably and isn’t someone who really spreads her wings to fly and try to be what and who she truly wants to be. One day when she is at a party with her friend Zoe she meets our male main character Reeve, who unlike Jules comes from a family of money. Reeve like Jules settles to work in a job he truly isn’t passionate about for fear of rocking the boat with his own family and trying to make his father proud and not be considered the black sheep of the family.
When Kitty St. Clair, one of Jules patients at the nursing home dies leaving Jules in her will with an abandon building which was once a dance hall, this changes her whole world.
Throughout the story Kate weaves the past into the present when Jules finds Kitty’s diary. This eventually leaves Jules to learn how to choose to live for herself and find what makes her happy.
This story was wonderfully crafted and I cannot wait to purchase this book when it comes out and look forward to reading more by this author.

Twofer.

American slang for two for one deals.

The reader is gifted with two parallel love stories, one bittersweet and the other a sweet, contemporary (but not without some real test of family betrayal, and not so lost dreams).

Author does an excellent job in seamlessly moving from one story to the other then back again.

And, while the setting is primarily set in a small lakeside town in Canada, the setting is universal for its small town vibes. The bff adds humor and support to our heroine making her a standout backdrop character. The retirees inhabiting the home provide for some humorous moments for our heroine.

This read wasn’t initially on my radar and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Random House and Dial Trade Publishing for providing this book, with my honest review below.

I’ve really enjoyed Kate Robb’s last book (and am hoping to read more) so Kitty St. Clair’s Last Dance had me settling in for what I was sure would be a great read, and I wasn’t disappointed. Jules is our heroine and while she didn’t grow up smooth sailing she works at a retirement home sincerely caring for its residents, including the late Kitty, who left her a dance hall when she passes. With a dash of magic in a diary, and a supportive romantic interest in Reeves to help her along, Jules not only learns more about Kitty’s past and her town, she also learns a bit about supporting her dreams.

This hit the right emotional, humorous, and romantic notes to make it an interesting and satisfying book that wasn’t as light as you’d believe but still had me sighing. Highly recommend!

I was sent this book by the publisher based on my review history and I’m so glad I received it. This is the story of Jules, a small town Canadian girl, trying to get by, and her second chance with Reece, a Toronto boy who she hooked up with one summer and never heard from again. Jules is scrappy and smart and everything you want in a FMC. Reece is sweet and sexy, an excellent book boyfriend. I love the magical flashback through Kitty’s diary and how these two worlds parallel each other. Highly recommend and can’t wait to check out the author’s other books.

Thank you to Netgalley & Random House for an ARC copy of Kitty St.Clair's Last Dance, in exchange for an honest review.

Reading Kitty St.Clair’s Last Dance made me Kate Robb’s newest fan. Not only I found myself rooting for Reeve and Jules, but also, I found myself caring deeply for Kitty and her true story, on how she became the Kitty St.Clair we met in the book. Even the side characters will stay with me. I feel like they’re all my friends now and if I go to this little town, I expect to meet them at the diner. I’d say this is the best small town romance I’ve read this year.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for Kitty St Clair’s Last Dance by Kate Robb. I adored this book. I have not read one of Kate Robb’s books but liked the premise of this one. It was quirky and cute with good storytelling behind it. A bit of time travel through dreams, which was confusing at first, but you get the hang of it quick. It really added to the story as well. It was a quick, enjoyable read. I appreciate the ARC and loved the opportunity to review this one. I definitely recommend for this to be added to your ‘Must Read’ list!
