This book starts with Summer avoiding one of the best days of a woman's life. Her wedding. You're then introduced to seventeen year old Summer and her meeting 17 year old Echo and them sharing one of the best summers ever.
The same Summer that bound then also held secrets that tore them apart. This story follows Summer and Echo as they try to navigate life without each other. The story takes you between now and the past and you'll view how a love so strong could be deserted. This friends to lovers, was the slowest fast burn I read. I laughed, cried and kicked my feet. This book also shows how parents trauma and views on love, marriage and tradition affects their kids. I enjoyed this book. It'll definitely be a summer read to enjoy with the girls.

Thank you Black Odyssey Media and Netgalley for this Advance Readers Copy ebook in exchange for my honest review.
This story was heartbreaking, frustrating and beautiful! Second chance love story which can restore anyone’s faith in young love.
Miscommunication trope is my least favored trope ever! And this story did have a little bit of that. But what can expect from two 17 year olds?
You are first introduced to Summer & Echo in present day after Summer has made a drastic decision. Flashbacks to the past when they first met and fell in love as teens and it all fell apart. The dual POV and multi timeline was a little confusing at 1st, but as the story starts to develop you see why it’s told in this format. We are given bits of the past as they become relevant to the present.
And the lead up to the big reveal 😩my heart 💔 !! Props to an author that can write a character that you would fight for (because I was ready to throw hands for Echo!)
Do I recommend this book? Yes!! This is the perfect summer romance read.

4.75 ⭐️ omg this has been added to my favorite of this year! A friends to lovers story that's so beautifully written. 🥰 You could feel the emotions and love in the pages. Echo was head over heels for his Sunshine🥹🤧 Even though the story took me from one part of their timeline to the next, back and forth (which is something im not a fan of)...I still enjoyed this. It was just too good. I didn't even care anymore.

This is the type of romance book you devour. Summer and Echo have been best friends for years— until something momentous shifts their relationship. Flash forward over 10 years later and we see them reunite under intense and unlikely circumstances.
This story has dual POVs and time jumps, and we can vividly see the chemistry and emotional attachment these two have no matter the decade. The story is gripping, and I love seeing young love mold into something stronger and more grounded as our protagonists grow up. There is sweet nostalgia in this story, as well as pain and growth in having to make difficult decisions. Our characters are creative, ambitious, have such heart for family and one another.
The writing was beautiful and introspective. Personally, I could have done without repetitive references to a women’s “precious treasure” (lol), but overall this was a lovely, mid-spicy book to read and it’ll definitely be a romance I recommend this year!

A story about love found and then lost. A story about second chances and healing journeys. A story about finding a way back to yourself. A love story through and through.
We follow the lives of Summer and Echo, how they met when they were teenagers, and how life drew them apart. After 15 years, life and regrets bring them back together again, now they must decide if they want to fight for their love or finally let each other go.
I hadn't read Robbi Renne before, and I got to say, I loved her style. Beautifully written, narrated with two POVs, and dual timelines. The story of Summer and Echo is a reminder that we can have different outcomes, just as long as we are willing to be brave and vulnerable.
She developed two amazing characters that are learning to be better and not have happiness taken away from them again. I personally loved Summer more, I liked how strong she is, and how she takes life by its metaphorical horns. She's a woman who has been told she is not enough, and in the book she starts fighting this belief.
My only problem with the book was that some parts seemed a little inconsistent as the story developed. They weren't major things or plot holes, it was just wording that led to believing that the development of the relationship was different. Since it is told in dual timelines, you get hints in the present timeline of what's going to happen in the past timeline, and some of the wording of the hints gave you the wrong idea.
But that's me being overly critical. It is a heartwarming story with a HEA and amazing characters that you'll just love. I completely recommend it.

This book was absolutely beautiful. I cried and laughed with Summer and Echo as if I was in the throngs of their relationship myself. Even throughout their triumphs and pain I love that it was a healthy love, not toxic, just meant to be. And often, happy endings in books feel almost too fairytale-like but this was perfect. The story flowed nicely and ended sweetly. I read “The End,” with a smile on my face. Thank you for this book!

I ABSOLUTELY loved this book. I was already a fan of Robbi Renee, having read Somebody’s Wife and Somebody’s Forever but this blew my expectations out of the water. The way the store went seamlessly between the past and present was perfect. It allowed the reader a space to get answers to questions that might come up about how we got there in their love story. This was so tender and romantic without being corny. The love felt so deep and real and tangible. The writing was poetic but it didn’t infringe on the plot development. I can’t wait to buy a physical copy of this book and I would strongly recommend for the romance lovers. This is it!

WOW! Amazingly done. Robbi Renee doesn't disappoint again. This book automatically pulled me in, in chapter one and I couldn't put it down. I love a friends-to-lovers trope and it was done perfectly. I could see this work turned into a movie; that's how vivid each of the scenes were. I will definitely be doing a review on my socials closer to the release date!

"We were only teenagers, but something about her felt timeless, like she could be my forever."
A heartfelt, achingly believable second chance romance, perfect for fans of Seven Days in June and just whoever loves to read stories of Black love!
I really wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did since second chance romances aren't usually my thing, but I was truly pleasantly surprised. I love a slow-burn and I love a friends-to-lovers storyline, so watching Summer and Echo slowly fall in love and realize/act on their feelings was really heartwarming.
Some negative points - I did notice that it was sometimes difficult to follow the story with all the flashbacks (especially since they weren't always in chronological order) and the big secret that drove them away used a plot point that I really don't like to read about. That said, I was satisfied with the way the author resolved the issues, and the epilogue of this book was so adorable it picked me right back up.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it!

A tender second chance at love story following Summer and Echo. We get to know about Summer and Echo’s relationship mainly through flashbacks from when they were younger and, at times, the story does read more as a YA novel. I loved their backstory and the friends to lovers aspect. This was so well written and such a sweet and heartbreaking story. It does take a long time for readers to get to what created the rift between the two characters and what makes this a second chance love story. I felt we rarely got to see them as adults throughout this. This was overall a good read.

I really wanted to love this book. And I did love the storyline. But I really struggled to get through it. The writing was overdone and repetitive, especially in the scenes between Summer and Echo. And it took a bit too long to get to the point where we learn what broke this couple up as teenagers. There was too much backstory and not enough once they reconnected. I love Robbi Renee’s books and will continue to read them. This one sadly wasn’t for me though.

We have to start with what drew me in. This cover is absolutely gorgeous! This story is a second chance romance, friends To Lovers story with a dual timeline. I struggled with the dual timeline. It felt like really a ya book and an adult book a the same time. The teenage timeline from their pov was written like a teenager would write it which really took me out the story. I did enjoy the adult portions of the story but I found that I the story dragged when we went back the other timeline. I enjoyed Echo. He was a great MMC. Altogether this book had parts I enjoyed I just wish it was a single timeline with flashbacks instead.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I was immediately locked in with Summer's situation. This story had the right amount of backstory and current along with dual pov to see how both characters are feeling. This was my first read of this author and I will purchase more of her stories very soon.
This story had the right amounts of ups, downs and between to not get stagnant.

I am a Robbi Renee Stan and this book only solidified my love for her! A true second chance that I felt in my heart. The love story is such a good one

3 stars.
Ehhh. This book felt choppy and the back & forth made it worse. It had so much potential but fell flat. I liked E and how he loved Summer. Through it all, she had his heart and whether she knew it or not, he had hers. When the truth came out, whoa. They went through a lot in that one Summer. When Summer’s mom said, “you spent your life looking for what Echo gave you in one summer”, I felt that. Their love was so intense and I’m glad love won.

This Second Chance romance was so beautiful! Summer & Echo meet at a summer camp , at the age of seventeen . They very quickly became bestfriends and were inseparable ! Their friendship/closeness always seemed weird to others (friends, parents, siblings) but they never cared what anyone else thought. Before heading to their first semesters of college a secret of theirs puts a strain on their relationship .
Years Later, they’re reunited and have to face this bond and secret that’s been holding them back in life! This was a true best friend to lovers story . Echo is a sweet protective man , while Summer is unsure but feisty. This dynamic created some of the best banter and tension that I’ve read in a while ! This was my first Robbi Renee read & I cannot wait to read some more of her work !

Summers, seasons, sexy, sweet, this is the book that has it all. Renee has crafted an entertaining story that interested me from the first few pages. I was intrigued by the plot and main characters as they navigate the past and their futures. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I absolutely loved this book. From the very first page, I felt completely swept away. It pulled me in with the kind of magic only the best stories manage to create. Robbi Renee has such a natural way of writing emotions that I didn’t just read about the characters, I felt everything right alongside them. Their hopes, their fears, their quiet moments of joy and heartbreak all felt incredibly real.
The romance was beautifully paced, with characters who were layered, imperfect, and easy to root for. I found myself pausing just to soak in certain lines, the kind that make you want to hug the book to your chest. There were moments that made me laugh out loud, others that left me teary-eyed, and all the while I was completely invested in their journey.
It reminded me of the kind of love that feels both exciting and safe. The kind of story that doesn’t just entertain you but makes you feel seen. I know this is one of those books I’ll be thinking about long after the last page. The kind you want to press into the hands of your friends and say you have to read this.

This was my first book by Robbi Renee and OMG it was an amazing read!!! The emotions I went through & the reminiscing I did from my own teenage years….so similar, so relatable. Robbi Renee is now one of my favorite authors!!

🌱| Just wow! She does it again. Robbi crafts the kind of love story that makes you feel like you’re right there. What a beautiful coming of age love story of second chance and confronting secrets and unspoken feelings.
Thank you for the early read!!
