Finding Sonny by Steven Lazarus is the second book in the Bryce Chandler series and the stellar follow up to his debut novel, Call Me Sonny. If you enjoy crime thrillers you really need to check out this series. Bryce is a charismatic hero, and the plot revolving around trying to track down Sonny, head of an assassin’s guild, is smart and engaging. As I said, solid characters, smart story, and great action make this one another winner. Please keep them coming Mr. Lazarus. Thanks so much to Boyle & Dalton and NetGalley for allowing me access to an ARC of Finding Sonny.

I enjoyed reading this, but not as much as the first book, Call Me Sonny.
There were some very funny parts, and it took me a minute to realize ANN is CNN and Global News is Fox News, the way the author used them was clever.
It didn’t feel like there was as much action in this book and it slowed down a bit in the middle. It also wasn’t as surprising, though maybe that couldn’t be helped since we know most of the characters now.
I’m a fan of bad guys getting their comeuppance but I didn’t really like the way it was done this one.
Overall it was a good read and I’ll be reading the next one if there’s a third book, but I excepted a little bit more after how great the first one was.

Sonny continues to run his murder for hire business but ex FBI agent Bryce Chandler is determined to bring him down. Add to this an environmental disaster and a congressman running for the presidency and you have all the threads of a keenly plotted and taught thriller.
The cast of characters is fairly tight and this, along with some wonderful dialogue make Finding Sonny a book you’ll find hard to leave alone. I can easily envisage some of the scenes in Finding Sonny being drawn from real life events and that helps keep you well and truly invested in the narrative.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that a third book in this series isn’t off the cards,
I was granted a free review copy of Finding Sonny and am leaving this review voluntarily.
