I've never read a second chance romance before but this has made me want to read more.

The healing journey that the main characters Summer and Echo go on throughout this story is just so beautiful and captivating. I was obsessed with them.

The writing for their past selves, whilst feeling like the same characters did show the immaturity that you do have as teenagers but then the way the future parts were written felt so mature and well put together. I was obsessed and absolutely loved the writting style and how the story flowed.

I do wish we had a little more of Echo with his parents but honestly it's Echo and Summers story so it probably wouldn't of made much sense adding more than necessary.

"I wasn't joking about your name, just pointing out how bright you shine... like the sun."

Ebook Review
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Robbi Renee, I swears knows how to write a beautifully emotional second-chance romance. OMG, this book destroyed me in the best way possible! Literally, both characters were very likeable and relatable! I love how she gave us a dual timeline (past and present) so we could get a better understanding of Summer (Sunshine) and Echo (E). The love between them is the type of love I would want. They had to handle some difficult things, but, like they always say, if it's meant to be, let them go, and they will come back.

* Dual POVs
* Dual Timeline (Past and Present)
* Favorite Quote: "The name he gave me. The name reserved only for him. I was never Summer to him, but instead his Sunshine, his Sun, and him? He was mine—Summer’s Echo."

Thank you, NetGalley, and Black Odyssey Media for the ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Another amazing ARC from Netgalley 🙌🏽

I ate this book up 🥹

I LOVED the relationship between Summer & Echo. I loved the undying love they shared from day one that was uniquely theirs.
It was an achingly slow burn in all of the best ways!

Highly recommend 😍😮‍💨

⭐️ ARC REVIEW ⭐️

One thing for certain two things for sure Robbi Renee is going to have the MMC down bad head over heels for the FMC and I love that for us. (Big Zeke & Dr. Dresden)

But on the other hand Summer gave me baby Jemma vibes and if you’ve seen my reviews on those books…Jemma was not/is not/ will never be my favorite character…but I digress.

I’m not too much of a YA fan so I liked that it flipped back and forth to past and present but you do really have to pay attention to that part. That also helped develop the story of how Echo was ready to risk it all from the start.
I loved all their inner struggles and family dynamics…but Echos Daddy can meet me outside real quick…I just want to talk.

Summer and echo were almost frenemies to lovers FR. She tried to fight it & he wore her TF down you hear me!They locked in early in the summer before senior year. They both had different paths set by their parents. One being the oldest son of Nigerian parents and the other being the youngest daughter of… (I legit don’t remember what they did but they were in the church). Okay, they’re camp counselors and it gives warm and fuzzy real cozy puppy dog love but Echo oh oh was down bad even when Summer couldn’t get out of her head.

These two had me re-reading because where did it go wrong! I’m with echo WHO FACE DO YOU SEE WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUR WEDDING! Because how did we get here! I wasn’t ready for nary twist nor turn that came after though! Had me clutching my invisible pearls. Thennnn when he was fed up I was fed up too! She had 1 good more page to surface…

Not gunna hold you though… my heart broke for Echo. How their parents admitted it 15 years later that they saw exactly how he felt..if Summer leaned into him bs her parents…I guess there wouldn’t be anything to right about.

Summer’s Echo is a tender, emotional second chance romance that truly touched my heart. Told from both Summer and Echo’s perspectives, across past and present timelines, we get to witness how a single summer at camp blossomed into something unforgettable. They became best friends, each other’s safe space—but one moment shifted everything.

I adored the flashbacks to their camp days. Their banter, that sweet mutual pining, and the innocence of young love—it was all so nostalgic and soft. And as they grow older, you really feel their longing, heartbreak, and unspoken “what ifs.” It’s a story about timing, healing, and the kind of love that lingers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for the chance to experience this beautiful love story 💛

One summer. One secret. One second chance that changes everything.

From the very first scene—with a runaway bride, no less—I was hooked! Robbi Renee knows how to grab your attention and keep it. Summer’s Echo is a beautifully written, emotional second-chance romance that balances nostalgia, heartache, and hope in all the right ways.

What I loved most? The angst and drama didn’t come from your typical toxic relationship tropes. Instead, it stemmed from something deeper—family expectations, cultural tension, and that bittersweet sense of “what could have been.” Summer and Echo’s connection is undeniable and watching them navigate the feelings they’ve buried for years (along with a secret that could change everything) made this story impossible to put down.

If you’re into slow burns, star-crossed lovers, or stories where the heart has to fight through time and tradition to be heard, this one’s for you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A summer romance with depth, emotion, and unforgettable characters. Don't miss it!

This book follows Summer and Echo. The two of them meet as summer camp counselor’s when they were teens and they reunite as adults on the day of Summer’s wedding. This book is a slow burn, friends to lovers, second chance romance that will give you all of the feels. Right now I’m currently in the middle of watching the show Forever on Netflix and if you like that series, you’ll love this book! They both show the story of young love unfolding and how raw and complex those emotions can be. What I really loved about this book was how seamlessly it moved from past to present to connect the dots for the reader; each chapter gave you a piece of the story that helped you realize how their relationship ended up the way it was in their adulthood. This story was incredibly written, unfolds at the perfect pace and truly paints a portrait of what soulmates look like. Like no matter where Summer and Echo were in life, it was always going to be them. I really enjoyed reading this book!

Short Summary:

This book followed two teenage best friends into adulthood and the undeniable love between the two. Summer and Echo had one unforgettable summer together their senior year of high school and after life sent them in their separate ways, a recent reunion caused them to come back into each other's lives and confront each other after so many years apart.

Spice level:

3/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️
It has its steamy moments but I believe it was only 1 or 2 scenes, it didn't overrule the entire story as some books do.

Tropes Checklist:
- friends to lovers
- slow burn
- second chance

What I loved:

I loved how the story started with drama right off the bat. You didn't have to get a couple of chapters in to get a feel of things, Robbi Renee hooks you right in, first line lol. I loved the romance between the two characters, it felt very genuine and not misplaced. The chemistry was obviously undeniable especially during the flashbacks of when they were younger. I absolutely loved the different dynamics between both MCs families! Often, you get families represented in the same way, so I loved that the two families were completely different and it showed in their banter with one another.

What I didn't love:

I feel like the story flipped between present time and flashbacks a lot, which is fine, but it got to a point where it just became a bit too much. It felt like every chapter would be Summer's present POV, then Echo's present POV, then Echo's flashback, then Summer's flashback. I think either reducing the flashbacks or condensing them into just general flashbacks (instead of mixed POVs) would have been a bit more beneficial and easier to digest.

Overall, Robbi Renee is an amazingggg writer and never misses! She didn't disappoint with this story either. It was a great romance and I'm looking forward to her next release ✨

As always, thank you so much Robbi Renee, Black Odyssey Media, and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review 🫶🏽

Honestly, up there with my favourite reads of 2025!

Echo has risen up to my highest echelon of book boyfriends. A really beautiful reading experience, a second chance romance and the only believable friends to lovers story I’ve ever read.

This book is dripping with my favourite thing I care to read about in romance: Longing! So much palpable longing.

I appreciated the version of stoic Nigerian parenting was portrayed. As a Nigerian, it was very believable however the name Echo was not. A prideful traditional Nigerian patriarch would either give his first son his own name or something solid and sure to set him on his journey through life. ‘Echo Honor’ just seems too wistful, a name a person like Mr Abara would scoff at.

And of course my sweet Summer child. I just love her. She found herself in a few predicaments but was brave enough to choose herself. I really loved that it portrayed sweet, sensitive girls and women like Summer as having a quiet strength and fortitude. I thought she was delightful. A true product of her family’s love.

I know I’ll be recommending this book to everyone and reading it again and again!

Thank you for allowing me the chance to read and review Summer and Echo’s story. Told from both of their perspectives and going from 2004 (camp) to present. It starts from when they met, the secret that forced their separate ways and the present.

I thought Summer’s Echo was well written. I loved the characters. I found it to be a slow burn but I enjoyed it.

I would like to Thank Black Odyssey & NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!!

Summer & Echo is easily one of my favorite couples of 2025!!! Summer's Echo was very easy to get into. If you look in the dictionary for what a "Slow Burn" read is, you will see the cover of Summer's Echo sitting right where the definition should be. However, I mean it in the best way possible. This is the slow burn that will have you chasing for more, needing more! This book had me screaming at both Echo and Summer but at the same time loving them and wanting the very BEST for them. As a reader when I ask for Second Chance Romance this is the kind of book I want to read. Friends to Lovers..Echo & Summer is what I want!! And lets be Honest if the Cover of this book doesn't make you want to read this book. This book has easily became one of my top reads for 2025

With that out of the way Robbi Renee new book Summer’s Echo didn’t disappoint. I laughed, i cried, at one point my entire heart was shattered. This story follows the deep love of Summer and Echo. It’s an adventure going back in time to their high school years and working at a summer camp together. I don’t want to say too much to give it but please take this time to remember your first love. Just remember we were all teenagers once trying to experience this insane world so show them grace. And i was to fight Echos dad. Please give this book a try it’s amazing

Echo is the ultimate book boyfriend—truly perfection on the page!

There’s something so special about falling in love with your best friend, and I’m so glad I got to witness Summer and Echo’s journey unfold. While the story moves at a slower pace, it’s filled with heart and tenderness. The way Summer and Echo reconnect after years apart—as if no time had passed—was incredibly touching.

Anyone who’s ever experienced a fleeting yet unforgettable summertime romance, especially at camp, will feel a deep sense of nostalgia here. The book strikes a beautiful balance between heartwarming moments and the realistic challenges of love and growth.

I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read more from Robbi Renee!

Clear your calendar for a day or two, because you won't want to put this book down!

Tropes:
-Friends to Lovers
-Second Chance (I hate 2nd chance, but this one was portrayed differently and written very well)
-Slow burn
-Grief

This is one of those stories that pulls you in from the first chapter and you keep telling yourself "just one more page." It's heartbreaking, beautiful, and frustrating. As you're reading, you really feel like you are right there with the characters, living their life and experiencing it with them.

Tough decisions are made, hearts are broken, and trust is up in the air.

My heart was played with so badly while reading this, but it was worth it in the end. This is the perfect Summer read that will run you through all the emotions.

Five stars, this was amazing!

Echo, Echo, Echo, WHEW! That man is SPECIAL! Summer’s Echo starts off with a runaway bride hiding out in a spot where only Echo could find her. The story jumps back and forth from the present to the beginning of how Summer and Echo met, fell in love and fell apart. Summer annoyed me to my core Jesus lol but there were moments where I related to her and it made me understand her. As always check your trigger warnings as this book has some sensitive subjects. Thank you to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for the ARC of this book!
