BOOK REVIEW: “The Deadliest Snake” by Eleanor Spicer Rice and illustrated by Max Temescu
In the newest book by Eleanor Spicer Rice, six snakes face off to see who is the most deadly. Readers learn about snakes from all over the world, and find out whose bite is the most dangerous.
What do these snakes like to eat? Where do they live? What should you do if you encounter one? All of these questions will also be answered in a clear and understandable way. My only dislike of this book was the very graphic and detailed description of what would happen to a human’s body once bitten. I think it’s much too graphic for the intended age of 7-10 year olds. Although I did not enjoy the “Deadliest Flower” version by the same author, I found “The Deadliest Snakes” to be a bit less creepy. I rate this book as 4 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.

Excellent. My son is currently deeply into a reptile obsession so this ARC came at the perfect time. Highly recommended!

Such a fun way to learn about some of nature's deadliest creatures! Lots of information with lots of great illustrations to go with it, Perfect for young readers who want to learn more about snakes (like where they live, what they like to eat, and how to protect their habitats) but in a fun way. My kids are 7 and 9 and they absolutely loved reading this together and talked about snakes long after we finished the book! Cannot wait to read more in this series!
Thank you to Netgalley, Norton Young Readers, and Eleanor Spicer Rice for this e-ARC to review!

Tons of interesting facts wrapped up in an engaging delivery. This book raises curiosity with it's clever who-is-the-deadliest hook—you keep reading, because you have to know the answer!
Fun and informative, but also terrifying. Great art and a very aesthetic layout. This is a fantastic book for raising awareness of and learning about snakes.

I really enjoyed this book. It gave fascinating facts about some of the most deadliest snakes while also teaching children how to respect snakes even of they may be venomous. I also thought the illustrations were cute.

"The Deadliest" series is a lot of fun to read and learn from, and I have enjoyed Deadliest Cats and Deadliest Spiders prior to this. The Deadliest Snake follows the same format, and will be a hit for fans of Who Would Win? And other books about predators. The thing I especially enjoy is the information about how snakes (or whatever the deadliest feature is) can help us and are beneficial to our ecosystem. Kids learn a lot when they think they're just having fun.
