This was a good book as long as you leave out the House of Night comparisons. Characters were well-developed and I found the plot interesting enough to keep reading. The mythology element was a highlight. Will continue with the series.

well. This was disappointing. I ended up skimming the parts I read and listening to this at an accelerated speed. The plot appealed but Alek and Eva killed it for me because I found them immature, naïve, and they didn't work for me.

I forgot about Amber Smoke being on my shelf and apologize for the fact that I was unable to read and review it for you.

Also of note, because this site won't allow me to post a review without a star rating, I've given it a default of mid range at 3. It isn't quite fair that the book be given 1 star because I haven't read it.

Eh. It wasn't horrible but wasn't great. I agreed with some comments that the book was confusing at times. I enjoyed it but not sure I'll continue with the rest of the series.

I could not get into this book. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a lot older now or what. It felt really teen focused but not in a good way. The writing was just not good.

Well-written alternate reality fanatasy and I appreciated the writer's skill with work-building. Thank you.

I had a hard time to get into this one, and finally gave up at the 40% mark. The premise sounded interesting, but I don't know if it was a combination of the fact that I couldn't connect to the characters, or the fact that I don't have a lot of luck with anything New Adult. It isn't horrible, but I just couldn't muster any interest, either.
