A page turner with a multi-strand convoluted plot which comes together nicely at the end. A recommended holiday read which will not disappoint.

Thank you netgalley and to the publisher for the ARC, this has been an anticipated read for me.

I really enjoyed the plot and characters in the story. I thought it was a good pace and kept me engaged. The twists were twisty and I didn’t expect the ending.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

With a serial killer targeting newlyweds on their wedding day, Carmen Sanchez and Heron are on the case. With a tangled web involving Carmen's sister investigating their father’s death and an old adversary, the team have their work cut out for them.

Loved this. The book tells the story from Carmen and Heron ‘s point of view for the most part as they use their technical and investigative skills. There are chapters from the serial killer, and right from the start we know who he is and how he thinks. I enjoyed this aspect as we get to see clues leading to a confrontation. The subtle will they won’t they aspect is also fun but has left me wanting more.

These characters work so well together I look forward to the next case! Highly recommend.

Read in 3 hours and 9 minutes.

This book was very dry- it felt like the authors were just clapping themselves on the back for the entire plot.

I didn’t bond with the detectives of the fabled “I squared” squad (but you did you know that they’re super special and cool??) as they were so 2D, and even the villains were pantomime and lacklustre.

I was excited to read this because of the description but more gloating about killing happened than actual killing.

A certain kind of man would love to read this, and his head would explode from all the gratuitous bowing and scraping to Really Smart Men Who Get Hot Women.

Delete my cookies- I’m outta here.

I love that Deaver and Maldonado have worked together on a second d book. I hope they continue to do so. This book was "edge of your seat" reading. I never knew which way the story would go! 4.5 stars

Carmen Sanchez, a Homeland Security Agent and Jake Heron, a security and intrusion expert discover that newly wed couples are being murdered in what appears to be tragic accidents, the reason appears to be, not so much as to kill someone but to seemingly wallow in the trauma of those left behind.

We are also involved in a thread involving the suicide of Carmen's father, which I assume was from the first book, this did tie up with the honeymoon killer (as they dubbed him) when he gets involved with saving Seline Sanchez, Carmen's sister.

This is the second book in the series, but can be read as a stand alone, on the whole a good read, but some of the story was glossed over, ie the killings in Italy, which felt a little forced into the story. It felt very slow to begin with, and then rushed at the end. Quite frankly the ending was also a little far fetched.

Please, please stop with the potential romance between main characters, if I wanted to read a romance I would!

This crime thriller has plenty of twists especially towards the end. Sanchez and Heron are characters that you can’t wait to follow throughout the book and that keeps you wanting to read. I felt that the story started off slow but then picked up pace, especially when Sanchez’s sister gets involved with trying to solve their father’s murder. Sanchez and Heron are assigned a case that connects three murders to one killer. Someone is killing either brides or grooms on their wedding day. While this is going on Sanchez’s sister finds a clue that will prove that her father was murder and didn’t commit suicide. Follow Sanchez and Heron as they try to track down the Honeymoon Killer before they become the next target. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Thank you Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC in Exchange for an honest review.

A serial killer is targeting brides and grooms on their wedding day. Dubbed the honeymoon killer it’s up to Sanchez and Heron to catch them. I enjoyed this second installment and look forward to more.

The Grave Artist is a stunning second act in the Sanchez & Heron series. It grips you from the first chapter and doesn’t let go until the final page. With a deeply disturbed antagonist and a plot that balances action with psychological thrills, this book proves that Deaver and Maldonado are a powerhouse duo.

The best new crime fighting duo in town is back and they are once again part of a clever, detailed and thought provoking mystery with more angles than you expect. Every time you think the ends are tied up, another strand appears and makes the plot even more thrilling. I absolutely love Sanchez and Heron. Their chemistry is evident and the different skills they bring to the table make for a fascinating process of problem solving and analysis. In this book, the perpetrators are as interesting as the “good guys” and the fate which awaits them is absolutely satisfying, even as you find yourself biting your nails and wincing as it unfolds. How the authors manage to create and maintain this level of tension is beyond me. A sensational effort and can’t wait for more!

Sanchez and Heron are back with their second thriller. I really enjoyed the first book but this one fell a little flat for me. While I did enjoy being around the team again it was a bit slow, but then the end felt like it was so rushed.

Isabella Maldonado and Jeffery Deaver are back with another Sanchez and Heron thriller. A groom is found dead at his own wedding reception, and all signs point to an accident - at least at first. Carmen Sanchez and Jake Heron soon discover that the accident is actually murder - the work of a serial killer targeting couples on their wedding day. Moreover, this mysterious killer appears to be less interested in his actual victims and more interested in the grief of the loved ones left behind. As Carmen and Jake, along with their small team, chase this honeymoon killer around Los Angeles, are they at risk of becoming his next targets?

The Grave Artist is a moderately-paced crime thriller with a handful of twists, particularly toward the end. I admittedly did not love this second book as much as I enjoyed the first (Fatal Intrusion). Things seemed to start off a bit slowly, but then the ending felt slightly rushed. However, I did thoroughly enjoy spending time with the main protagonists, as well as their family and team members. And, of course, bonus points for Caliber the cat.

Looking forward to the next novel in this series!

The Grave Artist by Jeffery Deaver and Isabella Maldonado, published by Thomas & Mercer, is the second book in their Sanchez and Seron Series.
Jake and Carmen's latest case leads then´m right in the path of a serial killer, brings them near danger too.
A complex full length crime thriller that had me in suspense till the last chapter.

I have to be honest here, I did not read too far. I loved the first book of this series, and while reading the second one things started out way too slow for me. I realize I didn’t give it much of a chance. I will revisit it at another time.
